GreenRanger Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 So my dad is downstairs on the drums...he's playing Give Me Novacaine, yet listening to St Jimmy? What?
Gwen Stacy Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 This might be a bit of a long story, but bear with me. I was out running errands for my step-mom and when I was done I was driving back home (listening to Green Day of course). I had my GPS on because I didn't know exactly where I was. A closed road sent me out into my old neighborhood. My dad and I lived around here back in the late 90's for several years and this is where I grew up. So I decided to just drive around for nostaliga's sake. I was thinking about visiting one of my old friends who lives there as J.A.R. comes on. I was driving there and I stopped by the old elementary school we both went to and where I first met him. It was recently shut down due to budget cuts (the only one of the at risk schools in the district to do so) and so as I stop there to look around Rest comes on. Both songs fit my moods perfectly right then and created a poignant experience
grlcalledkill Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I've got Green Day full spin on the iPhone, but lately I've been skipping the AI/21CB and delving into 39/Smooth, Kerplunk! and Shenanigans. The unabashed energy gets me so excited and amped up right now. Heard One of My Lies on the way home and kept turning it up.
fiercecircus Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 How have i not commented on this before? Uh, i listen to green day whenever! I've listened to them in surgery! (when i used to work the surgery room at an animal hospital.) Also, at the same animal hospital, we had a copy of Dookie hanging on the wall that was only to be played when giving something an enema (rather ceremoniously i must say. We were an odd bunch. What better way to make light of a "shitty" situation?) I listen to them when i'm at the studio a lot, especially when i really need to get amped or psyched up for something. I usually listen to them before my gigs (used to be "know your enemy" in honor of this bitch aerialist who told me i wasn't good enough and shouldn't be performing ... now i listen to "it's fuck time" b/c appropriately enough, that's what they used to say before they went onstage on broadway.) And last night on the train home from the EA show in NY, i read the liner notes to TTALL, and something from dookie came on, and i kind of teared up. Music is awesome.
pucky Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I just watched the Awesome as Fuck DVD, trying to prepare myself for the new albums or something like that.
