 You're right. I like it, too. It's a lot of fun to talk w/ other older green Day fans. Most of this forum is WAY young, ya know? It's really fun and rare to get to talk to so many of them in a thread.

Hell yea, don't you feel 16 again. lol.

 That's an awesome story  I think it's great how they've influenced so many people to get into different kinds of music. That'd be a great job to have.

yeah, i can honestly say for the first eight years of my life i purely listened to classic rock and pop-punk. i think the only exception would be Bob Marley with Reggae, but my horizons have obviously expanded. first from pop-punk to alternative, to ska, to jazz, to blues, to indie, to almost everything under the sun. i can't listen to Green Day on a daily basis anymore, i got so tired of them quickly. i go on what i call a Green Day diet. while i may not appear to be a fan, i actually am, i'm very calm and relaxed with it.

Yeah we're the ones who haven't "grown out of them" or were disgusted by American Idiot (my drummer being one of them).

The music notes are kinda special, cuz not everyone knows what they mean, lol. Every time I show it off, I think

I DECLARE I DON'T CARE NO NO MORE!

The Kerplunk daisies are cool.

I just gotta get like one of the most original Green Day tattoos, I wanna get cartoons of the band with logos n shit from different eras. If I get it done, I'll deff post a picture.

 Right aawwwn

:D well i am glad i made a thread of happiness

Me too!

Hooray for Kerpunk tattoos. I've had people see the girl a buncha times at my job and they're like "That's the most interesting tattoo I've ever seen" (which it's most certainly is not) not knowing it's from the cover. Only like two people have ever known what it was and they were both in bands.

I think muh daisy is a common tattoo in GD circles, but like you, NOBODY knows what it's from. They just think it's a cute lil flower. But I really enjoy getting the opportunity to tell them the story behind it... See, me and my best friend that have the tatts have been best friends in Green Day for 15 years. I'm SO blessed to have been able to share all of it w/ her. We're both massive fans.

I honestly don't think I will ever grow out of them, they have influenced me so much.

AI was different, but I like different, it was a more mature album from 3 guys who are in their mid 30's, we will never get another 39/smooth or kerplunk, but I'm glad we had them, classic albums!

I've never outgrown them. I've not been as 'active' as I am now, but NEVER have I given up on them or disliked them. They've always been my favorite band. Ask anybody that knows me  There are a few certainties about me, and that's definitely one of them.

I actually kind of grew out of them for a couple years after Warning came out, just got into lots of other different styles of music at the time. I only got back into them again when I got into old Jawbreaker stuff and got pop punk screwed back into my head and just remembered how awesome they were again. They've been a huge influence on my own music as well dude (see my sig.)

Nah, they're shall never be another 39Smooth or Kerplunk but it wouldn't be the same anyway. I'm excited to hear new stuff.

AI was definitely different, but I knew from the 1st time I listened to it that it was something very, very special. I think it's the jewel in their crown, whether anyone liked it or not. Creatively, it was so epic and ambitious. No, it wasn't about whackin' off or waiting for your parents to die so you could get your inheritance lol but, it was still current, and it still spoke to me. As long as their music does that, I think it'll still be good.

This is honestly the best thread ever. I feel so good talking about this with yall. Were gonna be the 40 something year old's who go see GD when they become the Rolling Stones of our generation and have a casino tour or some shit.

Haha perhaps. Who would have known they'd be this big today. And they sure have the energy to be playing forever, which I'm sure they will.

i used to beg for news, it was quite sad.

i must say i'm much more intelligent now that my love for them has slightly perished.

unfortunately for me, i see no end coming.

i'll play optimistic like Tigger.

Yup, I feel about the same way on that. As I get older so does their music. It still speaks to me in the same way as it did 15 years ago.

I had a whatshername in my life, sometimes I feel that album, AI really speaks to me at high points and low points.

Yup, I can see it now. We'll be cursing at all the young wippersnappers, lol

 I'll meet ya at the Hard Rock in 2025

I didn't know they'd be this massive. Not that I didn't think they were a good band, but I have ALWAYS felt they were underappreciated, at least critically. They're evolving and turning into legends. That's something for us to be proud of :)

Much more intelligent? lol I don't understand... Maybe that's what you're talking about lol But I don't feel un-intelligent for loving them as much as I do. I feel smart for listening to damn good music.

And news makes my freakin' DAY! lol The demo? I stayed up past 3 in the morning the night I got it, geeking out like a fangirl. And I'm 29 years old  I pay my bills, I take care of business, but GD is what I do. It's my biggest hobby, and it's fun as hell to be a part of the hype for this new album on this forum.

I had a 'whatshisname' in my life lol I highly identify w/ that song. But 'She' STILL has me pegged. I've always had doubts, always questioning my own point of view. I don't wanna stagnate. But I have the dream of someone coming along and taking heed just for me :) But I"m a girl like that!
