Split Green Day / General

Also I might take pains to note that (unless we decide against it later) to my best knowledge, this is not gonna be a permanent concrete thing. It's primarily to deal with the influx of Green Day stuff surrounding the new album. When it quiets down a bit (I do realize how far ahead I am thinking) they could well get merged back together.

I'm torn between yes and no. Logically, yes. Illogically, no.

It might make new members posting in the wrong section more ridiculous than it already is, but we do have a lot more mods now. I also liked these being merged just because it was a one stop place for everything I cared about. I guess I'll be clicking back and forth a lot more now. I would like to switch back just for the sake of convenience when it's all said and done though. We'll see how it works out.

lol. Don't split them, the forum will be like any other minor forum on the net. This was one of the few things that I like about GDC .

But if you do split them, then merge them back when things "chill out"

When I came back here after not being on for years, I was confused as to why there was not separate sections for Green Day and General Chat. They are both completely different topics!

Well, that way there will be more sections. Too many sections (or sub-sections) make a forum messy to me.

GDC has been like this (one section) since the beginning, I don't see why it needs to be changed now.

yeah, thats the other option besides moving it down to 'community'. it'd just be even more out of place under a "Green Day" section.

Then you could make it an equal undersection to Green Day and Community maybe. As the second one right under Green Day.

That's why I tended to be against a split also, but it has gotten all a bit too chaotic lately, I think. And people, who are not that much into GD anymore, are not posting in the GD threads anyway. At least not that much, that it would make a difference.

The reason it's hard to keep up with the Green Day posts at the moment isn't because of the general threads - it's just becuase there's so many Green Day threads! The few general ones in between make no difference to that.

I also think, that all the news threads needed to be more structured somehow. But I also see the problem, that using too many subforums can be annoying.

i don't wanna make a "non-green day" button. I don't like that technology.

In the end, this forum is utterly awesome anyway. Splitting up or not won't change that.

That's definitely a good idea that you should split the two, because we end up having loads and loads of threads in the section, and maybe it would help you lot filter it a lot better

I voted yeah. I always thought the two should be seperate anyways. I would find it much easier to navigate and it would keep things more organized.
