As a small child I just knew of "that one song" that went "sometimes I give myself the creeps." That was the line I remembered knowing. So like 1995 to 1999...I didn't have cable so music videos were not something I saw much of. When I Come Around was the first video I remember seeing....I think. I have NO idea when or where exactly I saw it though.
I wrote Holden Caulfield x Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 id heard good riddance a lot on the radio and always liked it but never bothered to find out who it was.but then when american idiot came out and i bought the album i fell in love and had to get every green day album there was. i was so surpridsed to find out that good riddance was by green day because it sounded a lot different from AI.Im not sure which video i saw first it was probably AI or Holiday or BOBD.

Nzap Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Quite tough to say, but I think I had heard Basket Case, When I Come Around, Minority and American Idiot before I knew what band it was.The first song that I knew was Green Day was also American Idiot, about 4 months after the first time I heard the song. I totally fell in love with it, and that's when it all started.

I remember kinda liking AI, but when they started playing BOBD, I fell in love and bought the album, fell in love even more and found out everything about them and went back and got all their old albums. Thank goodness for the radio.

We all had to sing "good riddance" and i recognised billie joe's voice from the old tape. then i became obsessed with green day

One of the best days ever, hearing that --- I was instantly a fan of whatever band had made such an amazing song.Said amazing song is now one of 'my' songs. I listen to it way, way too much.

I don't know, I recall having an early memory when I must have heard my brother playing it. I don't remember what my first video was, it was either Longview, Welcome to Paradise, or American Idiot.
