jadedghiacand Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 IC is a complete rip off - I was so unbelievably disapointed with it. thats why i didnt do it for a second year
CarnageXB Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I wanna cancel the recurring payment of $20 but I dont know how to. Can someone lead me to a page which I could do that?
netty Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 go to the page where the moblog access is, the news should be listed down the right hand side and above that you will see a button with "my account" on it. hit that and then hit the "active subscriptions" button and you`ll see a big red "cacell subscriptions" button. and the idiot club has never charged $20 a month. thats a load of bull spread by people who cant read the basic info about the club. its been $20 a year from when it started (in this guise) in September 2005.
Viva La Junkpile Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I was an idiot club member in '06 I believe @@ time mushes together a bit ^^". It was pretty amusing to me, but you really do have to join when something is actually going on with the band.

Parley Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I wanna cancel the recurring payment of $20 but I dont know how to. Can someone lead me to a page which I could do that?Go to the Idiot Club page and click on "Renewal Information"--right under "What's New."They added that link shortly after the big thread we had here last year complaining about the Club and how they automatically renew without advance notice. Maybe Netty got them to do it. That thread: http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...hl=greenday.com
mbk Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 ^It didn't automatically renew my membership. At first I got an email saying it would unless I canceled, but when I didn't do anything in response, it automatically canceled.

I'm sure this was part of the small print when you signed up, but it wasn't stated strongly. They've since made the whole issue more out-in-the-open.

I never said $20 a month. I know its at $20 a year. I just dont feel like paying for something and I get nothing out of it.
Tripe Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I agree that paying to be a member right now while nothing is happening is probably not worth it. The same FBHT information was posted over here shortly after it was posted there, and most of the other recently occurring interesting news has been on myspace, greenday.net, etc as well. For all its faults, I am very fond of the Idiot Club. I've definitely gotten my money's worth - won a couple of contests and stuff, so I probably have had a better experience with it than many. The real value for me, though, has been in the friendships I've made over there on the forum. Good people, most of them. We've managed to get together a few times and it's been great to be with people who know what the hell I'm talking about when I go off on a Green Day tangent. Some of you guys probably have established the same kinds of groups over here. That kind of thing is worth any amount of money to me.One thing about that $20 fee that is a good thing - it keeps out the riffraff who just want to say shitty provoking things about the band. Even the worst troll won't pay $20 to make a pest of themselves. Since the AI furor has died down in the last years, the teenie contingent has pretty much disappeared as well. It's much smaller over there than this forum, fewer topics and less posting activity. Although I will say that stupid/useless threads die a quick death over there, no one bothers to respond to them.Like everyone else, I think joining the IC when (if?) the revamp happens and the new album release is announced would probably be a better idea than joining now. I think I read on the forum there that new subscriptions were not going through right now anyway, not sure if that has changed.
elisa Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I was a member but I never posted in that forum. I think I will join again when the new album comes out.

randomness Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 there's no point paying to use something on the internet.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I was a member of the Idiot Club for a year. My membership expired and I let it. I wasn't fond of how few exclusives we got, and how they weren't very consistant with the Q&A. I'll probably join again once they get going with a new album and/or start updating the Q&A again, though. As for the whole 'pre-sale' thing... I remember when I got tickets to the first Green Day show I went to in 05. They had the pre-sale info listed on GDA and I was able to buy pre-sale tickets that way. I'd never have gotten tickets if it weren't for that. They sold out so quickly the day the actual sale happened...
Laura33 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Astounding contribution ^The Idiot Club for all it's faults is full of great people, a few of which are on here. Also the individual band member Q&A's are brilliant. But meh, as far as exclusives go, it isn't worth paying for.
Instant Mash Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Astounding contribution ^I don't feel I need to say anything else. Problem?
Guest laurarols Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 personally i rather spend those 20 dollars on clothes
The Daughter of Rage and Love Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I was member for one year , not worth the money at all! The Q&A's were nice, but were hardly updated. You could probably find those videos somewhere on YouTube for FREE.
Ila Reto Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 ^ yep, there's part of the Q&A on youtube. but it only answers 1 and a half questions.
mbk Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 yeah, me to start with Definitely not you. There's a bit of a snobby vibe tho, some people you can't disagree with because they have a bee in their bonnet and are too superior.... sigh. Only so much a mod can do to defuse that.
Guest give me novacaine-jos Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 ^^i have never joined but i think i'd like to...but everybody here believes that it doesn't worth it...
