British Idiot Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 My Mum and Dad think it's "too loud" - they clearly don't really get that the TV has a volume control! They're entirely uninterested. (They are in their 60s)I've never managed to get them to watch it..........and I'm in the f**king thing!!! The neglect........
Bikini_kill Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Oh, my mom really really thinks Green Days' great, so she loved Bullet it a Bible, but I made very sure I didn't show her the Hitchin a Ride part, I watched it with both my parents. My dad doesn't like them as much as her, but he was totally into the between the songs bit, coz he's a psychologist and tries to be all very moral etc etc, so he approved and nodded his head and went all serious when Billie was talking about how sometimes people use touring to get away from their problems, and when he was knocking on that bomb. And then, when he heard Nimrod and I asked him straight out what he thought of Green Day, he said they were tame compared to what he likes! So that's cool, I'd much rather have parents who like my music than ones who hate it or think its disgusting...
Hermione Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Mutti saw a bit, when I was watching Bullet in a Bible for the first time. In fact she was following the obvious sounds and after she spot Billie Joe, she stood in the middle of room with hands on her hips. She remained silent with raised brows during the whole scene, but after the end she turned to me and she was like "Well, now I know what YOU see in him" Since then, she insists on referring to Billie Joe as "this moron" or "the short man", though. At least until she learned he is friends with Bono. That made me lol . My mum always insists on referring to Billie Joe as "Wee Willie Billie"
ScreamsInSilence815 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I watched it with my Mom, because she wanted to see it [yes, I got my mom into Green Day] and I kind of giggled a little during the part, trying to act like it wasnt happening. I would suggest just coming out with "that's Billie Joe for you!" or something lol. xD
Tiffx Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 My parents don't like Green Day so the last thing I would do is make them sit down and watch a Green Day DVD. Plus it's far too explicit for their liking. When I have kids I'm definitely going to introduce them to Green Day.
popcorn_disaster Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 They haven't seen it yet, but I think my mum overheard it, and she gave me really queer looks when Hitchin' a Ride came on and she heard it. It was kinda funny - and I laughed.
St_Jimmbo_88 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Hahahaa.... when I first bought it, my dad isisted on watching it, but he entirely forgot about it's existence. They have coem home to see me watching some parts of it... and my mom thinks Tre is very...eccentric... And my dad says that Billie is very uhm "energenic" and Mike doesn't do much... LOL. If they saw Hitchin' A Ride or King Fir A Day, they'd probably just smack their lips and kepp their thoughts to themselves. My dad says that an entire album of Green Day is annoying. :/
ifmemoryserves Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Both my parents have seen BIAB and they both went to the concert with me.They both said that it was probably the best concert they've ever been to. And they've been to a crapload of concerts.Actually, when we were at the concert and Billie screamed "Somebody fuck me!", my mom said something like,"Well, I bet there are plenty of people who are willing here..." haha
Guest TwoDollarMellie Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 My parents reaction would be totally different. They'd probably say something like, "We paid 40 dollars each just to see a girly man masturbate on stage?!?YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO ANY MORE CONCERTS FOREVER!!!"
Bikini_kill Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 SCORE!! green day are mom magnets! Hahaha
Ally Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Actually, when we were at the concert and Billie screamed "Somebody fuck me!", my mom said something like,"Well, I bet there are plenty of people who are willing here..." hahaMy mum says the exact same thing everytime the dvd comes on, then she usually turns and says "i wouldn't mind myself" talk about embarrassment!
badwolf Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 my parents like it but when Hitchin' A Ride is on, my Dad out burst laughing when Billie shoves his hands down his pants and starts going"uhh huh f*** me!!" to me that part is gross but histerical how he is like that in front of his fanz!! My mum says the exact same thing everytime the dvd comes on, then she usually turns and says "i wouldn't mind myself" talk about embarrassment! that is embarrissing but funny i mean its true most fanz wouldnt mind doing that to Billie
jake smith Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 if they ever saw it they'd probably say too much swearing or some shit like that
wtsrname Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I'm never watching it with my mom. I tried to see them performing American Idiot at some award show once when she sat next to me. First she started a really loud conversation with my dad over my head. When I asked them if they could be quiet for just 3 minutes so I could watch the one performance I had been waiting for she started commenting on how it looked like they had ran into a wall or something and laughing at her own jokes. And instead of taking a hint when I turned up the volume she started asking me if I was deaf. I was so mad at her. Never fucking ever again am I watching anything involving Green Day with my mom. Or anything at all actually. She do it all the time I'm trying to watch something. If I'm lucky she's quiet for 2 minutes after I'm telling her I'm trying to watch something. My dad is actually kind of fan of GD, but he always fall asleep when he sit down in anything else than a kithcen-chair. So he would cathc the first 2 minutes.
RubbishGator101 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 yeah they were really turned off by the name.so, i told them that they were a christian punk band and that the name was a symbolic analogy about how religion can save lives. lmao

Alina_182 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 i think my mother likes bullet in a bible.but she has never seen hitchin' a ride xD
Micky Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Oh well, my mum likes only BOBDSo she has never seen BIAB, but if she will ever do ... she'd disapprove But honestly, I don't care
Esmeralda Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 nothing, they don't really care, i'm older enough, they know i'm not a saint, i'm a teenager..
espressofreak Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 my dad watches it, he likes WMUWSE, he asks me to play it all the fucking time, it's kinda funny actually. they've seen bits of it that i've watched. i think they said something about too much swearing, but i don't give shit. i think it's awesome. so there. they liked it less a few years ago when i first got it. that might be because i was like 14 but now they're okay with it, i guess. hah
VirginiaFLA Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 At the Hitchin a Ride part they just kinda looked at me and said, "So this is your band huh?"Awkwaaarrrddd!
