poisonoak Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 There are no plans to release the movie, so the audience at the theater could be the only people who will ever see it (officially).noooo~~lucky people.... at least release it on dvd or something...
J'net Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 This reminds me that I still have to write my review If I waited till now to write my review, it would be very short . I can't hold everything in my memory that long! I have to write my notes as soon as possible after the show and then write the recap or review right away. Otherwise, I'll forget at least half of it.
Sarahnade. Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I really wanna see this. Great review.This.I really would love if it was released as a DVD, but it doesn't seem like they have any plans do do that. :/

J'net Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 That's why I was wondering what ever happened to the petition website for the DVD release...I think there came a time when it was obvious that there was some strong determination somewhere to not release the movie at this time. We don't know where that's coming from, but there's no point in beating our heads against a brick wall. At the after party, Dean Gonzalez speculated that it could be released for the 10 year anniversary of American Idiot, which would mean 2014. I think that's the best we can hope for right now.
Supermodel*Robot Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I just don't understand why they don't want to release it. I wish we had a legitimate reason, that would make it seem more bearable. It's like holding a piece of candy in front of a toddler & then sticking it in your mouth.

Just because we want it doesn't mean we're entitled to it (though I certainly want it just as badly as anyone).

Putting it out now would be awkward because 21CB is doing well and they are touring, but putting it out for the 10th anniversary would be amazing. The musical is sort of bringing AI back in the spotlight, though, but I think it would be cool for people to look at how they made the album, and see all the work they put into it, and realize it's still important 10 years later.
darenmay Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 maybe warner and reprise had legal issues.but i wish they release it.we have the right to see it. Ha!
Mar Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Another scene shows Billie Joe in stark black and white crying as he listens to playback of Whatsername. This is my favorite song on AI, and if I were to ever see this movie, I would probably cry like a baby at this scene. I really hope we can see this someday. It's weird, everyone's commenting on the 10 year anniversary, and I thought "oh my God, that's so far away!" and then I realized we're already halfway there. My how time flies!
Kryssi. Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 We don't really know why this is being held back by Warner. And 'When it's Time." wasn't written for Adrienne. It was actually written when Billie was with his ex-girlfriend before he got back together with Adrienne.
Michael128 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I dunno if any of you guys have read this review. It's from HLAHG's IMDb message board. by rosssenack (Fri Mar 27 2009 10:06:30) Ignore this User | Report Abuse ReplyOn March 25th, 2009, I attended the one and only screening of “Heart Like a Hand Grenade” at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California. Directed by John Roecker "Live Freaky! Die Freaky!"), the film is a two-hour documentary of the making of Green Day’s 2004 record American Idiot.“Heart Like a Hand Grenade” was the perfect mix of studio banter, recording, songwriting and rehearsals, blended together with clips from the band’s first performance (in support of American Idiot) on September 16th, 2004, which, of course, I attended.Rather than recite the entire 120-minute masterpiece, I will put the spotlight on my four favorite parts:Watching Billie Joe alter and add lyrics to the song “Letterbomb” (originally called “Clusterbomb“) was unbelievable. In my opinion, Billie Joe is (in my opinion) the best lyricist of all time and to see his mind at work sent shivers down my spine.Another highlight was seeing Billie Joe record vocals for a few of the songs without any music behind him (He was listening to the music in his headphones, which we couldn’t hear.) The man has an incredible voice, that nobody can emulate, and to hear his voice on its own was something I‘ll never forget.Towards the end of the film, Billie Joe performed a song that was left for American Idiot. No Green Day fan had heard this song before … ever. A slow, acoustic number, the song was honest and heartfelt. Although the lyrics were hard to decipher, it was obviously a love song, most likely written for his wife Adrienne.I am on the Green Day message boards everyday and it’s nice to know Billie Joe reads the boards too from time to time. One clip in the film shows Billie Joe mocking haters on the boards, repeating lines he’s read such as: “Warning sucked. That was their worst album.” "'Kerplunk! Was their only good record.” “Green Day need to make another record like Dookie.” “Green Day’s music sucks now, but Billie Joe is sooo hot.” And my personal favorite, which I have read time and time again … “Why do Green Day get fat when they aren’t on tour and then get skinny when they go back on tour?”American Idiot ends with “Whatsername” … my favorite song on the record and the one that fills me with the most emotion with each listen. Billie Joe actually cried in the film, for the first and only time, while listening back to the song. It’s at this moment that you can tell how honest and real his lyrics truly are. He writes from the heart. The film ends with a 10-minute jam session by the band, featuring Billie Joe on drums, Mike Dirnt on bass and Tre Cool on vocals. It’s a hilarious song about drinking that is intertwined with short little clips that were left out of the film.At the very end of the movie I was left speechless. I had just witnessed something most will never get to see. John Roecker has no plans to release the film in any other theaters, online, or even on DVD.The theater was packed with Green Day fans from all over the country. One woman flew all the way from Germany just to witness the creation of (in my opinion) the greatest record of all time. It was a reunion of fans I’ve seen at every Green Day show in the past and will see again during the 21st Century Breakdown tour this May.As a bonus, Roecker created small programs for the film. One page in particular is the original track list for American Idiot. Notice how different it is from the finished product:American IdiotJesus of SuburbiaHolidayBlvd. of Broken DreamsAre We We AreSt. JimmyBagdadClusterbombWake Me Up When September EndsWe’re Coming Home AgainWhatsernameI am still in shock over “Heart Like a Hand Grenade” and I can’t wait for Green Day’s new record, 21st Century Breakdown, on May 15th.here's another onehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt1018728/usercomments

I might not even still like Green Day by then.I think some of you'll agree with me when I say the sooner we get HLAHG out, the better.
Sarahnade. Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 OH OH I DO, I DO.Yeah, you're right. But I've wanted HLAHG to come out since...forever? And tbh, I forgot about it because all the talk about it died. I do really, really, really, REALLY, want it to come out. Maybe I've just accepted the fact that it probably won't come out. Unless they do decide to do the 10th anniversary thing. (WHICH YOU SHOULD, GREEN DAY. SRSLY.) Reading the review again was hard. I want the damn thing so freaking bad.

So maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised and it'll be released sooner than 2014.
Michael128 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I saw a video on youtube and it also had that Hanna girl recording her part on Letterbomb. Does anyone know from what documentary that is from?

I would love it got released soon, but if it were to get released someday, I'd be happy.
