I need to sort out line spacing etc, but here's a quick draft (apologies for the long post). Please let me know if you think there's anything I could add/change:

To whom it may concern,

I write on behalf of thousands of Green Day fans across the world.

As you are no doubt aware, a documentary was filmed to record the making of 'American Idiot'. The film was made

by director John Roecker and after numerous, lenghty delays, was screened recently at The Egyptian Theater, LA.

Fans from across the world we're invited to enter a competition via Green Day's official website and fan club to

win the chance to attend the screening of the film. It was not stated anywhere on the website, from yourselves or

the band that this would, in fact, be the only screening of the film. Fans that did not get the chance to watch the

film were given the impression that it would later be released on DVD. The director himself seemed confident that this

would happen in an interview shortly before the screening.

We obviously do not know if any discussions were held regarding the DVD release between this interview and the screening

of the film. Fans who did attend reported that the director had stated it would not be released. Obviously, since the

screening of the film, it has become clear the film will not be released on DVD.

As committed Green Day fans we are obviously greatly disappointed to hear this. The small amount of fans lucky enough to see the film have all

stated it was an enjoyable, interesting documentary that gave real insight into the creative process of making 'American Idiot' and the

personalities of the band themselves. The album is considered the most important of Green Day's career by fans and critics alike.

After buying concert tickets, merchandise and CD's, fans would be only too glad to buy a DVD as well. The demand is clearly there.

Since the screening, numerous theories have inevitably emerged as to why the DVD is not going to be released. The most common appears to be

that as Green Day's record company, you do not wish to possibly overshadow the release of the long awaited follow up to 'American Idiot'

('21st Century Breakdown') by publicising material relating a previous album. This would appear plausible were it not for the fact you plan to

re-release all of Green Day's previous albums (including, ironically, American Idiot itself) on vinyl to celebrate the band's 20th

anniversary. Also, it has since been announced that a musical based on the album will be staged later in the year.

As I have mentioned above, the follow up to 'American Idiot' is eagerly awaited. A DVD of Green Day's previous album will not change this.

We are all loyal Green Day fans who would all like a chance to see the film, not just a chosen few. The Green Day Authority website is a

large, well known fansite which often updates with exclusives before anywhere else. It would be a great shame if the users of this site

never got a chance to see the film. Hard work and the site administrator's own money go into the running of this site for the enjoyment of

fans across the world. Although this is done on a volunteer basis, I'm sure you would agree that it would be a shame to see this go

unnoticed and unrewarded.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, a response would be much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Nicola Bell

Why thank you, Jaymee :) Or I could've called them a bunch of clit heads, but ya know, you can attract more flies w/ honey and ice cream than vinegar

BAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA

I love you.

Oh my fucking God, Nicola!

That was the best response I've read for this. It's got really strong points in it and it was very carefully and creatively written. It was lovely. I think we should send that one.

It's weird how no one apart from Andres, who saw the film last week, haven't wrote in this thread.

Maybe they think that with jsut one time they saw this, it's enough but..

When we make that someone ptus this out, they would love us! lol

Both of those letters were very well written. I'm waiting on Mr. Roecker's response to Andres, as well as a creative moment where I can come up with a good letter (if I need to resort to that). It's wonderful that a lot of people are pulling together to get this documentary out.

I really want to see this, so it better get released or they'll all have me to answer to.

Never underestimate the power of a Green Day fan, much less a bunch of them joining together. Shit will get done :D

That was the best letter yet. :D. Send this one, I'll think it will work! :)

I'm all for Nicola being the chosen letter to send forward to Warner. I'm not sure just how good Warner are at replying to e-mails or the like. Even though only two people have written letters in response to trying to get Warners attention.

I just hope they aren't snobs and don't respond to us just because we're a community.

John on the other hand, I don't know what he's up to. I used to talk to him a bit, then he stopped talking all together, like he forgot about me. I've been leaving him comments and even messaged him to see if I could interview him but I haven't got anything back. I often give up.

I agree with you. I really do think Nicola's letter would force them to release it.

Thanks ! I just rattled it out and tried to be thorough. It's a shame John doesn't get in touch, I'd really like him to see the letter before it's sent. Hopefuly they will give some sort of response, I think it's a pretty reasonable letter.

If anyone else wants a go, feel free.

I'd love to forward that e-mail to John, but I don't know if a) he'd read it, b) he'd respond.

The letter you wrote is exactly what I would've put into a letter, but maybe not in the best way that it would need to be written in.

Posted

Both letters are quite good..

But I'm not going to send anything untill Andres says that John knows a way that we can help him..and of course, we can help US so..

I think the best option right now is that those members whose wrote the letter, could send it individually....

Haha, I didn't think it'd get this far. I'm going to find the old thread that I made ages ago for this.

Two great letters there, you both get across how we're feeling so well and make excellent points as to why it should be released really clearly. I really hope we can get somewhere with this.

Posted

Me too, Hermione. I'm not going to write a letter, I think the two we have so far are really good, and I'd like to see some more come up. It's nice that some of you want to contribute to help getting this released, or just thought about more than they're (Warner) probably doing right now.

I agree :)

I think this is the ebst way, but...we still have to wait for some news from John...
