Are you going to wait to hear the album?

There are some hardcore fans here about listening to the album in an ultra-ritualistic way. I can imagine them getting their Japanese gold-plated CD in the mail and lighting incense in their room to prepare. And removing the CD with a cooking instrument as to not smudge it with their hands, placing it in the player. And then midway through Viva la Gloria their boyfriend/girlfriend comes in and they're like "YOU FUCKING RUINED IT" *STAB*

Hahaha - you're probably including me in that group, but based on what I've written here, I doubt you have much idea of what I'm really like. I do plan to make it a special day - just because it's something I've been looking forward to for SO long. But there are no rituals involved. I just want to have a good, quiet environment and be very comfortable when I first listen. I don't want any stress or distractions to reduce my enjoyment. I'm taking steps to make it more likely that I'll get that experience, like taking a vacation day, but I've done that for less compelling reasons than Green Day's new album.

And even though I don't want to hear the songs beforehand, I do have a reason for that. I just want to hear the album as a whole - especially since the songs are related - and I want to hear it at its highest quality for the first time. I think it'll be more fun that way. If someone comes in while I'm listening, I'll just pause it until they're gone. I won't even give them a dirty look - I'll be too high on happiness! No incense, altars, or black magic for me (not this time ... ).
