mitzymoo Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Well, now that i've officially heard ALL of the songs of 21st century breakdown..I'm really starting to wonder why they chose know your enemy as the single.I understand that it's the catchiest and most repeatitive song on the record, but my god man! There are soooo many brilliant songs on this record...WHY THAT ONE!! I guess it's smarter to save they best song on the record for 2nd single.. or 3rd even..just to keep the interest going.I just heard before the lobotomy, and holy crapola. But its the easiest song to get into on the album, and the song with the least emotional attachment. Their not putting their best foot forward, their putting their most accessible foot forward.

But even if it's not the most emotional attachment, it's still brilliant. I love every second of it. I bought it on iTunes at about 5:50-ish (eastern time) and i got to listen to it once before me and my dad left the house. When we were in the car on the way to Wendy's, we turned the radio on. The end of "Longview" was playing, and then the radio guy said, "That was Longview by Green Day, but have you heard some new Green Day yet?" I did sort of a squeal (one of my fan-girl moments, i suppose), and turned up the radio. My dad just laughed at me. But it was awesome that I got to hear it twice in a row.

Catchy and simple/repetitive are not synonymous, they can do catchy without writing something my nephew's band could bang out in 5 minutes.
