petrina_678 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 never lost my interest , just that im more obsessed now
fashionvictim86 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Ahhh.... I just PM'd a heartfelt message to Andres thanking him for this amazing site and GDA. Without 'em, I don't think I would have ever gotten into Green Day again. I feel the same way I felt 3 years ago when I first joined this forum. The good times are truly back!! I got an email like that the other day! I love when fans email me with that. It makes me feel like I made a difference in someones life, no matter how small it was, I played a part in their Green Day obcession.
CaesarSalad Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 i lost interest a while ago. i don't even know if i'll listen to the new album after hearing the new single on the radio. although my taste in music sort of moves in cycles. i might come back to green day one day.
Sara Armstrong Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 going to their concert in 2005 helped me to keep my interest in them. i've just been toooo excited for a new album & tour to completely lose interest in them.but with the new album & buying tour tickets, i'm definately more obsessed w/ them then i was like, a year ago.
forget_me_nots Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I never lost interest, because the first album I heard was AI. So, I LOVED it, but got tired of being accused of being a bandwagoner, so I bought every one of their albums over the next two years. (It was impossible to find Shenanigans or Warning ANYWHERE). That way, until 2007, I always had something new of theirs and they never got old to me. I started listening to FBHT and PHGP and The Network, too, so, I don't know, I never got the chance to lose interest.
Pan. Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 I got an email like that the other day! I love when fans email me with that. It makes me feel like I made a difference in someones life, no matter how small it was, I played a part in their Green Day obcession. I know! It's a wonderful feeling knowing you did help make a difference in someone's life!I thank you too, Courtney...... I don't know what I'd do without GDA/GDC!!
annie Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I always knew I'd regain my interest as soon as they came out with something new. I mean, you can only listen to the same stuff for so long before you get bored. But I never stopped liking them.
Sharmellow Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Not exactly lose interest, I just didn't listen to them as much in the 2007-2008 period. I never completely lost interest though.I'm too much of a die-hard fan.
fashionvictim86 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I'll admit I don't listen to Green Day every single day of my life. I don't feel I need to do that to be a huge fan. It's just that some days, after I've been on the phone all day and I have a huge headache from talking to stupid people, I just wanna sit in front of the TV. And I work from home, so I don't drive and listen to them in the car like I used to.
Velocity Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I feel like lately I can't get through the day without listening to them. It's been a looong time since I've felt like that. Like St. Jimmi said, I never really lost interest but I was listening to them significantly less in 2007-2008.But if you were to look at my last.fm now you'd see the ridiculous amount I've been listening to Green Day lately
IHateYou Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 seeing them at Webster Hall really brought them back into my heart to a certain extent. I mean, punk music can't be as exciting to me after being exposed to everything else under the sun with age, but Green Day are still the kings.
rinu Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 i lost it twice because of MCR.right now i dont listen MCR anymore.
AtTheLibrary19 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I probably started listening to Green Day around 99, because I remember being in elementary school and going over my friend's house and listening to 1039 as well as Kerplunk over and over haha. In middle school I pretty much kept listening to them until AI came out. I remembered I listened to AI for like 5-6 months straight, then (Being the immature 13 or 14 year old I was) I just stopped listening altogether once Boulevard and WMUWSE became way popular. For some reason I just completely shut them out for like 2-3 years. Then probably around early 2008 once rumors of the new album started surfacing, I figured I'd dust off the old CD's. By the time 21stCBD came out I was hooked more than ever, and currently I am definitely the most into Green Day I have ever been! I just feel like I can relate to so many of the songs now, and I've certainly matured since 8th grade haha. So yeah that's my story.
badwolf Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I never lost interest, but I did get even more interested to the point where my life is just nothing but Green Day filled.I'm happy to say I'm obsessed with Green Day. AND PROUD! I'm obsessed with GDC, too (thanks to Andres and Courtney for making GDC/GDA). And, again, proud!
jacknovella Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Yeah, I've been a fan of Green Day since American Idiot, but I guess from then to now I kinda lost interest a little bit. When I heard about the new album, I started listening to AI again, as well as listening for the first time to some of their older stuff, like Dookie. Only through this interest have I realised how amazing a band Green Day really are, and I know I'm a fan for life now.
Isabel Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I've certainly become more interested in them again, since they've just released an album and tour dates, etc. But that's only natural, like. I think because they took such a long break from American Idiot, it eventually frustrated me enough to start listening to other bands who release albums and tour far more frequently.I've always been a huge Green Day fan ever since I first heard them 8 years ago, but when they're not doing much and there's no news from them, it's sometimes difficult to maintain the same excitement, when there are plenty of other amazing bands out there you can listen to, who are constantly working on new material and playing shows.
Nova-Caine Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Tbh, the last year my love for GD has waned slightly. It's coming back slightly now with the new album but I am not bothered if it doesn't go bk to how it was before. That's just because of other things that have been going on in my life. Obviously I still love them but they are not the be all and end all of my life. I have priorities, for me GD are my escape but come near the bottom in my scale of what's important in my life.I can't wait for the tour in Rocktober here in England but mainly because I will finally get to meet Cheryl and Beth, that means more to me than seeing the band live and even dare I say meeting the band.I will always love Green Day, they hold a special place in my heart for the times when down they have picked me up, the times when happy their music has skipped along with me, for every emotion, for every instance in your life you can find a GD song that fits perfectly. As someone who has spent a vast majority of her life in hospital or ill music can be the thing that does keep you sane and saves you. Green Day did that for me. I am here today because of them no joke. For me though now at this point in my life it is the people I have met because of this band that I will love them for most. I may one day stop listening to the band but the friends I shall keep and cherish forever. How can a band bring people together like this? I am astounded by it daily. I really am so lucky with the friends I have made and how they have helped me and continue to help me through a very painful ordeal the last few weeks. They are my family my Green Day family. I love GDC its a special place for me. x
tapdancingowl Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 i lost interest a while ago. i don't even know if i'll listen to the new album after hearing the new single on the radio. although my taste in music sort of moves in cycles. i might come back to green day one day.Listen to it. I really didn't like Know Your Enemy (I assume that's the song you are talking about) when I first heard it. I still don't love it. But I did listen to the album even though I wasn't going to after that, and the other songs more than make up for KYE. I love 21CB, it surprised me and I think it'll surprise you.
Waffles Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I've always been into them. I'm inside themA very sexual relationship.
xVanessa86x Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I never lost much interest in Green Day just the old stuff was boring me a tad but 21st Century Breakdown came out and I haven't stopped listening to Green Day since! It's like I'm a born again Green Day fan almost
catskill94 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I've barely regained interest but I haven't listened to this new album at all. only what i've heard on that commercial. har. though i'm not particularly excited to listen to it either. not quite sure why i'm posting here.
Doctor Demon Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I did lose my interest for a little bit, while I was obsessed with Death Note, but once it was confirmed that 21CB was coming out in '09 I became obsessed with Green Day again.
