i honestly have no idea. I'm probably gonna download it because it'll be on the internet before its at wal-mart. Then i'll go to the wal and buy it and maybe force some other people to buy it too. I'll probably start guitaring and tabbing immediately.

Ooooh ... will you share your tabs?

3. Listen to it on my Discman, outside in the garden.

I thought about listening to it outside, too, after I've heard it for the first time on the surround sound. But, where I live May could be freezing cold, steaming hot, raining, or snowing OR we could be having a tornado. I can never count on being able to be outside, so I'll just play that one by ear ...

Well my last day of class this semester is May 8, so I suppose I'll just lazily crawl out of bed in an early summer morning and if I have money I'll go get it, if I don't have any money at the moment I'll download it. And I'll sit in front of my computer listening to it while surfing the internet and amusing myself by watching the insanity here at GDC.

If the album comes out on the 19th, I will be relaxing after the conclusion of finals (finals week is the week before). Then I'll get the CD, listen to it, and come on here and discuss it. It will be magnificently refreshing.

Several people have mentioned in various threads that they're anticipating their first listen to the new album and many seem to have a special idea of how they're going to do it. I'm starting to make my own plans for a day revolving around 21st Century Breakdown. My special day starts with taking a day off work so I can focus on the really important event of the day. Here are some of my thoughts so far:

In the last few days leading up to the release, I'm going to re-listen to all the previous Green Day albums in order - just for fun and to make sure I hear all those songs that don't shuffle around as often.

On the day of the release:

  • Sleep until I feel like waking up
  • Make sure I have the CD (I'll probably get it the day before, but if it doesn't arrive, I'll go buy one)
  • Make a good breakfast - like for a holiday - eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, coffee (I said good, not healthy) and a mimosa - or a pitcher of mimosas
  • After breakfast, kick everyone else out of the house for the day (note to self: requires advance planning)
  • Put the new CD on the surround sound system in the family room - sit back and relax - pitcher of mimosas and mug of coffee at hand - and listen for the first time - just listen and let the sounds wash over me - just soak it in
After that, I'll listen many times for the rest of the day - listen for the lyrics (I like to listen a few times myself before reading them - leads to some interesting misunderstandings sometimes). Then I'll listen while reading the lyrics and start to get a feel for all the multi-layered interpretations I know Billie will make possible.

Then, the next great fun will be logging on to the forum and discussing thoughts/feelings/impressions/ideas with everyone else who's also been listening. It's going to be SOOOOoooooo good!

That sounds like a fantastic day. I'm not sure I could manage all that but its given me somrthing to think about - apart from the album itself obviously.

I've pre-ordered it so it depends on whether it arrives early or if I need to go out and buy a copy. I'll try to make as much free listening time that day as possible but it may need some planning. Given me something to plan though :sherlock:

We just need a firm date now so we count down the days :D

After I'll buy it i'll run home and listen it all day long

*perfect day*

Ill download it and listen to it throughout the day. Then a couple days later Ill buy it.

Yes, it will make it a lot easier to request the day off work when I know which day it's going to be :)

I feel sorry for students who will still be in school on the day, but I feel jealous of those like John and "pooldude256" who will be on their breaks. Oh to have the luxury of extended lengths of time to do as I please ...

I probably have to go to school that day, but i'd hate it. And my mother won't let me stay at home and if i say i'm sick at school and go home after the first lesson my mother will probably freak out :D so i think I'll be just getting it that day in the mail or I'll get it in the local "Hertie" store a day before it offically comes out(I got the Black Parade is dead DVD by My Chemical Romance there one day before it came out).

When I hold the record in my hands, I'll put it into my computer(glad i have a Dolby Digital system there:)), turn up the volume, lay down in my bed(that's right next to the computer) and enjoy listen to it.

The second time i listen to it, I'll look at the Lyrics and sing along as much as i can:) Maybe I'll also be looking at the lyrics the first time i listen to it.

