Spark of Insanity Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Damn. Green Day, did you want to get people talking? GOOD JOB! Why is this worth arguing over so heartily? My opinion of it is this, for what it's worth (which is nothing):They have the right to say who they support, just like I do. Yes, I think they have a certain level of 'responsibility' toward their younger fans, but not one that includes keeping quiet about something they believe in. It's not like they're out there sacrificing pigs and biting the heads off of bats. They simply stated they support Obama, ONE SENTENCE in a WHOLE PARAGRAPH of telling people to vote. They have the right just like you and I do, and they're exercising it. I respect them for it, to a point, because a lot of bands are afraid to speak up or just don't care. And I certainly don't see how it makes them hypocritical. What is the big fucking deal? DAMN! lolsilly Ha! You're exactly right about htat. Anyone can say who they wan't to support. I respect bands greatly who put out their political affiliation out and aren't afraid to talk about politics and social issues.
brekka Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 yeah..umm..how about not..i totally agree with the thing with using your vote.but i dont agree with the fact that baraak obama should be elected.why would you want a president that wont even wear his u.s. badge?screwww that.every thought that obama?..might rhyme with osama?..BINLADIN..yeah.opinionated.but you have to agree.there's a connection.it's scary.just voicing my opinion.nothing big.
rootbeersoup Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 yeah..umm..how about not..i totally agree with the thing with using your vote.but i dont agree with the fact that baraak obama should be elected.why would you want a president that wont even wear his u.s. badge?screwww that.every thought that obama?..might rhyme with osama?..BINLADIN..yeah.opinionated.but you have to agree.there's a connection.it's scary.just voicing my opinion.nothing big.Don't worry, we all have those same thoughts. I will just agree with you on everyone's behalf! You are a very rational person

You sound like everyone at my school on that. And I now so wan't this election to freaking end now then. GAH.Btw someone's name ryming means nothing. Do you think his ideology would be based upon his name for instance. He wasn't born and then got to choose whose name would it ryme with. He, nor his parent's knew who Osama was back then. So that is not a valid arguement. It has no basis on what "he believes" and he has no real connection with that.EDIT: Sorry if I sound obtruse, or bitchy. Just wanted to clarify.
Hermione Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 yeah..umm..how about not..i totally agree with the thing with using your vote.but i dont agree with the fact that baraak obama should be elected.why would you want a president that wont even wear his u.s. badge?screwww that.every thought that obama?..might rhyme with osama?..BINLADIN..yeah.opinionated.but you have to agree.there's a connection.it's scary.just voicing my opinion.nothing big.So your opinion is that if something rhymes with something bad, it therefore must also be bad? Are you serious? Is everyone who has the same name connected to each other? Is everyone in the world called Hermione exactly the same as me, and connected to me?

Honestly, educate yourself (at least a little bit).
Spark of Insanity Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 So your opinion is that if something rhymes with something bad, it therefore must also be bad? Are you serious? Is everyone who has the same name connected to each other? Is everyone in the world called Hermione exactly the same as me, and connected to me?Exactly. Arg! I hate always having to say something about the Osama, Obama thing all the time. I swear one time at school I am going to blow a gasket on it. I have been doing it for what a year now. There is no way to correlate someones name with their beliefs and values. That is it!Is everyone named Michelle like Michelle Obama, Michelle Williams and such. No! Everyone is different.
farley drexel hatcher Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 lol I wasn't angry at youLOLOLYou guys are definitely stretching a bit here trying to defend them. Saying you support someone IS a way to campaign for them. What, do they say they support Obama for funsies? There's nothing wrong with what they did, just don't make it seem as if they wouldn't want people voting for ObamaI'm not trying to defend anyone. I don't think they did anything to need it!
Trotsky Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 yeah..umm..how about not..i totally agree with the thing with using your vote.but i dont agree with the fact that baraak obama should be elected.why would you want a president that wont even wear his u.s. badge?screwww that.every thought that obama?..might rhyme with osama?..BINLADIN..yeah.opinionated.but you have to agree.there's a connection.it's scary.just voicing my opinion.nothing big.Wow. I really see great futility in responding to such stupidity. I really can't even do it. Please, never, ever, ever, vote.Honestly, educate yourself (at least a little bit). Some people are pretty hopeless, beyond what education can do. The most you can do for them is tell them to shut up and sit down.

