crazychic Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 well i`ve loved them since i guess 2004 when i got AI and they`ll always be a part of me
Mrs.Kerplunk Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I like this thread..because most of the green day fan always say "i love them to death" or whatever and then their realize that their didn't love green day so much now then like 4 or 5 years agoAnd I'm a fan for 5 years now and i really really love themtheir just a improtent part of my life, green day helped my in a lot of different ways, and of course i listen to them every day. spend much money for them, but i don't mind spending money cuz they worth it but hopefully their still importent to me in a few years ( I think so )But you can never say what will be happen in the future cuz life changes...oh and btw..sry for my english
music_that_is Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm only a fan for 5 years now, kinda new compared to most people here. I'm really not sure for how long I'll stay as a fan, as long as they continue to produce such awesome music I'll be listening to them. Yet, I dont think they'll make a new album like two years after 21st CB so I am not sure if I'll just lose my passion about them or if I wont care about them by time. Though for now I listen to them everyday and love them
St. Jimmy of New York Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm only a fan for 5 years now, kinda new compared to most people here. I'm really not sure for how long I'll stay as a fan, as long as they continue to produce such awesome music I'll be listening to them. Yet, I dont think they'll make a new album like two years after 21st CB so I am not sure if I'll just lose my passion about them or if I wont care about them by time. Though for now I listen to them everyday and love them I have known Green Day since I was 15 when Dookie came out. I liked em and there stuff but became more of a "hardcore" fan so to speak when I listened to American Idiot as I pretended I was St. Jimmy lol now I am locked in for life on there old and new stuff
Luci_Minority Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 ^ That And I really do hope they continue to be my favorite. I'm pretty sure they willMe too
Ally Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm in for the long haul, there are many reasons why i can't ditch them, one of them is the music, but many others too.I usually get fed up with a band after a few months, but doing well with green day....5 years!
suicidexmakeover Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I've got a green day tattoo which is a sign that they saved my life (it's complicated) so i pretty much will love them until i die cos if it wasn't for them, i wouldn't be here.
Nobody_Likes_You Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Green Day got me into music. I like/love(don't know if thats the right word for it) them for 4 years now. I think I will still be a fan in a few years, but who cares? I mean if my musical taste changes, then it's just natural and I won't care about Green Day anymore.
Beathe. Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I grew up with Green Day, my aunt is a complete Green Day freak. I've always listend to them but I didn't really care much about who they were and things like that intil AI. I'd gotten older and wanted to know what inspired them and so on. I'm not a big fan anymore. I listen to them sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I've gotten into a lot of other bands. I don't know what's going to happend only time will tell. No matter what I'll always remember how much they meant to me.
dookiak Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Courtney and others have pretty much summed it up for me. For me its been about 15 years and I'm obviously here, so I'm still dedicated. Green Day is just a part of my life. Everyone who knows me and meets me learns this and learns to accept this lol
DarrenDookie Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I was how Andres said a lot of people end up when I first started liking Green Day. I figured it would be a phase, I'd only like them for as long as they were popular. But when I discovered Green Day I was only 12, the age my brother is now, and I was still growing up. To me it's sort of like, Green Day grew up with me in such a great part of my life. The years between then and now have been some of the best parts of my life. They helped me make some of the best friends I have now. They were such a good part of my life that they've stuck with me. I know it's only been 4 or 5 years I've been a fan but it just doesn't feel like a phase. They're very close to me and I would like to say I am in it for the long run. I can't see myself never liking Green Day. Especially as I started liking them during American Idiot, and then had such a HUGE wait between AI and 21st CB. I think that if I was ever going to stop loving them it would have been through that huge gap in albums. But they've stuck with me and I'm happy about that.So yea, I think I'm in it for the long run. Pretty much word for word what I was gonna say
alexandrez Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 i've been a fan since 2003. i was 13 at the time, and liked blink, and somehow found green day through them.at the time music wasnt really important to me. i liked green day but nothing special. even when they released AI. i knew their hits pretty much.until i saw BIAB. i remember coming back from school EVERY SINGLE DAY and watching that DVD at least 7 times a day. that was when i started looking for their stuff on the internet and got obsessed. found all the albums, all the B-sides, side projects... thats when i found GDA/GDC, even though i only got an account later on, and started posting even more later on.but i think i've never respected them and loved them more than right now. every project, every album, everything they do pretty much, shows me that green day are real musicians, not just some rockstars. being a rockstar is just a side effect, for the best or for the worse. they do it for the music. It's amazing how i pretty much love every song they make, every cover song... that just shows how much of a musical genius billie, mike and tre are.they are just so different, and are so above pretty much all of the other rock bands around. Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Panic at the disco... those seam just a very cheap copy of what green day does.i think i can say that Green Day are The Beatles of the future to me, but even better.so i guess i am in for the long haul.
