^Not really, the poster sounds cool (though I doubt it's gonna be a new picture), but the "everything you need to know" thing's probably just gonna be a bunch of stuff we already know about Green Day...

Please don't ever link Tokio Hotel and Green Day together ever again. PLEASE

This. Right here, this.

That was a fantastic write-up! I have never been more excited about the released of any album from any band, and this article just fueled that fire.

I may have to buy Q for the first time in about 10 years

It sounds like everything you need to know about the band is on the poster itself. Maybe it's just the way they phrased it or something.

I think Green Day has a right to be as overly political as they want. I don't think they switched us all to being liberal. What they did is make it okay to go "wait a minute, what the fuck are we doing. why are we complying to President Bush just because he is our president. Fuck you." They made it okay to speak our minds without fear of public crucifiction.

So basically you're saying that AI screwed the Bush Presidency? I think it was his actual policies that did that. But I think your point is they inspired a lot of youth to look beyond the surface, and to form political opinions, rather than lying on their parents.

Nothing pissed me off more in high school than political discussions and someone would be like "OMG Bush sucks so bad, my parents don't like him" or "I'm pro-life because my parents are. Hello people...wake the fuck up. Form your own opinions. Think for yourself. I don't care how old you are it's never impossible to think about and research issues for yourself, unless you're like a baby.

And I think what 21CB will be is trying to get people to get involved again. You might have voted for Obama the last election, but stay involved, keep up on the news and the issues at hand. Otherwise we just end up as a group of mindless sheep. I believe that's what Billie has been saying as well.

I think the magazine overplayed the politics of American Idiot. There were 2 songs that dealt with the anti-Bush movement and the rest were more about the storyline of the album.

Great point. I think a lot of people only recognize those 2 songs, though. And somehow they think WMUWSE and BOBD are some sort of fancy protest song (and well look at the video of the former).

If by politically charged they mean "more political than 99.9% of other albums today," then they have a point. It's sad how we have almost no protest music anymore. There is definitely a lot to talk about.

Overall, it's punk. Overall, Billie Joe writes about what's been happening to him. Punk tends to be political, and there is no shortage of political issues to talk about in today's world. I don't see the problem, it's going to be good music.

He meant he does all his drinking and partying and stuff like that in private, not out where cameras and people can see it. He does it around people he trusts. At least, that's what I got out of it.

I think American Girls was started because of Adie, but grew into more, too, I think. Does that make sense? :)

but wait. he meant the self destruction. i dont think partying and stuff means a self destruction.

and what does he mean by that shiney red button?

well, Hermione there was one maybe two articles where they declared the media was brainwashing America's youth and they must listen to the real facts. well, little did Green Day think, the youth thought that meant listen to their music and they would have a good grasp on politics. well, everyone was like, "yeah dude, totally if we like totally listen to Green Day's music you know we might like understand how the political world works." wrong, just completely wrong. Green Day told them to not listen to the media, yet Green Day is a part of the media. hmm, something's peculiar about this. i can't quite put my finger on the word i'm looking for. Hippocrates, no, no that's the man who came up with the medical oath. Hypotenuse, no, that's the longest side of a triangle, usually. Hypocrites, oh yes, that's the word i was looking for!

I don't think they tell people not to listen to the media in a literal sense. If people didn't take in any information from the media they'd be pretty badly informed! It's what you do with that information that counts - and Green Day have always said people should take that information and come to their own conclusions from it. When they say don't listen to the media they don't mean "ignore it completely", they mean "don't follow it blindly".

There's a difference between telling people what you think, and telling people what to think. Green Day only partake in the first one.

who cares??

why should we be so interested in this man's self destruct mode, just leave him be.

and an advert just came on the tv there advertising Green Day in Q magazine. quite coincidental, since i was on this page exactly when it came on.

What I think he means by pushing the shiny red button is like letting the punk rock rebel out like. Like just wanting to cause trouble and throw a few bricks and that. Thats how I think of it anyway.

I think a lot of people build a gold monument to Billie Joe and always expect him to meet or exceed this expectation of greatness. The fact is that he is 100% human and makes mistakes. Everyone is wondering what he meant by self-destruct button. I mean, the man has seen more people destroy themselves with drinking and drugs than most of us. He takes this shit seriously and doesn't play around with it, especially now that he is the voice of a generation. Most of us would like to be able to just chemically induce happiness, but what Billie has been saying recently is that he has been there and it's just not worth it. Sort of like,"I have been to the mountain top" sort of thing.

hmm, i let this go by, my mistake.

i'm not going to apologize on how i type, i type according to a legend, something i want to strive foward towards. it doesn't matter if there is beat, i'm not writing in blank verse or iambic pentameter. i use punctuation, so if you want to pick at me for my typing, you clearly don't know who you're messing with. i capitalize proper nouns, that's pretty much it. if i have respect for something, i capitalize it. it doesn't matter about intelligence, it matters about the proper way to type and write. many modern day grammaticalists question the use the capitalization, such as the question of the use of the comma in a list. i don't care, i wouldn't trust Oprah in the first place. it's your fault if you can't put the effort into reading a book. you're not going to skim through books and get the idea; if so, that's why wikipedia was created.

post script Tre is not hot, he's an aging middle aged man. (:

lol <3 Billy

Mmmmm "A massive poster pull out special" - sounds interesting.

Sounds interesting indeed! Gah, I don't have the money to buy all those magazines xD

wooo got a copy eventually, awesome article. And so are the articles on Kerrang and NME though they are pretty much the same as Q but with less detail! And rock sound also has a big poster mag thing with it, just got random green day facts on it, "Things you might not know" though i think i already knew them all... Its not a new poster either, just one of the ones from AI, like usual! ( i think the poster has already been mentioned somewhere... but oh well, told you again!)

:woot: WOW

I love the article. 17 or 18 songs? AWESOME

I love the pictures as well. It's kinda weird to see Billie smoking, but who cares..

I bought two issues of Q magazine earlier

and one of RockSound. I also bought NME as it has like a nice sized picture and article about the new record. I'll be buying more copies of Q soon for those of you abroad who can't find one in their native lands

haha.

and the RockSound poster pull out is cool. Although there's like one mini poster that I'd love to put up, but it's on the other side of this huge one that's amazing. All the 'facts' about the boys is kinda old and everyone should really know the 20 pointers already. They also list the top 5 Green Day shows of all time. The number one spot was when they did the Nativity Scene in Wigan back in '91.

Oh how I wished I was older than 2! (back then that is.)

It was amazing. :woot:

What a shame I can't buy it here.

wow

that's great! :D

I love that pic of Billie on the cover

I hope I can buy it here

I got the right copy today, and I must say, it's rather a good read.
