marie1986 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 yeah the lyrics seem more dark and depressing.wow. i'm liking it though.
.Brian Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 i love the lyrics, though they are very dark especially see the light BTW: the amazon.de-tracklist i posted was true
Lauren Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 i love the lyrics, though they are very dark especially see the light BTW: the amazon.de-tracklist i posted was true I really like it, because it's not the same as most people's songs they write nowadays. They may be "dark" but the music is amazing, the melodies are amazing, and he doesn't sing with that stupid "indie" accent!
GreenDayGummyBear Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 yeah, it's more serious than American Idiot because it feels like a darker story. It's no longer about being an apathetic runaway, and more about the world falling apart, and having some part of that.I can tell... they talk about fire and chaos a lot... it's kind of depressing but it's based on true facts. what they're singing about is really going on. when AI cam out, i was real little. I had no idea what was going on with the world. I remember a time when my mom, sister, and i where singing to songs and having a blast one Sunday. in the background the news was on and talking about the war. I had no clue what they were talking about it so i ignored it, but my mom stopped, and changed cds so that we were listening to GD. I had no idea why. I didn't understand politics or anything. Now.. I understand. And with these lyrics... it's like they are screaming at us to pay attention to the damage that is going on in the world.
-Bruce Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I really like it, because it's not the same as most people's songs they write nowadays. They may be "dark" but the music is amazing, the melodies are amazing, and he doesn't sing with that stupid "indie" accent!Do you mean the mock British accent? To tell you the truth i really miss it, i love the way he sang with that fake accent that sounded like an American imitating a British man imitating an American.
M1KEY Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 im so confused that im throwing all my green day shit out right now and never listening to them again. thank god for pinhead gunpowder and hopefully that new network album doesnt take 5 goddamn years to come out.LMAO Now we know what happened to "Drama Queen"... he's right here on the forums. I wonder how 'we are the class of 13' is going to carry itself out as a line in '21CB.' Because it drew itself out to the right timing when it was 'we are the cries of the class of 13.' I'm sure it'll sound just as good.We never had official lyrics, they were just interpreted. I always thought the line was "we are the class of the class of 13", and in that case, the lyrics would be correct, because the written lyrics don't often repeat lines or words even if they repeat in the song.
erioldarkmoon Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Hey first post ever. But I'm surprised will all this talk of the nigger line no one has notice how it's pretty much saying that RELIGION and not Billie is racist. the martyr is a compulsive liar -the maryr is usually the big JC) In East Jesus Nowhere the FAITH FANATICS are sayingstand up- all the white boyssit down- all the black girlsThat to me is much more ballsy than just saying nigger. I also noticed how some songs seem to call back their other albums like someone already mentioned.

J'net Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 LMAO Now we know that happened to "Drama Queen"... he's right here on the forums. Mikey - you never fail to amuse. But seriously ... yeah!Hey first post ever. It's always nice to have more people who love talking about Green Day (especially their lyrics - you'll find some of us on here who could discuss their lyrics for the rest of our lives and never get bored ).
AtTheLibrary19 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I have a feeling a lot of the conservative critics are going to really slam the band for the whole use of the N word. But it's obvious that Billie is not using it to express his own opinion, but instead a character's opinion or a certain group of people's opinion. Just reading through the lyrics, this album sounds like it is going to be much more controversial than AI, especially with East Jesus Nowhere and Mass Hysteria. While AI was controversial for sure, making fun of George Bush was starting to become a popular thing and it wasn't too difficult to disagree with at the time. The 21CB material seems much more mature and controversial than last time in my opinion. I am definitely way more excited for it now though

M1KEY Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Erm, i doubt it. There are tons of fonts that use small caps. I dunno whether it is or not, I just don't think so. I really doubt Billie writes with spaces inside the letter Keeping with the stencil graffiti theme I see.so im wondering if song of the century is just gonna be that repeated 2 chord thing anymore? cause now theres a lot of lyrics for it so maybe its an actual song?Well earlier reports called it the "intro", so I'm thinking it's something pretty short, maybe a minute or so.
Take me to Christie Road Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Shit, I caved. I couldn't hold off any longer. :teehee: This album is going to be epic.
Eirik Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Well earlier reports called it the "intro", so I'm thinking it's something pretty short, maybe a minute or so.Yeah, I think it might just be the website teaser with lyrics really.

pooldude256 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 The lyrics for East Jesus Nowhere are sick. Same with the rest. Can't wait for this. GD sure know how to get the fans craving. I'm chomping at the bit now.

justcause Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Yeah, I don't know if one single is going to hold me over for a month! I'm so ready for this, I can't believe it hasn't already happened. It's happening right now - the words are a music in themselves.
J'net Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 It's happening right now - the words are a music in themselves.Yeah, but I'm greedy ... I want it all!
pooldude256 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Yeah, I don't know if one single is going to hold me over for a month! I'm so ready for this, I can't believe it hasn't already happened.I know! By the time the album comes out we'll have worn out KYE and be ready for the other 17, though. I'm just thinking how awesome this is though. Yeah I'm impatient, but basically since 2006 - when I was still in high school - I have been searching for any bit of news for a new Green Day album. Now, it's about a month away, and within the last few weeks we have gotten a preview of the new song plus the lyrics, not to mention all the reviews of the songs over the last few months. In what seems like a down year for music (from my perspective anyway), GD is gonna shine through it. These lyrics are hard-hitting and I'm really looking forward to the music to go with them.Perhaps it's because I've listened to the KYE clip so much, but there's something about the verse "Bringing on the fury/the choir infantry/revolt against the honor to obey" that is chilling. To me...it's like the military not taking the bullshit in Washington anymore and doing what is right, or something like that. I just really like the line.Yeah, but I'm greedy ... I want it all!I'm greedy too - bring on the music.
Robin105 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I'm so excited. I copied and pasted the lyrics and tracklist onto a word document. I want May 15 now!
M1KEY Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I'm still stoked that the Know Your Enemy single is being released on my birthday this week. I win! Omg... I just realized... my mom's birthday would have been May 15. Wow... that's weird. I like it though...
amy_runs Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I love love love love love Horseshoes and Hand Grenades.
