Starbug Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Decent read, though it felt like... I dunno. I don't like the way it was written, or something about it didn't hit me right. But nevertheless, it's always good to hear from our boys “I like to consider myself a spiritual person, that there’s some kind of higher power. But then there’s culture and religious wars done in the name of their god. That’s the manipulation."well at least that pesky atheist/agnostic question has been answered...
M3G4N Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 That article was really awkward to read, but the content was good. Now hopefully the album will live up to the 'it almost killed us' line.
Radioactive1 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 LOL @ the sun.Good interview though and I like that picture
The Disappearing Boy Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 haha, The Sun, legend.good read though
parinaz Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 uh, that's dangerous. coming from The Sun, tomorrow's headline might be "Is Billie Joe bipolar?"that was what i wanted to ask.I dont think it was a joke. and I dont think he's such bipolar person that has this disease so seriously.you know? but...um.. I guess it was obvoius that he may have it
littlelune2003 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Good article.hope this works....http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee197/l...ublication1.jpg(sorry have since seen this photo has already been posted in the Green Day section in photos)
parinaz Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 so was Billie Joe's "boogie woogie flu also a joke?
Tiffx Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Looks like Billie actualy referred to the flu as the 'boogie woogie flu'.
novacaine_kid Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 "Well the real Green Day died years ago. We killed them off.”Would explain an awful lot wouldn't it.Interesting read though, but the writing style was terrible. Still, a nice little read none the less.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Its nice he admited to killing the "old" Green Day off.Something about that gives closure...why? I dont know. Considering I love both sides of the Green Rainbow
Bexie. Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 i dont think he is bipolar.. i think we would have found out a while ago if he was. i think it was just a joke.. (sounds a bit casual to be slipped into the convo like that, if you see what i mean)the sun is really shit at writing, so it was awkward to read, and understand where the jokes were, it was poorly writtten.other than that, it was good to hear from them again! :/
Minority_GD Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 A Big WTF to the Bi-polar thing.Could he really be bipolar?bipolar persons do never know that they're bipolar.
**kookai** Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Looks like Billie actualy referred to the flu as the 'boogie woogie flu'.i thought that was so cute
pooldude256 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Decent read, though it felt like... I dunno. I don't like the way it was written, or something about it didn't hit me right. But then there’s culture and religious wars done in the name of their god. That’s the manipulation."well at least that pesky atheist/agnostic question has been answered...I think certainly more and more people are becoming like Billie describes here. Most agree something greater exists - but that very same belief is what is used to suck people in and manipulate and take advantage of them. I hate people of blind faith. They are so annoying to deal with, as they have no conscience thought when it comes to religion. But I digress..this probably isn't the thread *sigh*
Hermione Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Its nice he admited to killing the "old" Green Day off.Something about that gives closure...why? I dont know. Considering I love both sides of the Green Rainbow I don't think they meant anything by that, I think it was a meaningless joke. Kind of a lame one, like "we're not the real Green Day we're imposters, hahaha". I doubt Green Day think of themselves in terms of "old Green Day" and "new Green Day", that's just something some fans do. I know they like to think of American Idiot as a new start or whatever, but I don't think they were referring to that with that jokey comment.
parinaz Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 bipolar persons do never know that they're bipolar.but psychologist know!He may mentioned this in a funny way but that doesnt mean that its not a truth.btw.what does he mean by “Having a normal life is the only way to write good songs. If it’s a constant champagne party, then people can’t relate to you.”
Kryssi. Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Why oh WHY did I think it'd be a fairly recent interview from them? I bought it this morning around 9am and read that it was a day after the Grammy's, nice interview though. Gotta say I loved the pictures just a tad more
Roxy. Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 but psychologist know!He may mentioned this in a funny way but that doesnt mean that its not a truth.I really think he didn't mean it, I think he wouldn't say it like THAT if he was really bipolar.they do say every joke has its truth, but c'mon... all that disease 'walking pneumonia' thing was just another Green Day joke.
Hermione Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 but psychologist know!He may mentioned this in a funny way but that doesnt mean that its not a truth.btw.what does he mean by “Having a normal life is the only way to write good songs. If it’s a constant champagne party, then people can’t relate to you.”He means if you live the life of a celebrity all the time, going to showbiz parties and drinking champagne, you can't write about normal things. You have to live a normal down-to-earth life to write about normal down-to-earth things. And I really think he was joking about the bi-polar thing, he was just kidding around.
farley drexel hatcher Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I haven't looked at the paper yet, anything else decent in it? I might have to pick it up on the way to work
parinaz Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ok. we dont take it seriously. He means if you live the life of a celebrity all the time, going to showbiz parties and drinking champagne, you can't write about normal things. You have to live a normal down-to-earth life to write about normal down-to-earth things. And I really think he was joking about the bi-polar thing, he was just kidding around.oh...I thought he meant that if you write about philosophical matters other ppl can understand it or so.
Hermione Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 ^I think it's simliar to that, he's saying you have to write about things people can relate to yeah. But it's more that if he wrote about having a celebrity lifestyle, normal people wouldn't relate to it. He'd rather write about normal things and live them.I haven't looked at the paper yet, anything else decent in it? I might have to pick it up on the way to workThere's nothing else Green Day related, I enjoyed seeing their picture nice and big on the front of the entertainment section though. And I find Ally Ross's TV column on page 11 amusing
