21CB Demo was good, really good. It was a ray of hope that Green Day's new album would be a good one.

Then you listen to 21CB Album/Studio version, and the song has evolved SO MUCH since the demo version. It's just much more epic, if at all possible; I'm making a really crap job of describing what is actually 'better' about it >_< It's like 1 million times better than the demo. And I loved the demo to pieces, now though it is inferior. I can understand now why the band was pissed at the demo being leaked when the studio version is much better.

I know this is a terrible comparison, but when I first heard RHS it instantly reminded me of the part during Forgetting Sarah Marshall when he's sitting in front of his piano at home singing 'Peter You Suck'

I can't believe how different it sounds though, it's amazing. I'm pretty sure that it's my favourite of the bunch.

21 Guns makes me feel like I want to laugh and cry at the same time. So instead I just settle with a shaky, contented sigh with a smile. It was a very nice surprise indeed!

oh, I'm not sure if non-musicians people noticed, but Before the Lobotomy has a different time signature than all of the other green day songs.

its the first green day song with a different time signature.

u know when on songs you can count to 4 and repeat? like 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4 ? thats a 4/4 time signature. before the lobotomy keeps changing from 4/4 to 7/8. 7/8 means you count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and repeat. if finishes the phrase 1 count earlier.

if you have the recordings i made, the 7/8 time sig can be heard at 1:22. and everytime that part kicks in. it sounds a bit broken, so to speak.

this time signature can be found on a few rare songs in rock.

dream theater uses loads of weird and different time signatures, i know pink floyd has a song with this same time sig. just not sure of the name now.

its not actually the first time ever green day have gone into a different time sig. There was a single bar (literally 1 bar!) of JOS that was 2/4, and part of 'I don't care' was 3/4. I think 'nobody likes you was 3/4 aswell.

but about before the lobotomy, i heard a live of that a while ago, and wondered if it was 7/8 timing, that bit sounds awesome doesn't it?!!

its pretty darn good, but i just prefer EJN on first listen

Now as I listened to all 6 songs, I can tell you that I can't say which one's my favorite. I could write something like a short review for all of them, but I think it's not really interesting, so I won't do it

I already know that I will love this album, because I love these 6 songs so much... every single one is simply awesome.
