SynthwaveTrooper Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 You've only listened to it once?lol, when it first came out all i could do is listen to it, then i just started to not like it cause it wasnt the green day i knew.
Starbug Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Exactly the same for me as well. I don't have an least favorite album. Even though I have a favorite. Nimrod. But I just think I like thier kind of middle sound they had with Nimrod and all of that. I just go back and forth. Plus I don't hear 1039's songs all that much anymore. At the Library remains one of my favorite GD album openers, though. It's got a good energy about it, good kick off song
giantbbtstraw789 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 you should've added shenanigans...I dind't like it at all, even though Suffocate has been with me for a long time.I'm probably one of the very few ppl who actuall liked AI.
Spark of Insanity Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 At the Library remains one of my favorite GD album openers, though. It's got a good energy about it, good kick off song Same here, it is kind of epic. I just think with me if I just go and listen to it a bit more. I would like it more. But I always feel the need to listen to Insomiac and Nimrod a lot of the time. But at the library was one of the first songs that I ever heard of Green Day from thier older albums once I really got into them. It is a great song. you should've added shenanigans...I dind't like it at all, even though Suffocate has been with me for a long time.I'm probably one of the very few ppl who actuall liked AI. I like AI, it isn't my favorite but I like it.I liked "You lied" on Shenanigans. Will always be one of my favorites. And was one I actually coverted both of my sisters to liking at least one Green Day song.
Starbug Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 you should've added shenanigans...I dind't like it at all, even though Suffocate has been with me for a long time.I'm probably one of the very few ppl who actuall liked AI. I Shenanigans, but I guess it wasn't included because technically it wasn't a studio effort...I love AI, it's my 2nd favorite GD album. Dookie being my favorite...this is the order, hell...1-Dookie2-AI3-Nimrod4-Insomniac5-Kerplunk6-Warning7-1039SOSHSometimes the last 3 or 4 change order lol If we're counting Shenanigans, it wouldn't be in the top 5.
Break of Day Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I LOVE 1,039, its kinda like my new favourite, I listen to it all the time. My all time faves are American Idiot, which I still listen to on occasion, and dookie, which I can't stand now, except Welcome to Paradise, weird phase I'm in.I HATE WARNING!!!! It doesn't fit in well with the other albums songs weren't very skillfully written (compared too any other Green Day album). Minority is overrated and annoying why do peoploe absolutely LOVE that song? My fave songs off it are Macy's Day Parade, Castaway and Warning, but they still don't fit in well with the other Green Day stuff. I love nimrod though!! A complete different kid of experimentation, as opposed to Warning, much better. http://www.geocities.com/gdaysucks/GreenDay2.jpg I found that on a Green Day hate site...At first, I was happy that you love their best album. But you hate one of their best albums, warning!Castaway is amazing, the riff and the solo, and everything, kick ass.Hold on is freaking great, with the sweet harmonica riff. Honestly warning is full of talent. Minority might as well be their theme song and live it's out of sight.I used to like warning a lot more. I grew out of the majority of the songs but there are still ones that are awesome. Warning, blood sex and booze, fashion victim, and misery got old for me. The rest are classic!Everyone votes for their best albums! American Idiot is easily their worst, imo...there's too many "okay" songs, a couple "bad" songs, and only a few "good" songs. 1039 is where it's at. It's their most talented album ever. lyrically. musically. everything. the guitar solos, the basslines, the lyrics, the melodies, the song writing / structure. It's all amazing. No other album in the world compares to it.
Rob Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Misery was by far the best song they ever did in my eyes. And Warning was just the best album they've did. It honestly boogles my mind that more people weren't blown away by it upon it's release. In my eyes that album deserved the attention American Idiot got. Anyways, I think what a lot of people think about American Idiot was the horrific image it set for the band. The whole teenybopper phase. The guyliner, the red tie, that lame belt Armstrong always wears. But all in all musically, it was probably their second best effort next to Warning. That's why the whole misconception pisses me off. Most people who criticize that album, more or less criticize it because of the bands image at the time. Not the music. Which was not by any means bad, just a little too overplayed during that era. Hell, a lot of people I know who criticize it have never even heard the whole album in full.Anyways, my least favorite is Nimrod. It just simply didn't move me like the other albums did.

