yeah it was definitely pretty great of them to organise that, but in saying that i feel it couldve been organised better, what with several people getting into a couple of soundchecks and a lot people getting into none :/ That was disappointing to see some names on like 2 or 3 lists and then people who really wanted to go didnt even get a look in.

But im glad i joined the idiot club overall, i know i dont post on the forum much but it feels nice to have a membership. When i first joined a good few months ago i was so excited to have joined it because i remember when i was in school and i really didnt have any money and i was on the internet in school (we didnt have a computer at the time) and i seen the idiot club and i was just dying to be a member, but it wouldve been pointless to join and not be able to use it

What killed me was the number of people who got into the Dublin soundcheck who weren't even on the list. Terrible organisation on the O2's part.

Yeah, I remember back at the very end of 05, could have been early 06 actually, now that I think of it. I was looking at it going "WOW!! I need to be a part of this exclusivity! Mum, won't you please fuel my obsession??"

I think it's worth it for the presales but that's really only it. I think gdc is much better than the idiot club's forum, but for the presales it was definetly worth it. I don't know if i would have been able to get general admission otherwise.

dude ok so i remember back when american idiot came out idiot club was really cool. they had all these funny videos id never seen before and lots of stuff. but now it doesnt even update itself that much. i guess itd be good for presale tickets and stuff, but its not that great. plus i went to the community chat thing there and people are mean

if you are having problems with members of any forum, take it to the mod team on that forum. we cant deal with that kind of thing if we arent told about it. :wink:

I was a member back when AI came out and I think for a year or 2 after.. but once I ended the automatic renewal option, My account was lost.

I did end up winning tickets to see GD when they played SF back in 05 but I had already bought them LOL.

I'd say it is kind of worth it, well it was back then - I do not know what all has changed and whatnot.

Worst case.. Join for a year and if you do not like it, cancel.

Back around 2002 I *thought* I joined the Idiot Club. I sent a fan letter to the address on I think either the Dookie or Nimrod album (it's the same address on both). A little bit later I got a packet to join the Idiot Club. It was $20 and I got a white t-shirt that has Green Day (Kerplunk logo style) on the front left breast, and in big black letters IDIOT across the back. I also got an Idiot name tag patch, like for a work shirt or jumpsuit or something. Also some temporary tattoos, and a membership card. The card was like a funny thing that said something like I _____ am a certified Idiot!...blah blah blah. It was a paper card that either finally fell apart or I lost. Also, I was supposed to get regular newsletters about upcoming tour dates and stuff. I never got one. So, once American Idiot came out, the Idiot Club was completely different, and I guess I was never an official member, although I did send them $20 and got that stuff two years before.

Who knows, once I start working and earning a paycheck in Feb, I may join the Idiot Club site... not sure. I think the main thing that would make me want to join is the ticket pre-sales.

I am actually thinking of re-joining this year, the competitions are pretty good, and while some of the people can be dicks, I figure that I will just avoid the forums and the chat. As for the $20 per year, AFI's Despair Faction is better.

The competitions are mostly fine if you live in the USA. The poor old rest of the world does miss out.

The presales were great - but again, not for all (Australian gigs weren't included) but the admin (not the mods!) are pretty useless. They don't even answer e-mails from their own moderators!

That seems really unfair for an international fan club, and that was pretty much the reason that I didn't renew in the first place.

I joined just incase of an Idiot Club presale tickets for Australia, but it turned out Frontier did it instead. I wouldn't say it was a waste but I didn't bother renewing my membership.

I joined the Idiot Club last year and I won four tickets to the two special pre- 21st Century Breakdown preview shows in Germany. I also won Soundcheck tickets for the concert in Berlin last year. Pretty much for 20$.

I joined the Idiot Club about 3 years ago. I've been around for 2 years. It wasn't worth the money.

I enjoyed the forum but that was it.

I do think its worth it. I did have a problem where i paid again for my membership when i didnt need to and they didnt give me my money back but they did send me an Idiot Club shirt.

My subscription just ran out on the 19th...I'll wait until any more US tour dates are released until I join again, as the only use I got out of that club was the presales.

yes. the idiot club doesnt store members credit card details for security reasons so they dont do an automatic renewal. you should get a renewal notice email before the date but I do know a lot of people havent got one. just keep an eye on the date and renew when the time comes

doesn't it depend if you have your own account, i know when i was 16 it was up to me what i spent my money on, but i suppose its different for everyone.
