I'm kinda building back up my interest for them, despite the fact that I'm none too fond of their latest single. I'm pretty confident that their album will be enjoyable as a whole, therefore I shall probably fall in love with them all over again.

There's also the small matter of going to see them on october 23rd. :D

I'm proud to say that after being introduced to them in '97, I never lost interest.

Diehard fan until the end.

I'm to much of a die hard fan to lose interest. It's just now easier to find the youtube videos:)

No, I understand what you mean cause that's how I was with MCR. And for the year or so I would not listen to them at all, just in little spurts. I'd hear a song off Three Cheers then end up having the cd on repeat for a week.

I was just trying to understand whatcha meant, as in you haven't really listened to Green Day in a long time :)

omg I have the same 2009's glasses you have on your twitter-pic.

haha

I've never lost interest in them

I definitely lost interest around 2006 when the Arctic Monkeys slowly began to replace them as my favourite band, but they are still my 2nd fave, although between then and now I slowly listened to them less and less. Never lost interest in updates or things but I supposed my Green Day listening kinda burned out. It's come back though, but I am trying to go beyond Welcome To Paradise, Basket Case, She which I have kinda over-listened to.

I still listen to them often from iTunes, or with a CD in my car, but I can say I have many more favourite bands now. Before, it was pretty much just Green Day, and that was until mid-2006, then I stopped coming on this forum in beginning on 2007, with the odd post here and there...but to be honest, I stopped using forums altogether, as I decided it wasn't too healthy for me to spend all the time I used to on them. I gained interest in other things, but I've never forgetten about Green Day...I'm still hyped from their last tout, and having the chance to see them again has made me play BIAB pretty much constantly for the moment. KFOD is an amazing song, and I think I'd scare the neighbours if they saw the crazy 'dancing' (if you can call it that), that I seem to break out it as soon as it comes on haha!

So yeah, I'm now back on here. Coming to the end of my first year of univeristy, and have a LOT of free time on my hands. It's good to be back, GDC  .

People lost interest. Some just don't want to admit it. I openly admitted it.

When a band doesn't release any new material in 4 years, it becomes quite difficult to regain interest in them.

But I'm glad the wait is finally over.

Agreed. I think I did lose a bit of interest by 2006 (ish); granted, I still listened to them. I'm super hyped with the new album now, though! But I'm actually scared that I'm all hyped up again, just because when I was excited with American Idiot, I was ridiculed by my peers at school - pretty shitty time. I was isolated and all; I'm just hoping to god that doesn't happen again.

Hmmm, I need to amend what I said. I've listened to a few more of the new songs, and though I'm not sure I love them, or even like them, I am certainly interested in hearing the whole album. I think once I hear the whole album, it will all make more sense.

Today I downloaded the discography....again.

I'm actually here because I'm listening to leaks.

Seriously.

Not impressed with the new songs, but still. It's the thought that counts??

Leaks, where?

Alright guys, I want to know if your interest in Green Day is the same as when AI was first released, now that most of you heard their new album!!!

Yeah this isn't the Brag About Your Green Day Fandom Level thread

I think it happens to the best of us, losing slight interest inbetween albums

Although I'm not nearly as excited for this album (I still don't own it *ducks and covers*) as I was for AI I definitely have rekindled my love for these three guys. Especially since they're on tour again and I have tickets for two shows in a row

EDIT: AHHH I'VE BEEN SIGAFIED  HAHA

I feel the same way. I was beginning to say Green Day is no longer my favorite band, until 21CB came out. Now I'm stoked into listening to Green Day again! Ah the good times are back :D.

Ahhh.... I just PM'd a heartfelt message to Andres thanking him for this amazing site and GDA. Without 'em, I don't think I would have ever gotten into Green Day again. I feel the same way I felt 3 years ago when I first joined this forum.

The good times are truly back!!

It always has to come in waves. You can't expect to be stuck on the same album, or even the entire Green Day catalog, for your life. I've eagerly anticipated every new Green Day album since Dookie, and they've been hands down my favorite band ever since. However, after awhile, I move on, occasionally go back and visit an album, but always keep up with new bands, or discover old ones I never knew about. And I'm sure it's pretty much the same for everyone, with any music they like. Band makes new music, good reason to get back into them, or at least check them out. There are other artists I do the same with.. I go back and revisit their catalog at random times if nothing new has caught my attention. It's just.. life.

I've been really into them constantly since I first got hooked on AI and then discovered all their other albums, my interest has never waned at all. But I'd never experienced the thrill of anticipating a new album from them before, and whats more I was able to share that excitement with loads of other people because of this site. So that was pretty special.

I love the new album and although I can't say I've regained an interest, it's definitely adding to it. My boys have done it again :D

I was really into them through the late 90's and early 00's, and LOVED American Idiot when it first came out, but I completely lost interest in them after that album got ruined by the mainstream media and new teenie fans (no offense to anyone, I've left the bitterness behind). I still listened to their stuff up through Nimrod, but from 2006-2008 (or so) I was among the punker-than-thou crowd that basically saw the modern Green Day as a total joke. Then for some reason I decided to pick American Idiot back up again one day, after all the mind-numbing hype for it was long gone, and connected with it on a whole new level. From there I started following the development of the new album (that we all know and love), the news of Blink's reunion got me away from grunge and back into pop-punk in general, and now I'm a bigger Green Day fan than I've ever been.

from 2006 to up until this year i have to say my interest did settle. No new material plus that god awful duet with u2 sort of made me forget about them a little bit. Now not only do i find myself listening to the new album but also the entire back catalogue. Its like 2005 all over again haha

a couple years ago, i tried to banish them from my life. i stopped listening to them, deleted them off my iPod, took down all my GD posters & memorabilia and stopped wearing my GD shirt & wristband. i don't even know why. i guess i just wanted to branch out and try new things...

slowly, it all began growing back to what it once was. i started wearing the shirt again, then i put up one of the posters, then i put some of their stuff back on my iPod, and started liking them again...

oh, yes. i've regained my love for them and it's 100x greater than it ever was before.

Green Day makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside. <3

21st Century Breakdown has made me more interested in Green Day than ever. It was well worth the wait and shows how great and passionate Green Day are!

After AI era started dying down I got into more and more bands, and from 2006 through early this year I hardly ever listened to them. I found other bands and got into them, and then when I heard about 21CB and it rekindled my love, I slowly started listening to them. I forgot how much I love Kerplunk and Warning. And then when 21CB came out I've been following them like before, reading all their interviews, watching all their videos.

It feels good to love them again. And the album hype was amazing, I never got to experience the hype before a GD album release. I loved it!

And now I got tickets to their Detroit show on July 14th. My first GD show ever.
