I don't want to read a review by someone who is paid to review the album. Fuck that. I'd rather hear what actual fans think.

I don't read reviews because I don't particulary care what critics think.

yells "fuck the critics and what son"

you are always going to get bad and good critiques, it's music, and like all, it's subjective

gosh

now stop whining about what an article says, wait for the thing, listen to it and judge for yourself

he gets paid because he is supposed to do a spot-on, unbiased review

actual fans are going to tell you is the best thing they heard in their short lives

^The problem isn't that it's a negative review though, it's that its a poorly written review. There's a difference.

Overall it's actually more positive than negative, I mean they give it 3 out of 5, but it's still badly written.

then that was a poorly written title as well

I'm all for a biased fan review at this point.

Ha you got me there. I have to agree :P

Well, it's ok, it's just the writer's point of view.

i think its funny how they suck up green day arse when they they get a preview of some of the album, thinking that mabye that they are privelaged or sumthing mabye?i dont know....but why have a total change of oppinion just before the album comes out?

Are critics in competition with eachother or something because thats what it seems like to me.

I think this album will be awesome! :D

I love everything I've heard thus far and we all know SPIN will be kissing GD's ass when it's in their interest so that they can sell more magazines.

Looks like it's cooooool to bash Green Day again. It's okay though. I got used to it between 1997-2003.

It's always been cool to bash Green Day, you know that!

EDIT: After RTFA, it just looks like the writer wanted to use as many big words as possible. One thing I have a problem with is the last line: "If we're gonna come with you, you gotta tell us where we're goin'." Really? You dedicate 500+ words to the band's last collection and how it rallied the masses to the left, then turn around and vilify them for continuing that path on the follow-up? Wasn't the idea behind American Idiot to make people use their heads, to make them think and question things? Kandell is making Billie Joe out to be some uninformed Pied Piper. Just like the last time around, the lyrics are only encouraging to think for yourself, not to subscribe to the lyricist's personal beliefs.

Sure, agreeing to air portions of the video for the album's lead single - which is supposed to be a protest song - raised more than a couple of eyebrows. But it's really hard to imagine that being their idea, and not Warner's. You can bet that if this band followed up American Idiot with a safe album's worth of boring, bland 3-minute pop-punk songs, the people at Spin would be the first ones crying on their keyboards about how Green Day got lazy, took the easy way out, didn't bother to try and evolve with their sound. They do that, while not straying too far from what makes them such a good band, and Spin says they're just afraid of "not sounding like Green Day for too long." Make up your minds, fellas.

Yeah, I know. You can't please all the people all the time. But doesn't it seem like this magazine has some sort of anti-Green Day agenda?
