Kryssi. Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm almost 19. Am I one of those cunt nuggets? I honestly learned the lyrics to "When I Come Around" before I learned the alphabet.Aww, huggles *happy* And that would annoy me to fucking shit having all those idiots claim to like them before they were born, don't worry Jordan. You're safe and you ain't no easy target

You're safe and you ain't no easy target :wink:Thanks, Kryssi. Yeah, I mean, I know I'm on the cusp of having the shit beaten out of me for saying things like that, but it's the truth. I'll pass a Green Day lie detector test, if I must.
The Disappearing Boy Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Let me just rant about something here. So on the Nimrod of the Week app I have the question, What Era did you become a Green Day fan? I have all these fucking 13-17 year olds telling me Dookie/Kerplunk! Era. How is that fucking possible, you weren't even fucking CONCIEVED YET! You probably weren't even a fucking idea for your parents. ARGH! I delete those. ranting ftwyou have a point of course.

Hermione Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Those kids are probably saying that because some people seem to think becoming a fan earlier somehow makes you a "better" fan, and they've been belittled for becoming a fan during the American Idiot era before, so they're ashamed to admit it. Sad all round, it shouldn't matter how long someone's been a fan.
Sunshine2385 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Ok, i'm a little drunk while making this topic, so it might not last. But, this is something close to my heart... Green Day. Fans come and go, but who's really in it for the long haul? I've been a fan for about 15 years now and i see no reason why Green Day shouldn't continue to be 'my' band. I believe in their music and everything they stand for. What about you? I don't think there's much loyalty in music, when it comes to bands, but i'm proud to say i'm a loyal Green Day fan. I agree!
MusicalDeviant Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Actually, I've been listening since I was sperm, now that I think about it. My parents used to go see them at Gilman and other places around the Bay Area. And yes, my dad bought 39/Smooth and played it for my mammy and I was born a month and 10 days later. Good enough?Yes!!! Also, your dad is one very lucky man. Does he still have it?
TheBullwinkle Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Yes!!! Also, your dad is one very lucky man. Does he still have it?Good to see I have your approval. Nope, he's passed it on to me.

It could be true.My best bud is 15, and she's been a fan since Dookie... her parents bought it and her mom would put it on headphones up to her stomach, and she would dance along to it... and she continued to listen when she was born, and she STILL listens to them... I became a fan during the American Idiot era but I didn't even HEAR American Idiot (other than the singles... and even that was barely) until 2 years later... My first CD was Dookie, then International Superhits!, then Insomniac and Nimrod, then Warning, then Shenanigans, and THEN American Idiot, and then Kerplunk! (Only because it was nearly impossible to find) I still have yet to get 1,039/SOSH (I have not seen it ANYWHERE!)
fashionvictim86 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Sometimes I think I'm asking it wrong...like they are thinking that I'm asking what album they listen back to or something.
Lauren Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That wouldn't make any sense, because I could listen to a Beatles record from 45 years ago, but my mom was only 3 then... so I couldn't be a fan.Yet again, we are teenagers. And teenagers are stupid.
watsername182 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I would hope I will continue to be a Green Day fan in the future.I haven't been a fan for very long (since 2005) but since then I have liked many other bands but Green Day has still remained the one that I call "my favourite band".And I've got a lot of crap for it as well.Well I guess only time can tell.
green_melly Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 green day was the first band i ever dig into. and they still are my favorite band since i was 12.and my 'love' for them hasn't changed over this years.. well i actually love them more now.and i think that this won't change in the near future i may be a fan for 'only' 4 years but i consider myself as a fan from the long haul though.

You dont have to be a hardcore fan to qualify, I still remember hearding WICA, Minority, Warning ect. I loved GD, I didnt really know who they were until AI, then I became a massive fan.Come to think of it, I didnt really listen to music before Green Day.

In fact, I hated Billie Joe's voice. I thought it was so freaking weird. But now, I'm in freaking love with Green Day and think no one is better. <3Thats not entirely true, I was a fan at like 4 or 5, when I first heard When I come Around! I only heard what my parents and sisters played. Also, I remember hearing Good Riddance. Does this mean I'm a fan since the Nimrod. era?
Guest TwoDollarMellie Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I've only been a GD fan for about 2 years.I never really thought they'd stick to me, but oh they did.Even though I sorta forced myself to like them cause I wanted to be a fan of a band (I saw other ppl going crazy about their favorite bands, and I wanted to be part of it hehehe. I was already in love with their music, but not enough to be a fan). I'm glad though, cause along the lines, I didn't really need to force myself anymore since I actually began to like them enough to make me feel like, "this is MY band."But yeah, I don't plan on abandoning my GD fandom anytime soon. Although it isn't as obsessive as it was back in 07, I actually think over time, I gained a better appreciation for their music. It feels so home-y when I listen to them .
jose armstrong Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 geez, Beatle hate too much?I went to this girl I hated to do a project and her parents had a whole room that was a shrine to the Beatles. :/just like flanders xDLet me just rant about something here. I delete those.I first listened to them when I was six, the song was basket case, and I liked them because of the album dookie, though, I didn't even know of other records, then as I got alder, (around 8 ) I started to really look for their albums and study them, so yeah, technically I liked them because of dookie.
Dai. Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 My best bud is 15, and she's been a fan since Dookie... her parents bought it and her mom would put it on headphones up to her stomach, and she would dance along to it... and she continued to listen when she was born, and she STILL listens to them...lmfao. yeah, right
MusicalDeviant Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 lmfao. yeah, right Hey, you don't know. How can you prove that this isn't the truth? Don't be so easy to judge.
Lauren Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 It IS true...I don't understand why that was so hard to believe. It's not like I said her parents are Billie's best friends and she gets free tickets and backstage passes to all of their concerts.
gdkickarse Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I liked the odd song that I'd heard of such as Waiting, Basket Case and Good Riddance but became a really huge fan during the AI era. I wish I'd got into to them a long time before but I hadn't really heard much of them. So I became a massive fan around the age of 13/14. Was never a little teenie though! I think I'm definately in for the long haul. They have remained my favourite band for the past 4 years now and nothing's gonna change me love for Green Day! Haha
starbucksfreak Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 The problem with that kind of question, is that most people assume they will be - until a few years down the road they realize they just don't really care about them anymore. What he saidBut from personal experience, i've been a fan for quite some time now and i think its going pretty strong still so yeah im sure they'll always be close to my heart no matter what =D
Tiffx Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I got into them in the AI era. When I first heard American Idiot I thought it was a ridiculous song, but my friend was a huge Green Day fan and made me come with her to their concert and since then I've been a huge fan and I've never looked back. Before AI though I was just a 14 year old kid who listened to shitty top 50 music and never made an effort to really get into music. I really didn't know any better, but as I matured so did my music taste. Now I actually appreciate music with depth and take time to really explore the meaning of lyrics in everything I listen to. So yes, I became a fan in the AI era and thank god for Green Day because they really introduced me to music.
