Astrid. Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 ^I concurOh good! at least we have SOMETHING to figgure out. Like we're ever gonna come to a conclusion
she* Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Argh these lyrics are awesome Can not wait for the album!
Hermione Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Oh good! at least we have SOMETHING to figgure out. Haha this is true. And I bet that won't be the only extra mystery noise he adds in
Comrade Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 It is well known that rapers are the forerunners in music charts today.
Marlon_GD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 19 SONGS?! Technically, "Mass Hysteria" and "Modern World" are one song The song American Eulogy. So 18 songs
Ingrid Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Haha this is true. And I bet that won't be the only extra mystery noise he adds in Hah, they would probably find it hilarious how we spend so much time trying to figure out little things like that. In a way, I'm glad they didn't put the 'right here/wahey' thing in there, I sort of like the fact that it will remain a mystery. And I'm not reading the lyrics before I get the album. But I like the artwork =)
Marlon_GD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 what happened with Drama Queen? They apparently left that one out, and replaced it with Song of the Century That is what we all generally presume.
Princess Consuela Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Fun of figuring out the lyrics won't miss me even though I already read them. I still don't understand many words or expressions so I'll need to look those up.
brownie Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 cool tracklist, 18 songs will be awesome, the lyrics dont work for me so ill check out the page andres set up
Trotsky Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Videogames to the tower's fallhomeland security could kill us allI want to know who's allowed to breedAll the dogs who never learned to readMissionary politiciansAnd the cops of a new religionLittle one, little oneYour soul is purgingOf love and razor bladesYour blood is surgingDid you try to live on your ownWhen you burned down the house and home?Did you stand too close to the fire?Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stoneI am really, really liking these lyrics. Green Day's writing ability has impressed me more so than ever before. And an answer to Basketcase? Took them a decade to figure it out. Well I'm not stonedI'm just fucked up
Tripe Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 There, posted up the lyrics that were postedhttp://www.greendayauthority.com/newalbum/lyrics.phpThat was some serious typing! Much easier to read, thanks. And your bit about reposting the lyrics made me laugh - "don't be an asshole."
J'net Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Well it sounds like a good thing that you read them then. I'm really intrigued too, I think I'm just very obsessed when it comes to lyrics.Me too! It never in a million years would have occurred to me that they would publish the lyrics before releasing the album. And now I have a real dilemma, because I maintain the New Album page. Andres put the lyrics out there last night (because I obviously went to bed about 4 minutes too early), but I told Andres I would check them for typos, so what can I do?I think I'll enjoy reading through them once or twice and then maybe wait a while for the album. I don't know. This is going to be a completely different experience from any previous album I've ever gotten. Maybe I'll learn them all by heart before May 15. That could be fun I guess I'll wait and decide after I've done my QA this morning. But the lyrics!!!! I'm with you Hermione - I'm a lyrics junkie.
Tripe Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 How can you all read the lyrics just like that? If I read them it'll be almost the same as hearing the album to me. I can't do it!I'm the same...I have scanned the lyrics but am not really reading them until I have the music with it. I'm weird that way.
J'net Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Well, we still have: "right here/wahey/well, hey/ri-aight" in KYE. Yeah, you're right - but I'm much less likely to believe that is actually words now (like right here or round here), and I didn't believe that anyway - especially after seeing the 90 second video. I think it's wa-hey or possibly sometimes rah-hey and most probably a combination of different sounds with hey on the end.
farley drexel hatcher Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I really love reading new lyrics, but I'm not reading this, I want to wait till I hear the songs. I might let myself read KYE if it's there but that's about itI hope they don't start showing up in people's sigs and things, though
J'net Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 ^I concurOh good! at least we have SOMETHING to figgure out. Yeah, they can't just spoon feed us everything! I've decided I need to stop listening to Dookie while I read these lyrics - this is something I want to give some proper focus to - a Sunday morning treat .
justcause Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I really love reading new lyrics, but I'm not reading this, I want to wait till I hear the songs. I might let myself read KYE if it's there but that's about itI hope they don't start showing up in people's sigs and things, thoughI think you can abandon that hope - those lyrics are words on fire, nothing's gonna hold them back.
Kate Austen Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 For the most part, lyrics are good. But as others have said, some quite shocking. I def feel a Pink Floyds "The Wall" vibe to some of the tracks (I can almost hear Roger Waters spitting the lyrics out with malice). Then again, these are just lyrics. I have to hear the actual song.Last Night On Earth was the only one I didn't care for. The lyrics were pretty damn bad IMO. Really cheesy. BUT..as I said above, I have to really hear the actual song. Lots of people said it was their fav live, so I'll give this the benefit of the doubt. One things for sure, this is Green Day grown up. They aren't fucking around (at least lyrically, I had to take a step back when reading some of them).

A year ago though if I read that I would have been like "Wow this sucks". But I don't know, if he wrote it with purpose then it's good.

But on paper, those lyrics are pretty well...lol But I guess you are right, when you are in love, def changes things eh.
perfectpitchrob Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 It is well known that rapers are the forerunners in music charts today.and that's why most music today is awfull!Good to see a final tracklisting though, 18 songs! Plus I'm sure there will be b-sides, so this is a huge catalog of songs that have been put out.
Tripe Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I hope they don't start showing up in people's sigs and things, thoughThey will for sure. But I ignore most sigs, anyway!
