Well we've yet to see a scan of this article, right?

I don't think we'll know for sure till we at least see the titles first-hand in a scan of the article, not a second-hand source that said it's expected...

Holy fuck I need to go down town and find Kerrang! More and more Green Day-ness, I can't handle it :woot:

 Death Of A Nation, I used to have the Anti-Flag song as my alarm to wake me up for months. I like the titles, very grand and epic sounding.

I want to have all those magazines in Poland

I stopped buying Kerrang ages ago. I shall however make a special exception and pick up this copy :)

Omg!I'm so excited I want the new album now!! :woot: :woot:

I know I am being a bit paranoid here, but Green Day might not only find inspiration from publicly known bands: http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...showtopic=66054

Daniel Soxic of Soxic Music released his song "Death of a Nation" in May 2008 and before anyone say's, well there's not a chance in hell they have heard his song, everyone should know that he is the person behind the "Green Day Hoax" incident. I don't know if they have any personal contact or if they know each other in any way but I don't think so. As far as I know this guy lives in Sweden. I hope no one is offended by this, because I know some will react with anger, but all I am saying is that anything is possible. Stranger things have happened. The title itself isn't the most original, I agree, but if the song also sounds anything like Daniels I will be very surprised.

I don't get what you're trying to say - that they ripped off this guy just because the title is the same? Wouldn't it then be just as likely that they ripped off Anti-Flag, who also have a song called Death of a Nation?

And sorry if I'm being stupid, but what is the "Green Day Hoax" incident?

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. I am saying there is a possibility because no one can say it is impossible. Since this guy's music has a strong connection to Green Day (Green Day Hoax and all) it makes it even more possible. Do you honestly believe a well known artist cannot find inspiration in unknown artists? It has happened before. Daniel Soxics song "Death of a Nation" doesn't even sound remotely close to Anti-Flags version, lyric wise or anything. It is quite obvious he never even listened to that type of music. Regarding Green Day's track, sure most likely it may only be a coincidence that one of their songs is called "Death of a Nation" even if the odds are amazing. You figure out the odds yourself but it's like lottery odds. I don't really care if titles are similar, especially when they are not very original but if the melodies and lyrics sound the same, then there is definately something fishy about this. I guess we will have to wait and see. I am not saying I am right in any way. I am only observing things. To most of you who do not even know who Daniel Soxic is or dont listen to his music I understand it sounds crazy, but to me who listens to his music every day and adore him like you adore Green Day it came as a shock really.

We don't even know if they have a song with that title yet. Plus it's not exactly an unknown title, is it? You shouldn't jump the gun and accuse people - or at least put the idea out there - with no proof.

I am not accusing anyone, where did you read that?

It's not an unknown title but still, of all the combination of words, what are the odds, that is what I am asking myself. And you talk about proof as if this was a court. I thought this was a discussion forum. There will never be proof for stuff like this. People have to judge for themselves.

I'm so excited and slightly pissed I missed out on all the fun for a jam with Inci0078 and JSS

16 tracks :woot:

and touching on Starbug's comments - I too hope that there'll be some silliness :D

The odds are not that of 3 random words being used in the same combination. Death of a Nation is a phrase which may be coommonly used and so shortens the odds enormously. The chances of two songs using a silmilar phrase as a title is not unusual at all, especially as from what we now of the album so far the title would fit in well with the overall concept

IF the title is used for a track in 21st CB, and IF it sounds similar musically and lyrically to the track you mention then there may be something to discuss.

Yeah I agree, that is most likely the case but there is also a fairly good chance that it was not a simple coinscidence. It's not only that it is a relatively common phrase, which in all honesty I do not think it is, but also the fact that there is a connection between the artists, even if it is hardly noticeble. Like I said, call me paranoid or whatever, but as a fan of Soxic Music you have to see it from my angle. Any of you who would have been listening to his music would react the same way, especially since "Death of a Nation" is his most successfull track to date. Another funny thing, which doesn't mean a thing is that "Yearning to breathe free" was released in May 2008. Green Day's new album will be released in May 2009. :D

I am going to explode.

The living dead? :woot:

It sucks Kerrang isn't available in my country! I always have to buy it off ebay.. which sucks bad, 'cause there are shipping costs

Posted

I think you are paranoid about it  but I don't blame you if he's a guy you're a big fan of.

Let's just wait and see.

Yeah I am probably being way too paranoid. But I promise I will be on needles until I hear the song. :D

British folks!!!! Get us scans!!!!!!

hardly says anything in kerrang, not even an article of there own, just one measly line at the end of "blink reunion" so crap, if they were putting it in there they should have had at least 2 paragraphs. not just "green day announced there album would be called 21st century breakdown" or summat to that effect. Stupid mag

British folks!!!! Get us scans!!!!!!

not actually worth scanning  there is a tiny pic which is already on here, and it says (ok a bit more that a sentence but oh well)

Green day, who have been recording their follow up to the multi million selling 2004 American Idiot, presented led zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss with best album for Raising Sand. The duo scooped five awards in total at the ceremony

During the show, the band revealed that the album will be called 21st century breakdown and will be released in may

its not a big article any only quarter of a page the rest of the article is blink 182 reunion.

i just got it too

pretty disappointing. doesnt say anything about new tracks.

Okay so it hasn't in any way been confirmed that there actually is a track called "Death of a Nation"?
