I could die happy now.

Haha, I can't manage to focus on all the new songs, because I am so excited about East Jesus Nowhere, that I play it over and over again, including crazy dancing and singing and all that funny ridiculous stuff. I wanna hear this song live!!!!

Me too!!!!! OH MY GOD I am in love

But American Idiot was a masterpiece, so if 21st Century Breakdown is better than a masterpiece, what is it??

They haven't yet invented the words to describe 21st Century Breakdown

I might call it a monument of perfection

Masterpiece Part II.

But Monument of perfection is also fine. :D

I am so glad they didn't go back to where they were before AI. So far it sounds to me as if they managed to evolve further as musicians and as if this record has the chance to even top AI.

That's a fun song. They better play it when they tour or else I'll be super pissed off.
Haha!! I've had the same reaction - just an awesome awesome song. This song will be way crazy live, and I can't wait to be in the middle of the madness!!

Of course they are gonna play it!!!

*plays air guitar and imitates drums noises and shakes head heavily* :woot:

Haha, I am totally hyper. :D

The song is amazing live. It was definitely harder to appreciate them because you're in the pit and jumping around like an idiot, but listening to it now, totally gives me flashbacks of them playing it that night. I remember them opening and just hammering in with the solid intro, it's like magic.

Awesome.

21 Guns is as good as everyone says it is, it's this record's Boulevard possibly, but hopefully without the mass exposure that I got really fed up with from channels like the Box and Smash Hits and people who don't like actual music, just whatever's in the charts.

The ballady songs are even better this time, Restless Heart Syndrome, 21 Guns, Last Night On Earth being the highlights for me so far (I've only heard Last Night as a live recording though).

Never thought I'd say it either but I think I love the intro to new 21cb more than the demo. I sat and worked that out at the piano the other night because I love it so much but the new intro, just the bit when the main guitar and the backing vocals kick in, it's basically the most awesome thing ever.

One thing though: the first minute or so of American Eulogy rips off Deadbeat Holiday soooooo much. The verses sound the exact same. At least they're ripping their own songs off, unlike for anyone who's heard the new Enemy album, where every song rips a Clash/Blur/Pulp song off so blatantly, any money they make from it will be going to the copyright lawsuits.

Awww, of course I forgot, some of you already have heard the songs live. They opened up with East Jesus Nowhere? Awesome, I thought it might be a perfect opener. Jumping around like an idiot is just an appropriate reaction. :D

I would definitely put the guitar bridge of 21 guns somewhere in a movie or TV show or something.

I love ALL the new songs, East Jesus Nowhere is awesome, so are the other songs but EJN is the awesomest.

Also I still think Restless Heart Syndrome could fit in a musical.

I love all the falsetto, works really well. This is just divine and magical and spectacular, American Idiot successfully blown out of the water.

Now I must listen more

Amazing songs! I said that I won't listen any new song until the 15th of may but I can't wait more hahaha

I really like 21 guns and east jesus nowhere (L)

Now I'm so upset that I wasn't there. I could have seen Andres jumping around like and idiot, and I had to miss it :(.

Oooooook, having calmed down somewhat from this morning and my initial comment on GDA about the songs, back from work I can now listen again. Got to say they're immense. Each song seems like a whole different Green Day has written/performed it, each track it's own little story, so full of emotion and power, strength and certainty. Green Day have, in my eyes, pulled it off - They've looked at American Idiot and produced an album which climbs that mountain again; then continues onwards and upwards higher than ever.

For anyone who didn't see my comment over on GDA -

"As someone who loved the demo of 21CB to bits I have been sat crying my eyes out listening to 21CB album/studio; it is so fucking incredible. The emotion and strength of that song amazes me.

Love East Jesus Nowhere & 21 Guns, American Eulogy is pretty awesome. Restless Heart Syndrome wasn't bad. Before the lobotomy rules :P

Now I have to head to work sadly :("

I have to agree with the folks saying 21 Guns is the new Boulevard, it just has HIT written all over it. It'd be a shame if it doesn't get released in single form.

Anyway back soon, got to plan for a Rammstein tour too; Green Day & Rammstein within 1 month, I may explode in more ways than one.

I agree with Andres, this def makes American Idiot look Amateur. They just sound much more confident in their sound.

I know that it's just 1/3 of the album but I officialy love it.

and just think, if this is only a 1/3 of the album, just wait till we hear the rest of the album!

This is so interesting. I can't wait to hear 21 Guns. I haven't heard any of the songs except KYE and Lights Out, but I've read SO much about how great 21 Guns is. There's a poll on this forum about which song should be the next single. I voted for 21 Guns even though I haven't heard it - just on the strength of everything I've read. Now I'm anticipating it even more!

I am just having so much trouble imagining how anything could make AI look amateur. I'm so excited to hear it all now :woot:!!!

It's one of those songs you just get a feeling in your gut over, something you can't explain other than a raw emotion so deep that it gives you goosebumps. Scary shit, but amazing.

I think the emotion of it all struck me by surprise last night really. I had no idea that any other music - other than AI - could ever make me feel like that again, but oh, was I sooo wrong. I absolutely agree with what you said - about that song and the others, too.

Yeah, I can totally see a skinny man with fluffy dark hair walking down a lonely boulevard.

Sorry, there is not much overtly intelligent input to be expected from me today. Just hope, no one bumps the abortion thread.

Wait, why is nobody talking about Before the Lobotomy? That song blew me away the most!

Posted

Modern World rocks my cock off!!!!

That song is going to break my car stereo, no doubt.

Begining of Before the lobotomy is brilliant,I don't like the middle part.It kinda ruins the song

I'm kinda sad,I wanted to listen all the songs on 15 th may

but oh well.

something i noticed, in east jesus nowhere, the song got cout short by about 20 seconds. when u listen to the whole interview there is a whole other part...

yea i messed up there. try editing the audio clips with the radio on while talking to people and posting everything at GDC and also keeping up with the song flow!

anyways, im re-editing all the songs, with a bit of EQ to take that extra Gain out and put a bit more bass.

it should be done in an hour.

it will sound much better.

It seems like a step up from American Idiot. I like that the protagonists of the story have actual names this time.

i agree

i totally agree

not amateur, i'd have to say a warm up.

and i thought it would be very hard to top AI... and they did it.

one thing though, its album sounds a bit more over produced than American Idiot. nothing bad actually, but it makes it harder to play live with all of the sound layers in it.

this is why its so chalanging to play live for them.

OH sorry, they didn't open the show with that song, they opened with 21st Century Breakdown (they played the album in order). But when they started this song, it just catches your attention.

Awesome :woot:
