Guest 16PaperLanterns Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Exactly - which is what makes seeing the reverse of that image so powerful, and so it gets your attention. I don't take it literally - I see it as 'hanging' the mindset of bigotry and racism.I agree completely.
justcause Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I would also analyze it like this. I even pity, that the picture wasn't shown clearer. It looks somewhat as if they tried to hide the picture a bit.Yeah, but then it would take attention away from the couple - this stuff is all the backdrop to where they're at.
Sugaree Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I still can't see ithttp://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu52/sullenriot1/kkk.jpg

TheBullwinkle Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 That's interesting. I honestly don't know what to make of it.
Guest Hayley Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 That's interesting. I honestly don't know what to make of it.Same here.
TheBullwinkle Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Same here.Yeah, I mean, I'm not especially offended by it or anything, but at the same time, I'm kinda like .
Bryn Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Wow, I see that. I am not sure I would have caught that either. There are racist all over Oklahoma, and I knwo there is acticve KKK but I do not know where they meet. It scares me when anyone is that radical. No matter what reason.
mmmcrazypills Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I would also analyze it like this. I even pity, that the picture wasn't shown clearer. It looks somewhat as if they tried to hide the picture a bit.Thats exactly what I was thinking.Couldn't be depicting a more deserving group
arrie44 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 There seems to be a greater theme of revolution in this album than anything else. Ask a black person what revolution means and they'll tell you it's when all the black people gang up around America and kill Whitey. Not saying this is what Billie is driving at but the protester in the KYE cover art is black, and you've got a KKK member hanged, coincidence? This record was long in the making, maybe he thought Barack would lose and there would be a large uprising. He gambled and lost so he had to change the direction of the record a bit before releasing it. I'm not saying this is fact, just a possibility. All that being said, I don't agree hanging KKK members is ok. The KKK hanged many black people out of ignorance and intolerance. Doing to same to them just puts you at there level. Is depicting a picture of that scenario ok??? I guess there is something to be said for artistic freedom, I think it's ok.
Kate Austen Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I was able to see it.I dunno...this is quite disturbing. Obviously KKK members are shameless, but to see one hanged. Yikes, they really went for a message here eh?
stxrlesseyes Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I think they just pointed out what lots of people have thought to doing to the KKK. Green Day just had enough balls to put it on video/picture
MusicalDeviant Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 right to the right of Christian.Has anyone else noticed this?KKK means Ku Klux Klan for those of you who don't know.thanks for Fabionei for pointing it out just now.Oh, wow. I totally missed that. But now that I see it, I'll probably never forget its there.
b u r n o u t Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Bravo. Good on you Green Day.What better way to show the times are changing than that.
