Strahinja Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 american eulogy reminds me of deadbeat holiday in some parts Great song with Mike's vocals
Soroush Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 21st Century Breakdown: real green day song with a nice lyrics with great melody. the melody remindes me some parts of JOSEast Jesus Noehere: a very powerful song for real punkers. Great and impressive lyrics. I bet BJ has fuckin spent lots of time on it.Before The Lobotomy: Starts beautifully but becomes boring in the middle. the only one that I didn't enjoy it that much.Restless Heart Syndrome: so beautifull song but I don't think it is punk rock. It's closer 2 pop rock or alternative rock. the lyrics reminds me the beautiful Give Me Novocain. I totally love it.American Eulogy: Great Great Great. I enjoyed it a lot and is close 2 the title song in some parts.21 Guns: Best Green Day song ever. the way that BJ sings made me cry. a higher type of BOBD. so beautiful. first time that I listened my heart was stopping. fuckin beautiful
Tiffx Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Restless Heart Syndrome <3This song has been stuck in my head all fucking day and I've barely listened to it. Especially the 'you're a victim of the system' bit, keeps going round in my head. That's what happens with catchy Green Day songs.
alexandrez Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I also like the "Christian and Glori-YOW!" part of "Mass Hysteria". Makes me giggle.yea. that is fucking awesome.its like he is too exited to finish saying gloria.he just have to put the YOW out there. I dont like the songs at all. Non of them actually. The B-sides are way better. This shows that Green Day should leave their beatles bullshit behind and go back to their roots. I think they are over doing it right now. We should give them credit for having the balls but the result wasnt good. The songs are just dead...there's no feeling, nothings happens in me when I hear them. For the first time in my life I didnt even have patience to listen through them.I love the B-sides though. They have really grown.well, u haven't heard most of the songs i guess.and we only have 7 songs from the album so far. there are still 11 more songs coming our way.plus, hear 21 guns again. that song is making loads of people cry, including me.and no, i don't really cry over songs... usually.
Hermione Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I like the raunchy bit in the middle of East Jesus Nowhere. Oh yes I do
clusterbomb Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 i hate how the radio compresses music to fuck!all the quiet guitar parts are louder than the actual full band parts on the radio :/but either way, how fucking immense these songs are is beyond belief
RetroHolo Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 "Long time listener...first time caller!"Hah, ahem. Anyway, loving the songs. 21 Guns, Restless Hearts and East Jesus Nowhere are all solidly planted in my mind. He's definetly taken his voice to another level. I was in two minds about the album after Know Your Enemy, which while being a decent song just smacked of repetitiveness and was kind of an predictable track. So to see that there are some real classic rock elements to the other songs, and that musically they're probably way ahead of anything they've ever done, is really good. I'm of the opinion that American Idiot (whilst being a brilliant album) was way to "mainstream" (although all music is nowadays) But this album sounds like it's been worked on for so long, and that so much care has been taken with the arrangements and the lyrics are more moving. Restless Hearts for some reason really speaks to me, (although I'm not one to cry whilst listening to music) it's bouncing around my head as we type. This is Green Day in what I think is a natural progression, they're not a particular genre of music anymore. They have their punk roots but musically they've evolved into something that just seems right. I'm looking forward to hearing the album in full very soon.American Eulogy definetly sounds like Deadbeat Holiday in part. And I'm sure I've heard Welcome To Paradise in one of the tracks, at least the chord progression goes that way a little.-Retro.
Eirik Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 ^ ^I think that might just be the way the album is produced, let's hope not, though. DO any of the songs feature this riff?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-IRWkF94NwI serverly hope it hasnt been cut...That's from Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl), so why are you asking in this thread?

Quiet bits don't broadcast well on standard radio and if the music gets too loud then it starts to clip for the listener. So you're constantly tweaking the levels to keep it within a certain volume, thus quiet bits are ramped up in volume and the louder bits are ramped down. It's called normalising! (Don't quote me on that, I worked radio at Uni, I don't do technical words!)

alexandrez Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Sorry for the double post.i swear i only clicked once.:/

perfectpitchrob Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 my review time.21st CBD - Sounds better than the demo version both in instrumentation and vocals. A powerful opening to the albumKYE - While it can get repetitive sometimes - lyric wise (not really a bad thing), it is a good classic green day song with a good messageBTLobotomy - Proof that Billie Joe's voice has become better than ever. Great falsettos in the opening! And the middle part sounds almost "who"-ish!East Jesus Nowhere - I expected this to sound like holiday, based on reviews. However, this sounds nothing like that and has breathtaking harmonies, and great riffs included. A bold statement and a fun song.Restless HS - I have to go against my "not saying what it sounds like" code and say this sounds a little bit like a small part of the verses of Garbage's "it's all over but the crying" in some parts...BUT...that's NOT a criticism, and I don't think Butch Vig would mind either. I certainly don't! This sounds nothing like I have ever heard green day before. It sounds very melodic and has great vocals. 21 guns - Best song green day have ever done!...yeah...I know lots of people have said that, but it's true. Great lyrics, smooth sounding vocals, epic sound quality, and great instrumentation. Of course, since this might be a single, I bet in 4 months, this might become overplayed so I'll enjoy it while it's still fresh!American Euoligy - I like how the two parts connect and of course, how, not only Mike sings, but how he does a good job at it. Part 2 reminds me of old school punk, both in the instrumentation, and the fastness of mike's vocals. ------can't wait for more!
