Dylan. Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I didn't know that about Horseshoes and Handgrenades. Huh, interesting. Now, what the fuck is a Charlatan?
J'net Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I didn't know that about Horseshoes and Handgrenades. Huh, interesting. Now, what the fuck is a Charlatan?Well, I can't get all the emoticons to show - need to reboot my computer, but if I could get them all to show, I would be adding the "Google is Your Friend" one right about now .

Rezurgam Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I didn't know that about Horseshoes and Handgrenades. Huh, interesting. Now, what the fuck is a Charlatan?Basically someone who is assuming a high position when he is actually a fake.
pooldude256 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Well if it's the opposite of a Saint I assume it is something bad. :google: Done for J'Net. Haha.
Freeny Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 My favorite lyrics so far must be these ones:from See The Light:I've been chasingDown the pool hallsThen I drank the waterFrom a hurricaneAnd I set a fireJust to see the flameand these from East Jesus Nowhere:I am a killjoy from DetroitI drink from a well of rageI feed of the weakness with all my loveCatch up the captain, hey hey..Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the album. It's the maintopic in my mind right now, no matter how obsessive that may sound. >< [btw, hope this reply wasnt totally off-topic?]

This is for discussion of the lyrics afterall.
Hermione Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 ^I think it's about as on-topic as you can get! Ha that line from See The Light was one that really stood out from all the lyrics to me too, I love that imagery. Also this from Last Night On Earth is just beautiful:You are the moonlight of my life every night I still haven't read them thoroughly though, every so often I go over to GDA and take a quick look at the odd song. It's very enjoyable
J'net Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 :google: Done for J'Net. Haha. Thanks, but it's just showing up as broken link for me. I must be emoticonically challenged today .
pooldude256 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Thanks, but it's just showing up as broken link for me. I must be emoticonically challenged today .Oh that's sad to hear.
Dylan. Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Probably my favorite line that I have read comes from East Jesus Nowhere:I want to know who's allowed to breedAll the dogs who never learned to readAlso I fucking fantastic line from Last of the American GirlsShe comes in first placefor the end of western civilization
simonluigi Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 What the fack happened to the bleed america bleed-version of 21ste century breakdown?I liked that last part so muchOk, scream is also not bad but bleed...oh hellrock on
ferryfan Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 i can't bring myself to read the lyrics. i don't even really like seeing the song titles. i just really want to listen to the album for the first time without knowing anything in detail about it. anyone else not reading the lyrics, listening to the songs from the live shows etc.?
farley drexel hatcher Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 ^ I'm not, and I know a few others who aren't either
pooldude256 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 ^ I'm not, and I know a few others who aren't eitherYeah there are quite a few of them. On the other hand, I don't think I will be regretting watching them at all. The music is what I live for, not just the 2 hours of hearing an album the first time. But hey, to each their own. I respect ya'll who can resist the demo, the lyrics and all the live performances everyone else is enjoying. :whistling:
Dylan. Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I think that some people are taking this Green Day virginity thing a little too seriously.
J'net Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I think that some people are taking this Green Day virginity thing a little too seriously.I can't believe any one else cares or even takes notice if we decide that's how we want to please ourselves. :whistling: Some people even seem to be outraged by the idea . I've decided I just find it funny now.
Another Wise Ingrate Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I don't know if anyone has mentioned this little mistake from ¡Viva la Gloria! but:Gloria, Viva La GloriaYou blast your nameIn graffiti on the wallsFalling through broken glass that'sSlashing through yuor spiritI can hear it like a jilted crowdAlso, I am loving this verse:Cater to the class and the paranoidMusic to my nervous systemAdvertising love and religionMurder on the airwavesSlogans on the brink of corruptionVision of blasphemy, war and peaceScreaming at youIt's so dark, but its so true about all the bullshit the media forces down our throat on a daily basis.

farley drexel hatcher Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I think that some people are taking this Green Day virginity thing a little too seriously. Not really, I do it with all new music, but I find I especially like to do it with Green Day as their lyrics are some of my favorites and I like it when i'm hearing something new, that I haven't seen before. I don't want to hear the songs and think "that's cool but I already knew that". I can't really explain it, I just think the lyrics mean more to me when I am hearing them with the music instead of reading them off a computer screen.
Seedless_Reject Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 i'm trying to keep the whole album like a presant/ surprise. I don't want to ruin it.
