Tyke Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Dude. Can't believe the hand thing worked. In 2002, my friend and I made a HUGE poster with the names of 10 rare songs on it and stood right in front. BJA read it, laughed out loud, and played, of course, 2000 light years away. That's sick Tyke. Did he mess up all the lyrics like he did at the 2000 Boston show I got them to play it at? Tell me more about Worry Rock.He played 80 fine. It was interesting to see them play some of the older - requested songs because, well billie forgot some of the verses. I believe he messed up coming clean - but anyways, several of the songs it was clear Jason White didn't know how to play, so he followed along until he got it. Also for many of the requests Billie would turn around to remind Tre how the song started
djrossstar Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 Of course. It has Worry Rock, Android, Strangeland, Private Ale, etc. AND a picture of Speedy the fish!
M1KEY Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Of course. It has Worry Rock, Android, Strangeland, Private Ale, etc. AND a picture of Speedy the fish!Oh Speedy. What will we do with him when he dies?
djrossstar Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 That's so funny Tyke. I have definitely seem BJA mess up lyrics to many of their older songs. Actually, at Roseland in 1997, he messed up the words to Longview and actually mentioned that he's played the song 'over 100' times and he had no idea how that was even possible to forget them! Did he almost play any other songs but stop early?

Tell me more about Worry Rock.Oh yeah - i forgot to talk about worry rock. So they did take many requests, but also did have a setlist to sort of go by. I saw longview and some others on there, but this was the opportunity to see live songs that they dont play at every single live show...so it was cool.Anyways, Worry Rock was especially good (well and one of my favorites) but it was cool to see Jason stick around for the older songs (well - if nimrod is old..) but many of them, like i mentioned he doesn't really know, so for worry rock the first 20 seconds were him trying to catch on. It was really solid, really slick, and i think they put in a new energy to songs like that beause they aren't playing that song every show..
TheBullwinkle Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I'm listening to Live105 right now, and Madden just said that Green Day's doing more secret shows around the Bay Area and that they'll be the first people with the info; I'll relay it to you guys when it happens.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 *Sigh* I really wish they'd make a secret appearance in the New York area...
Juan Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Wow, that's a cum-tastic setlist, lucky bastards that went there, they still need to bust out Scattered though, that's my fave
djrossstar Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 That's great Tyke. Great job on the requests. I've got them to play everything from 80 to On the Wagon before, but it definitely wasn't easy. Hopefully I will make it out to the show next week. I'm more than confident they will do this in SoCal, although probably not AS MUCH small shows, so I CAN'T MISS THIS!
jnine13 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 When they hit SoCal for secret shows we have to team up and make the ultimate setlist so we are all yelling the same requests. Tight Wad Hill!It was sooooo annoying. The people around me were all constantly yelling for Basket Case. It's a great song, but c'mon, they play it ALL the time.

shalamar Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I was there last night and i know they definitely didn't play 80 or stuck with me but they did play worry rock and blood sex and booze.
TheBullwinkle Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I was there last night and i know they definitely didn't play 80 or stuck with me but they did play worry rock and blood sex and booze.Um, I was there, too, and I know that you're definitely wrong. They played "80" and "Stuck With Me".
Tyke Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 He did start some songs but stopped. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly - and sure i was slighly intoxicated...I remember him starting a - uh -dylan song? I don't honestly remember what it was, but it was familliar but when i got home i forgot it, so i couldn't google that. Damn. Also with grouch he played maybe through the first verse, then brought up a girl to sing it. she knew a verse or so, but forgot most of it, so BJ came in - and i don't think they actually finished that song.

TheBullwinkle Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 okay what song was before it and after it?Do you think I actually remember what order they played the songs? I'm sure anyone else on here who went to the show will say that they played "80" and "Stuck With Me".
jnine13 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I was there last night and i know they definitely didn't play 80 or stuck with me but they did play worry rock and blood sex and booze.Yes they did.I think those other people were so into Basket Case because they haven't seen them very many times. They weren't IC people.

If she was there, she at least heard them. Perhaps she isn't as familar with them. Regardless, it was fun.

jnine13 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 He started Nowhere Man, sang a little of it, then he started a lot of different old, famous rock songs just on the guitar, I thought he was going to do a lot of covers, but he stopped them all. He turned to look at Bill S when he was doing it and was smiling like it was a joke between them. Unfortunately, I can't remember what they were. He had Bill totally cracking up when he was doing Swanee , California Here I Come and Baby Face.
henderson dirnt Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Holy hell. That's amazing [:I really wished I lived in CA now...Oh well, things will get leaked and we'll be able to see eventuallyAnd going back to old songs they should play.....I Was There and The Judge's Daughter.I'm so stoked they played Blood Sex & Booze, and 80. I freaked out when I read that.I'm so fucking glad they're back.
mandypants19 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 reading about the amazing times you all had is bittersweet.
