Ayame Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 dont worry, once the album is in stores it will go wild there. its different for us in North America cause its closer to us but there they're on a whole different planet almost Yeah, I'm pretty sure Green Day would be the new 'trend' after May 15th.Haha, whole different planet? Maybe they are...they'd probably finished making the album long ago, just took them 4 years to send the album here to the earth.
Ayame Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 i was referring to the nation of Australia but that works too Riiiight, heh.Excuse my stupidity
Ayame Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 it wasnt stupid cause green day has been on saturn for the last 4 years Oh good, so I'm not stupid.Know Your Enemy on 31st on Top Songs chart in New Zealand.
frankiessister Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Wow! Everybody so excited here! Keep one thing in mind: AI was Green Day's first number 1 album; even Dookieonly made it to number 2. So they don't really have that great a chart history.I'm just pointing this out so that you don't get all too disappointed if the new album doesn't hit number 1.And anyways, is a good chart position really that important? It doesn't say anything about the quality of the music just about sales. I personally don't give a rat's ass about the charts and you are way too serious about this. Just my opinion...
amy_runs Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Are they still ranked number 3?edit: wrong threadedit: This is the right thread! lol
St_Jimmbo_88 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 That's amazing how we're beating past albums and songs that have been out for weeks! We'll be #1 before you know it.
perfectpitchrob Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I'm hoping this album starts another music revolution...A little history lesson for you all, enjoy! - - 1955, Chuck berry and rock and roll knocked jazz off the top of the charts (even though I'm a jazz fan, heh) -1964, the beatles knocked bubblegum rock off the charts (if it wasn't for the beatles, there would be no green day) - shudders! -1967, the beatles, again, helped move along the psychedelic music revolution, with "strawberry fields forever", and "sgt. peppers", and from there, music got more progressive untill... - 1977, enter the sex pistols, clash, ramones, buzzcocks...PUNK ROCK! A blast back to simpler 50's rock and roll music with a hard authoritative edge. Sadly though, at that same time, the synthesizer was being used more and more and so was the drum machine. Enter the 80's, the era where good music hid in the underground - 1991, Nirvana, grunge, the death of hair metal - 1994 - DOOKIE!!!!!!! - punk is reborn! - 1999....ER...boy bands, poppy hip hop that's all about "clubbin' and stealing riffs, and...brittney spears....bleagh...as much as this WAS a big change in music, it paved the way for the rancid synth, auto-tune, and fake music that is all over the charts today BUT THEN.... -2009 - 21st century breakdown - an album so good that it puts pop, hip hop and miley cyrus music in a coffin and seals it for good. Real music is reborn again and people rediscover rock and guitars! ....ok....that hasn't happened yet, :/ but I can dream right!

That would be my dream, but you need more then one band to start a revolution IN THIS DAY AND AGE. Yeah the Beatles did it by themselves back then but....no wait, if this album is sucessfull enough, I spose they could do it!
Trotsky Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I really don't care if Green Day are #1 or if they don't even get on the charts. I care if the album is good. Honestly the best music I've ever listened to has come nowhere close to the mainstream ever.