14razorbacks Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I first got into Green Day when I was 11. That same year I started playing guitar, and the next year I saw them live at MK. I didn't have any friends at school or anything like that, and Dookie really introduced me to this whole counterculture idea that people don't need to be perfect or cool, and that with the two chords I knew on guitar, I could easily be in a band. Now I'm 16, and Green Day are still my favourite band, always there for me. They are 'my' band, and much as any band can be anyones. I thrash through Green Day songs on the same guitar I got when I was 11, now completely scratched up but still great. I'm not old enough to be able to say I'm an old school fan or anything like that, but I can't see how I could NOT be in it for the long haul. Green Day is very close to my heart. More than anything else in the World, I can relate to Green Day.
gdpunk2 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 A good topic here...Well i hope to think im in it for the long run, i mean, ive never had a passion for any bands music before until i heard of Green Day. It was them that got me into music. Yeah so ive only been listening to them since American Idiot, ive had times when ive stopped listening to them because I wanted to hear something new, but ive always been patient waiting for them, and now its finally happening! And since KYE, ive been listening to them all over again. I go through this stage when I listen to a band like im crazy, then i go off them and listen to another band like crazy, but ive always loved Green Days music, and what they stand for. They changed my life, and im not being dramatic there or anythin, i genuinly believe that. Just a straight forward great band, no doubt
Whatserekim Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Well, I truly hope I am. and I can't see my self not loving Green Day forever.I've been a fan for Five years. and so far I've never stopped liking them.So I'd say I'm in it for the long haul. Because I truly want to be.
Trina Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I am as loyal to them as it gets.Green Day are my band. I love them. They mean more to me than words can describe. They're family to me.I have loved them since I was 11 years old and plan to for the rest of my life. I'll always be their fan. It is probably the only constant in my life.I'm not going to try and get into how much I love them...I'll be here all day. Lets just leave it at I owe my life to them, literally.(even though I'll probably come in here spewing my guts out later )I've got a green day tattoo which is a sign that they saved my life (it's complicated) so i pretty much will love them until i die cos if it wasn't for them, i wouldn't be here.Glad to see I'm not the only one (I haven't got my tatto yet though, still in the early stages of design )PS I Fucking love this thread. Can't wait to read everyones lovely comments.I don't think there is another band in the world that can help peoples lives like this...They're more than just a band. It's hard to explain, but people who truly love them get it....It's a Green Day thing!
Nele Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Oh i was 10 or 11 when I got into them and yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm in for the long haul.I could wait for their new album and I surprised most people I know because they thought it was just a little teenie thing. Well it was not.I guess I said it often ehough here but I'll say it again: Green Day cahnged my life. Their music awoke my desire to play the guitar and wrote my own music. Not just listen to it even if that's the easier way. Also they brought me into a lot of other great music. And with music, I couldn't live anymore. So, I'm in for the long haul.
Katarina. Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Count me in I guess, I'm in for the long haul I've known Green Day since I was 11, and have been a fan for something like 5 years. I love every song they have, and I'm really bad at explaining things like this, so I'll just say they have a special place in my heart.^^ Haha, yeah, I guess it really is a Green Day thing
Alan86 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm in for the long haul. I've been a fan since the nimrod days. Hitchin a ride just grabbed me. I can't see why i would ever stop listening to green day.
Angela. Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I'm in it for the long run. I've been a fan for 5 years now, and I still love this band as much as I did the first time I listened to them. These guys have honestly changed my life. Before Green Day, I didn't know much about myself. I didn't really know who I truly was. To be honest, I was always the girl that stayed quiet, and constantly did chores and homework without giving myself a break, just to please my family and teachers. I never took any chances. I just went along with what others expected of me, because I didn't want to dissapoint them. I was never happy, of course. But I didn't know what I could do. I assumed that the same old boring routine was just the way it was supposed to be. I assumed that life was all about working and living up to society's standards. But after I went on the computer one day and came across a live version of Extraordinary Girl, I knew that Green Day was an amazing band, and I knew that I craved to listen to more. It really took off from there. This band helped me break apart from the mold I was made into. They helped me understand that society's standards were stupid, overrated, and a facade. They helped me realize that trying to please everyone around me was stupid. Thanks to Green Day, I was realizing that there will always be people that hate you, and consistantly trying to win them over will never work. I realized that if someone doesn't like you, they don't like you. And if they try to bother you, you need to stand up for yourself and tell them to fuck off.Besides, a lot of the friends I have are the result of conversations about Green Day, and music in general. And I've put up with a LOT of shit from people, just because I liked Green Day. I deal with people on a regular basis who are always making fun of me just because I like Green Day. They always say, "Green Day sucks. Their music is stupid. It's boring. But *insert stupid, overrated 'band' such as the... Jonas Brothers () here* are amazing. You should listen to them. They actually have talent." If I wasn't in this for the long run, I would have given in and listened to what people were telling me to do. But I've constantly told people to go fuck themselves when they put Green Day down, so I think that shows dedication. To sum it up, this band means the world to me. I have a ton of respect for Billie, Mike, and Tre'. Hell, I'd take a bullet for them. And like *Trina* said, they're like family to me, and I would do anything for them.
Guest Hayley Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I hope I won't loose my interest in GD any time soon but I'm not sure if that's possible. But they will always be a huge band for me.
fashionvictim86 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Green Day are my Beatles.Actually I think they are a hell of a lot better than the Beatles. I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I hate the Beatles.
Morgan7 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 St.JimmyLied, I know what you mean So... I do think I'll be in for the long run. They have changed my life(as stupid as that sounds) and I still love the band
rage-love-life Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Green Day let me truly just find a meaning for my life. The lyrics just affect me on a level I can't explain. When I'm upset, they cheer me up. They got me thinking I wanna be in the music industry for my career because of how powerful an influence they were on he.