Starbug Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 i don't agree this electioneering...yes, green day can express they opinion there is nothing wrong in this, but according to me, they can't encourage their fans to vote a person who they support giving as a motivation: he can change the world. It's not correct, even if I'm a big big fan of green day, they can't "manipulate the minds" of they fansHow are they trying to manipulate anyone w/ one sentence??? WOW lol one teensy wittle sentence...Don't worry, we all have those same thoughts. I will just agree with you on everyone's behalf! You are a very rational person  ...this thread's been fun
WorkingClassHero* Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Green Day saying who they like may make a couple of kids wat to vote for that candidate, but we are talking about free-thinking adults here. If by voting age the person votes based upon their favourite band they have some serious problems.Although i would add. Id rather here someone say im voting Obama because Green day said so. Rather than im voting McCain because Obama sounds like Osama.
Spark of Insanity Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Although i would add. Id rather here someone say im voting Obama because Green day said so. Rather than im voting McCain because Obama sounds like Osama.Same, just wish most of the people I know who throw that Osama thing out there or the "Obama is going to rage an army against us and they will try to make the white people his slave" I freaking hate that response. I so rather have the Green Day influenced me any day. Other than any sort of ignorancy about a person.
Trotsky Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I'm fucking sick of this election, so goddamn fucking sick of it. SO MANY STUPID PEOPLE! It's depressing. Fucking neo-nazis, Joe the Plumber obsession, flag pins and religion and Bill Ayers being the center of the opposition of Obama, SARAH PALIN STANDING IN HER FUCKING CULT GETTING A BLESSING AGAINST WITCHCRAFT!, the 'Obama will pay my mortgage' lady, Obama youth march, and this fucking moron who just posted! Ahhh!
Spark of Insanity Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I think we all are. That is why I am so happy it is almost Tuesday. I cannot take it anymore and defending Obama from the racist, ignorant people who think he is Osama, and the "Obama cause he'll bomb ya" and the jokes and shit about him raising an army against everyone. I am sick of it all and having to say it over and over again to the same people. And they all go to me for a debate on that stupid stuff and I constantly have to repeate myself. I even though about quiting the defence on it because it does no good with them. That is why I am so happy that it is about to end.
Starbug Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Oh, I'm about ready to vomit I'm so sick of it I feel attacked. There are people around here who have lost windows and one lady almost got ran off the road. You know why? For supporting Obama.Yeah.It's gone there. And I'll be glad to see the tail end of it over with, though I'm afraid once he's elected (and he will be) things will lighten up for a while, but only get worse. Because of ignorance, and nothing but. Ignorance.

If American history is anything to go by, it looks like he may need something of a bullet proof 'pope mobile'.

Because of ignorance, and nothing but. Ignorance.Wow, it came to that. I have only seen here if someone follows Obama they get heavily ridiculed. I have had people pick fights with me trying to prove what I am saying about him and why I support him to be faulty. And trying to sway people's votes on the election. I am sick of it. I want it to end so bad. That is why I am so glad I don't have to go to school until Wed. then I will hear the end of it finally. I am glad that it hasn't gotten that bad here at least from my observation. But I feel a lot of people are oppressed to vote McCain because the supporters are a majority and if you don't vote McCain then you are a baby killer and such. I feel a lot of people who may vote otherwise are being told to vote McCain at least from my observation. I had people tell me they are glad I cannot vote and one person told me I should fuck off and die. So I will be fucking happy when this freaking election ends.I think its a tragedy to say. Im unsure if he would survive his presidency. If American history is anything to go by, it looks like he may need something of a bullet proof 'pope mobile'.Sad to say but a lot of people here think that. It's how bad our society is supposed to be so progressed but there is still many racist people and ignorant people that don't accept everyone just because they are different. It is sad to see.
WorkingClassHero* Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 If i was to partake in frivolous voting, it would not be because Green Day told me. I would vote for McCain in the hope of getting into Palins bed. She is the ultimate in milf. I wouldn't let her run my country but she could do so much more.

Tripe Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 ^^ That gave me a good laugh. This came via email to me this evening. Probably came to all the Idiot Club members, at least those with US addresses. Forgive me if it's posted elsewhere, I'm just flying through this evening...A Message From Green Day about this TuesdayThis Tuesday we will elect the next President of the United States. The result will have great consequences for the nation. This election offers a choice is between two men with dramatically different visions of the future. We have strong feelings about this choice. But we feel even more strongly that all Americans, regardless of political preference, have a stake in the outcome and should vote in this critical election. This is likely to be a close election. Your vote matters. Please use it and make a difference. There's a message I hope everyone can agree with.
