Ayame Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Haushinka is the only one I can think of that significantly has the drums...in my head.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks you guys, I appreciate your input!! when I get home from work, I will give them a listen and try to put together a list!
Boston Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Know Your Enemy has some nice drum parts, and I've always liked the drums in Minority. Insomniac is a drum-strong album as well.
Spider Tre Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Holiday, Panic Song, JOS, Minority, and American Idiot has got some good drum parts
localinsomniac Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I was with some friends the other night and this one friend of ours a guy and his wife who are about 48 or so, they are die hard music lovers, and he plays the drums. The six of us were discussing music and when his wife said about me "She is the biggest Green Day fan in St Louis" he just said.... "Isnt that some kind of environmentalist group?" So the other guy and my hubby were like NO way .. and starting discussing Dookie and so on...So to make a long story short, he isn't familiar with Green Day. I would like to put a CD together with some songs to get him started with. I can not make a decision on which songs to use. I have been debating just copying American Idiot completely and then giving him this other compilation as well. I would appreciate your input. I would prefer songs that are kinda harder sounding or ones that emphasize the drums and would hook someone who doesnt know them. Please don't just say your favorite songThanks!Emphasis on the drums? Here we go:Armatage Shanks - my favorite opening of a recordJesus of Suburbia - shows Tre's versatilityLongview - this is a no-brainerHitchin' a RideHaving a Blast86Platypus - he hits hard in this songRejectJaded - your friend might enjoy the breakneck paceDesensitizedMisery - enjoyable because it's somewhat uniqueEDIT: Burnout! - what a killer introduction to Tre CoolAnd somebody else said Letterbomb.Hope that helps!
Haz Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 King for a day doesn't really emphasise on drums but they're pretty quickLetterbomb has some hard drumming at the beginningBurnout has a beasty soloJOS has a soloShe, good funky beatGive me novacaine, nice one to get all your limbs working togetherBasketcase, it's just good.

Katarina. Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I play the drums.. hmm.. right now I think these songs would be a good choice. Also, your idea, so copying AI + this compilation idea.. I like that! So uhm...At The LibraryGreen DayLongviewWelcome To ParadiseBasket CaseSheArmatage ShanksBrain StewHitchin' A RideScatteredRejectPlatypusMinorityMiseryAnd maybe you could also put Time Of Your Life on it.. Let's see what he thinks about that
Starbug Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Well, seeing as I've been on a Green Day odyssey for the past two days, I have noticed which songs sound the best for Tre. Here's what I think...Dookie-In the End, DEFINITELY;Chump/Longview, putting them back to back is a great idea, so they can bleed into each other as God intended.BurnoutWelcome to Paradise-This has never been a huge favorite of mine, but as I was listening to it last night, I couldn't help but get hyped up by the pure energy and insane drumming that goes down in this song. I hope they play it on tour.Insomniac-Armatage Shanks! Just listen to the intro! Suuuhweeet.86Panic Song-Of Course!nimrod-The Grouch-Just because it kicks so much ass, even thought he drums don't stand out that much lolScattered is nicePlatypus (I Hate You) bahaha great shit, and it's almost as hard as they get.Warning-Church on SundayCastawayMiseryShenanigansDesensitized is impressive.Do Da Da is short, sweet and to the point.American IdiotAmerican IdiotHolidaySt. JimmyThe Network-Supermodel Robots, definitely...FHTMother MarySallySo there are more, but those are the ones that stand out to me.End of geekout.OH OH and Homecoming
**nobodylikesyou** Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks you guys! I am making my list today from all your suggestions. I will post it when I am done!
J'net Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks you guys! I am making my list today from all your suggestions. I will post it when I am done!Great! I'm looking forward to seeing it. I don't usually listen to a song just for a particular instrument, but this thread inspired me to listen to a couple and focus on the drums. It was fun! I'm interested to see if you end up with two of the ones I liked best on your list (but I'll wait to see your list before I tell you which they were - they were both recommended above).