It just simply didn't move me like the other albums did.I love Warning. I definitely don't 'hate' any of their albums...AI was, musically, brilliant. And lyrically. Warning was, too, I see now as I've gotten older. I didn't so much like it when it came out, but it has grown on me. And with distance, I can see that it's a brilliant, brilliant album. Misery is an excellent song, and most all of my friends got hooked on Green Day because of that very song. They used different instrumentation and just delved deeper for Warning, and for it to have not done well commercially has, since, boggled my mind. I think BJ said something along the lines of MTV not airing the video like he thought they should (Waiting) and I agree w/ him. At the time, MTV had a bit more weight than it does now. Now, it's a joke.
Hizz10n Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy HoursI like it...i just never gave it a chance, i never really listened to it..so...they are all different, and special...and i love them all. That's just the one i could lve without...
Ayame Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I'd have to say....Kerplunk.Just not my favourite. But not like I dislike it, just that I'd rather the other albums better than this one.Although, I really like Christie Road, One for the Razorbacks and Words I Might Have Ate
Hermione Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 ^They are all one of my faves , hence why the thread is evil. But I'm glad to see still no one has been insane enough to think Nimrod is the worst, that would just be crazy.
Nova-Caine Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Where is the option for don't have a least fave?Sorry I just don't.Warning and Nimrod constantly fight for my top stop tho
SpiKeYMiKeY Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I voted for Warning.. even though it's a great album, it still feels too mellow for GD.
thisisAB Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 At first, I was happy that you love their best album. But you hate one of their best albums, warning!Castaway is amazing, the riff and the solo, and everything, kick ass.Hold on is freaking great, with the sweet harmonica riff. It's their most talented album ever. lyrically. musically. everything. the guitar solos, the basslines, the lyrics, the melodies, the song writing / structure. It's all amazing. No other album in the world compares to it.Yes, Castaway is an awesome song, both musically and lyrically. I don't own the album, as I don't feel the need to purchase it, but I'll listen to Hold On. IMO Misery sucks. Blood Sex and Booze is catchy, but its very simple musically, and it's kinda stupid. I used to love Minority, but it got old after playing it almost every day, and now I don't even remember what I liked about (except the bass line, kick ass) it's not THAT good, although Green Day would disagree. Warning (song) is still good for me. American Idiot rocks. I used to hate it for a while during my obsession with dookie, but the songs are all good, with the exception of Extraordinary Girl. And yes 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a masterpiece! Every song on it has a deep meaning, and every single song off it (including the beautiful Rest) has awesome muic to it.I'm really hoping the new album doesnt sound like Warning, it was obviosly a step down from the other albums, even Rob Cavallo didn't produce it.
Hermione Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 ^I don't think there's any possible way it could be like Warning. Apparantly "Cigarettes and Valentines" was like some kind of watered-down version of Warning-type songs, and they chucked that right in the bin! It's not like them to go backwards and rehash old albums anyway, that's not their style. It'll be new and fresh I love Warning though
Guest -aNNa- Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Definitely, none of them above..I think,"Shenanigans" can be ..but it's not there
Hermione Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Shenanigans doesn't count. The others are carefully put together albums, crafted from start to finish. Shenanigans is a load of random, unconnected, leftover songs, recorded over several years, stuck together. You can't compare them
BringMoreKnives Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 its almost impossible to pick one!!!!! but i think my least favorite is insomniac.
Ila Reto Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 eh, dont kill me but i'd probably go with dookie or insomniac. actually, more like Kerplunk.no wait...no i cant do this. Shenanigans doesn't count. The others are carefully put together albums, crafted from start to finish. Shenanigans is a load of random, unconnected, leftover songs, recorded over several years, stuck together. You can't compare them but since it's my favorite, it can count as an album only for being the best, not the worst lol.
Agija Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I don't have a least favorite album. However, I voted Warning. In my opinion, it's not as good as the others.
Joy of suburbia. Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 :o SOMEONE voted for Nimrodoh snap! nimrod is one of the great ones.i got my friend to listen to green day because of this cd.
Kimpsu Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I voted for Warning, although I love it. I love them all,but Warning's still the one I listen the least.Dookie.Hate it. Are we listening different dookies ?
