Split Green Day / General

Most band forums aren't as good as this one though :wink:. Why is that? I say it's the interesting mix of people you get by having general and band threads together.

None of the other separated out sections of the site (eg. On The Road, Other Band Chat etc) have nearly as much fun and banter going on as the wonderful Green Day/General Chat

I voted yes, but merge them later...I think that would be the best idea, because there won't be very much news after everything cools down from 21CB. Either way, splitting them is definitely a good idea.

Most of the people that want this to remain merged seem to have posted thousands of messages. They want it to remain merged because it saves them time having to go between forums, when in actual fact they are the people with the time on their hands to make the extra effort. Most of us just want the green day news and that is the reason we all came here in the first place. At the moment we have to search the general and the topics page to find news.

I also feel some people are just trying to be contrary for the sake of it. There is not really any good reasons in the ones given to keep it merged. I think the bottom line is that people are worried no one will bother to search for their opinions on the general forum and they will have no-one to talk to. I really don't know why it would make any difference to them as they can talk to each other in the general forum.

The forum is becoming really messy now with all the extra green day info coming up all the time. C'mon guys make a decision!

But that is the whole point. Just because they are together doesn't mean people will rush to post in the general topics. Most of us seem to find them a bloody nuisance and brush past them to get to the band topics. If you go and check the green day topics thread you will discover most of the latest threads are still missing so it's more of an archive.

I think if people really want this split they should stop posting in the general pages altogether. This way they'll fade to the back pages sooner. I feel if I wanted to talk in the general topics I could click on it. I really can't fathom why this has to stay mixed. It's as annoying as the adverts that come on before a main feature, out of place and in the bloody way all the time! and lets face it, a lot of the topics are total shite.

I personally don't think that having them together causes more debates.

I have been here a long time and its pretty obvious that the people that want GD topics usually stay in GD topics and the people that want general stay in general even tho they are combined. So splitting that isn't gonna change anything.

I liked the button to be able to see GD topics only, but unfortunately that isnt updated on a regular basis due to people that aren't interested in the GD topics not going in there and tagging it correctly. Which makes the feature kinda useless.

I personally would like to see them split. I rarely post in the general threads, and I don't see my behavior changing if they were split. It would make it SO much easier to find what I'm looking for. And when I'm bored or something, I can check out the general threads (just as I do now).