But I actually don't want to over-listen it, so I'll probably just listen to it twice or three times that day.But we'll see :)

i'm not sure i'll get it on the release date but once i do, i'm gonna put it to my computer and listen to it everytime i'm on which is most of the day

I'll probably fake being sick to get out of school, otherwise my mom would never let me take a day off. Then I'll tell her that I have to drop my homework off at school, but instead I'll drive over to the record store and pick up the album. I'll come home and listen to it in my room for the rest of the day. All the while praying that no one bothers me like they always do. At the end of the day I'll come on the computer and put it on my iPod, and come on GDC to see how much people are freaking out. And, like someone else said, see how many people joined that day.

:o How could you lie to your own mother!

Well, I'll probably wake up, go to school, and either come straight home if I pre-ordered (I can't decide if I should or not), or walk to HMV after school to buy it. Then I'll get any homework out of the way.

Then I'll probably wait until I have the album on my iPod, go up to my room, lie on the bed with the lyrics and listen to it the whole way through multiple times.

After that, I'll come on here and decide whether I want to read all 100+ pages of discussion on the new album. :D

I've pre-ordred it so it will arrive in my mailbox :D When it arrives I open the package, take the CD out and go stright to my computer and put the cd in the player and put the speakers on max volume :D without thinking of my nighbours

I don't do it very often, but when I do, it's not that hard :whistling:

I checked with my friend who owns a record store and he said they WILL stay open until 12am the day before the release. YAY!!!!!!!

So I will walk down there, buy it and run all the way back to my apartment and kick my roommate out for the rest of the day so I can listen to it in peace.

Wow, that's awesome! I seriously doubt there's a store here that will stay open until midnight for this release :(

I'm almost sure I have to go to school the day it's released. So, after I'm done with school, I'll go to the Free Record Shop as fast as I can, and buy the album. Then I'll go home, put all my schoolstuff away, and sit on my bed with the cd in my hands.

First I'll look at the cd itself, then the back/front cover, then the cdbooklet.

And then.. I'll put the record in my cd-player, turn the volume up as loud as possible, press play, and just, like jnet said, let the sound wash over me :]

After like three times or so I'll try to sing along while reading the lyrics.

Oh, and when it's weekend, I'll listen to all of the albums, and then listen to 21st century breakdown as long as possible.

(So now I basically have a very good reason to start planning things such as my homework  )

And maybe I'll go to GDC to see other people's thoughts about the album, and just see people freak out, and look how many people joined that day :]

I'm sure I will forget EVERYTHING once I've pressed play and the first song starts..

It kinda depends on when in may the cd comes out, but I know I'll definetely be buying the day it comes out. If it comes out at the end of May, I'll probably have exams, and I won't be able to take the day off school, but all exam days are half days anyway. But, if the cd comes out earlier in May, then I'll be taking the day off school and reveling in all it's gloriousness all day :D

and oh, I've got free from school May 21 and 22, you too? it's Hemelvaart (don't feel like looking up the translation x)) I hope that'll be the release date (don't think so, but still), that'd be awesome:D

and May 11 and 12 are the days you can resit one test from the testweek...they've got to release it after that x)

hm. I know nothing about oklahoma but I had a feeling they might stay up past 12 because it usually closes at 11pm anyway and it's in kind of a younger neighborhood. :sherlock:

i can't wait for this.........

nothing all too detailed, but i have to be alone with my radio and a do not disturb sign. lol. usually when im really exited about a new CD ill just sit down in front of my radio and listen to the whole CD, probably closing my eyes.... and then after a couple run-throughs i usually grab the lyrics and listen/sing along with those. gotta learn the lyrics otherwise it's not as fun!

i pre-ordered, so im going to be waiting by the mailbox for a while, haha... oh! and then, because i havent listened to it yet, im going to listen to the leaked demo after the CD so i can hear how they changed it :)
