greenbear Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 The problem with clips being played is that it gives people a chance to make snap judgements on the whole song. 90 seconds is a good chunk, but it's not the whole song. It's probably not even half.You have to take into consideration what the people who designed the clip were doing. They were hyping a game, trying to give off energy to further fuel the people who are into the game. Therefore, they're going to use the most energetic bits of the song, they're going to use repitition, etc.I like what I heard though the parts of the song they chose to use were repitious. If the whole thing is like that then it probably won't be the one I keep going back to on the album, but I'm gonna wait until I actually hear all of it before I judge the song as a whole. Anyway, I really can't think of a Green Day song that ever bored me. There's a lot of room left for it to go different places If the rest of the somg isn't an improvement I'll be disappointed.If the rest of the song is an improvement and the whole thing works in total, then WB haven't done Green Day any favours by putting out a rather repetitive clip which people are going to make snap judgements.We'll just wait and see. I'm hoping for the best.

It won't turn them off; they're used to it. The music video, which will feature the whole song, is going to be better for marketing anyway.

Especially not explotions...my point being, Green Day never needed explotions...because they are better than that. Takes the focus off them as individuals. I know there is a lot of fans around the age of 15 here, and I think us "older" fans see Green Day on a whole different level.

I think it would be awsome for a live show, just not for a music video.

And I do see this as a marketing gimmick rather than trying to give the fans anything. I'm just surprised its not being played on the radio yet as we're only just over a week away from release.

I've spent the past fifteen years with the same 90 songs. I'd say I have a good sense of what a good Green Day song should sound like by now.And I would love to discuss my disappointment with others.
