Why do I feel like 21st Century Breakdown will also be the name of the record? The big news is probably that they are releasing two records. One in May and only towards the end of 2009.

That would be terrible. It was bad enough watching GD open up for blink the first time, but if blink are really coming back, they would have to play last again. I think Green Day will tour alone this year with The Living End and The Bouncing Souls.

For some reason, I'm sceptical about all these performing and announcement rumours.

Surely if you were releasing a highly anticipated album, you'd do a proper press release rather than turn up to an award ceremony and either blurt it out on stage or the red carpet ? Besides, if they did that it might get overshadowed by the performances and award winners.

Also, if they were performing I'd thnk we would have had some confirmation or leaked info by now.

I wonder if it's to do with the third act on the album ? They mentioned the other two in the AP interview, but not the third as they didn't want to 'spoil the suprise'. Although I've no real idea like everyone else obvs.

Green Day and The Living End toured together in 2000/2001 and it was the best line-up I've seen. Samiam opened up too. Little known Green Day fact: Tre Cool played drums on Samiam's entire You Are Freaking Me Out record.

Every Green Day fan and their Mothers know that GD are releasing an album this year. It has to be something a little bigger than that.

I think so, too. Even the exact date of the release or the title wouldn`t be that "cool stuff". We know, we will get that news sooner or later this year. What everyone is really craving for, is the new songs. Which are all done recording, as we assume.

So, why is it so way out of line to think, that they will actually perform one of the new songs? The more I think about it, the more lame it would sound, if they were just standing there like: "Oh and our new record will be out on that date and it is called whatnot and goodbye..." No, it has to end like this: "And now we will play one of the songs of this record and it is called...."

And no, I don`t think the album will be titled "Whatnot and goodbye".

Do you REALLY think that Green Day announcing a highly anticipated album would be overshadowed by some measly awards? We the fans DIG for whatever Green Day news we can, and beleive me the Green Day fandom isnt just a tiny group of people So if they announced even a new song name there'd be massive excitement among the fans. Green Day arent exactly the type to do things by the book either, so it seems fitting that they could announce whatever the hell they like

Absolutepunk.net posted the info about Blink-182 reuniting on stage and Green Day was mentioned very briefly at the end.

Or, maybe something totally unrelated to the Grammys is also happening on Sunday? Far-fetched, I know, but I don't really see how any other 'cool thing' could happen at the Grammys, it just doesn't make sense, for all the reasons you stated.

If they played, it probably wouldn't go down like that, I imagine it being entirely dark there, and then a "lullaby" starts playing (as described in the AP article), and then the lights go on and it "explodes into a 4/4 blast of chiming guitars and rolling toms". : DDDD
