Like, there's a town in Washington called Longview and billie was telling a story (and it was completely bullshit) about hanging out with kurt cobain and kathleen hanna at someone's house in Longview and just sitting around and drinking beer, hence the name of the song.

farley drexel hatcher Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 They play King For A Day because it's probably one of the biggest crowd pleasers they have. Although by this point they'd have been playing almost nonstop like that since Nimrod so i'm sure they'll mix it up for the next tour.

Allthough, I know where everyone's coming from with the older songs thing, I'd probably cry of pure joy if they played scattered

I think it's great how they really go to town with putting on a fun show like that, it'd be such a laugh to see that live As far as I can see it's part of something they've done since the early days - playing little bits of songs that sound similar to theirs. Like how they'd play a bit of Sweet Home Alabama during Disappearing Boy, or The Beautiful People during Longview. And it reminds me of how they used to play something like Paper Lanterns and stretch it out with a load of tomfoolery. So it's all part of old-school Green Day tradition anyway. I love all the little traditions they have to go along with the music - long may they continue!
