Cris. Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Misery. Letterbomb Peacemaker (!!!!!!!!!!!) Homecoming. And I think the Homecoming thing is really most unfair too. JoS got all this attention for being a 9-minutes-long rock song, with 5 movements and all, and yet you so rarely read something saying, "and there's Homecoming too". And I think Homecoming is just as great a song as JoS is.
Carrot Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 tightwad hill. only played once since 95, and it was played 18 years later in 2009. but they only played half of it. it would be such a great song live, that's the only thing i wanna tell the band. and probably every song on 1000 hours except only of you... church on sunday is pretty underrated too. same with poprocks and coke
Certified Nimrod Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Take Back and most other songs on Nimrod
Slave To The Network Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Stuart and the Ave. and Bab's Unvula Who? seem to be pretty unspoken of when it comes to Insomniac. I really like those songs!
TmastaTay Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I loooovvee the way you italicize the albums and quote the songs. It makes your posts look really neat They don't play Letterbomb often? Really? Because they've only been playing it at just about every show since 2010. No need to get mad or sassy and shit. I realize they have been playing that song for awhile but if you look at the album there were much bigger hits, for example; American Idiot, Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends. Yes, they have been playing Letterbomb for awhile but when people think of American Idiot I can guarantee you that Letterbomb isn't one most have heard.
Insomniac45 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Uptight, Worry Rock, Stuart and the Ave., Sassafras Roots, Pulling Teeth, Walking Alone, Macy's Day Parade, No One Knows, Dry Ice, Words I Might of Ate and so forth. They need to play these songs live.
frankoz Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 There are too many, but the first one that comes to mind is Letterbomb... i once read or heard billie Joe claiming this to be his and their favorite song off american idiot. and you know why? it's fun to play! i love it too. most interestingly, when i first heard american idiot in a very crappy quality, i wasn' even fully aware it was a concept album, letterbomb shredded it's way into my ears and heart, and i didn't even know, but for me it was the best song plainly.even though, as said, i didn't judge it on purpose back then. oops, way too old posting. but.. i like letterbomb lol. "i like all the songs and all the songs like me." *singing* tightwad hill. only played once since 95, and it was played 18 years later in 2009. but they only played half of it. it would be such a great song live, that's the only thing i wanna tell the band. and probably every song on 1000 hours except only of you... church on sunday is pretty underrated too. same with poprocks and coke don't know, whether you do know, but insomniac was thought about to be called tightwad hill, i think. No need to get mad or sassy and shit. I realize they have been playing that song for awhile but if you look at the album there were much bigger hits, for example; American Idiot, Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends. Yes, they have been playing Letterbomb for awhile but when people think of American Idiot I can guarantee you that Letterbomb isn't one most have heard. letterbomb is like the "breakdown" of the character's newly built up world. you can even hear that. being a turning point, i'd say, it could be utterly important on the album. and for me it was like green day being new, yet remaining green day musically, with a new, more complex sound to this.
stich Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'd dream that they'll play Walking Alone and Hold On (with harmonica like the album version) one day
Jesus Of Suburbia 2396 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I don't know what I'd consider the MOST underrated but there are a handful of songs I definitely think are underrated: - Uptight - Pulling Teeth - Prosthetic Head - Worry Rock - All The Time - J.A.R. - Scattered - Church On Sunday - Whatsername - See The Light They all are really good songs I think but they weren't as appreciated as they should have been (by the general public lol). Personally, nimrod. is probably second to only Dookie in the era before AI I think (if you can't tell from all the songs I mentioned from nimrod lol).
J of Suburbia Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Restless Heart Syndrome and Hold On for songs Insomniac and 21st Century Breakdown for albums
Carrot Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 don't know, whether you do know, but insomniac was thought about to be called tightwad hill, i think. yeah i acknowledge that: http://winstonsmith.com/2007/05/rock-pop-gallery-cover-story-features-green-days-insomniac-by-winston-smith/ insomniac was going to be called Jesus Christ Supermarket (Spoof of JC Superstar). one of billie's regrets.
SEAtacticsFTW Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Having a Blast, Warning (Even thought its another song), Walking Contradiction, Are We The Waiting, Scattered, Westbound Sign, Waiting, Ha Ha Your Dead, and 80
GZUSofSuburbia Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I think the entire Insomniac album, save for Brain Stew/Jaded and maybe Geek Stink Breath is very underrated.
DrunkOnApathy Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 To me, there is no better album then Insomniac. It's so raw, and angry, I think it's where Green Day truly shined. I would do anything if they would make another album like that, just pure punk with horns, but I know they never will. I appreciate and love how they are changing, but to me there is nothing like their good old, fast, hard songs. I think, on that album, there is one particular jem, which is Panic Song. I feel it always skipped because among fans, because of the long, and sort of dragged on intro, but when it ges to the actual song it's amazing. If I'm not mistaken, Mike wrote it, and it seems that my favorite lyrics from Green Day songs are often written (or helped) by Mike, such as J.A.R. (Hopefully I'm not mistaken again). But yeah, if I were any of you who doesn't frequently listen to Insomniac, I'd suggest giving it a full run through sometime soon.
Insomniac85 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? And Church On Sunday. And For an album I would say Warning.
Flyingdonutz Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Walking Contradiction is unarguably their most underrated song. Can't believe it wasn't a massive hit.
iScottie Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Jackass Judge's Daughter No Pride Poprocks And Coke Reject
