JAS0N Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I waited four years for that? You've been waiting 4 years for a new music video? Personally i'm more into the music thats played on the video but thats just me.
Colin Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 he blames it on drugs he was on because he was sick or somethingprobably crack.Thou shalt not spread horse shit bout people.
rootbeersoup Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I've been waiting 4 years for Santa to come down that fucking chimney
VirginiaFLA Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 What the fuck was that?Nothing happened. Even the fire was anti-climactic. At least with Samuel Bayer stuff happened: Their movements sped up or slowed down. There was explosions of slime, and a bleeding flag. There was a conveyor belt with different scenery and people. There was the guys playing mutliple characters. There was a war sceen, with actors and such. There was the fucking St. Jimmy video with actual shit happening.Like the song, this video kind of sucked. Majorly.Dude.. you just described the elements of about FOUR music videos in order to compare them with just this one. Of course Know Your Enemy isn't going to have all this jam packed into it - it's only their first music video from the new album. I'm sure the videos we have to look forward to are going to have much more going on in them. We just need to take this video for what it is: A performance video. I do agree with you in the simple fact that I think American Idiot was a better performance video because even then it had 'more going on' then just performing, but to compare it to all four of their music videos is a bit much.On it's own, I think Know Your Enemy rocked.
Trina Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 http://www.vh1.com/video/play.jhtml?artist...&vid=374938 This is now working for me and some other "international" people so try it out, for people who still cant see it on the myspace blog.
petrina_678 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Right i've watched it 3 times and i think im now ready to give my comments and opinions on the video . Firstly , yes I was over the moon excited that GD is BACK! Yes the first time watching it was awesome ... just because its green day!But after watching it a few more times, that novelty has worn off, and i see the video for what it is.. which is nothing more that the run of the mill "performance video" with lackluster filming and basically nothing to capture the audience with, except for the haphazardly thrown in fire. EDIT: you know what , actually the song was kick ass, it was a fistful of energy, it was anger and angst and being sick of your enemy, it was violent, it was gritty. Its about striking back, bringing down the foreman. Its about rebelling, breaking out!But did the video bring forth these images .. NO! it did not , instead it HID behind the song. wtaching the video, did it make you want to start a revolution ? absolutely NOT, and IMO that means it fails Let me refer to this quote:"And the video's simplicity carries over to the album. After all, as the first single of a huge album, this thing could've been a special-effects enhanced, green-screen infused trainwreck. But instead, it's powerful and straightforward: Here's Green Day. They rock. Watch them do so. When the band is this good and the music so fist-pumpingly raucous, there's really nothing else you need to say"Ok , there is alot to be said about simple and powerful , but this video was neither. I was expecting something mind-blowing , hard hitting and sadly this didnt reach my expectations at all. Just because a video has green day in it, does not automatically make the video awesome. I didnt really drill the message of "do you know your enemy in" , yes despite the repetitive lyrics, the video did nothing to add to the song, in fact this video could have been the music video for any number of songs. Plus it was far from "simple" , the complicated angle switching bothered me, If they wanted to go for the performance video route , they should have kept it centered on THE PERFORMANCE . The angles distracted and IMO did not enhance the song. Yes they cut to surveillance footage, and government conspiracies ... BIG DEAL. The video didnt do anything but show the obvious... but i guess the song is kinda that way too IMO a good music video should ENHANCE the song, it should COMPLIMENT IT, it should give the band a chance to go all out . For example AI did just that, it drove the message of AI home, it was in essence AI the song translated in to a video. KYE video fall flat on that. Yet AI was not overly complicated that it took away from the song, it showcased it. KYE is a boring video. And the fire at the end was kind of a joke the way it was filmed. This video could /should have been so simple that it blew our minds. I didnt feel the energy of the song in the video. But i guess in a way the song was somewhat like the video, both were repetitive , and somewhat boring .( actually the song isnt boring at all)I watched the american idiot video right after, and after seeing it for the 100th time , i STILL love that one. Anyways, I love Samuel Bayer, BRING THE GUY BACK! He had vision, he was genius.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 And here I thought it was all about the music, silly me XD.Pfft, n00b Really, I dont care about the video, the song is fucking incredible.

dallasthemenace Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 i understand that this is probably the most radio friendly tune on the album, which is why it was chosen, im sure...but i think the video couldve been better. i dont not like it, its just mediocre to me...ill rock murder city over this anyday. but i still like it.
