madie Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Thinking that they'll never come back as Green Day, really makes me feel sad.I honestly don't think Billie gives a shit if people criticise Green Day.So yeah the new album will come
Radioactive1 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I've only just found this thread but I remember last month my friend admitting to me she also believed the new album from Green Day won't come. I've never really thought about it not coming, I just always thought it would.Like someone mentioned earlier the gap so far still isn't as big as it was between Warning and American Idiot. Saying that though, Billie Joe does have a habit of mentioning things and bending them a little. I think maybe them or the record label should post an update somewhere briefly saying how they're doing and what they're upto. Otherwise people will just panic and worry that they're not coming back, when in fact there's probably no reason to do so.I think they'll come back as Green Day but if they don't and continue as FBHT I'd still be fairly happy. I love that type of music.
924Nimrod Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 billie mike and tre are all 36 years old...how long do ye think green day have left till the curtain comes down on their career? So? Mike Ness of Social Distortion is pushing 50. Tim Armstrong of Rancid is now in his early 40s. Both of those bands have been touring and have new albums coming out. Age doesn't matter. They keep doing it because they love it, no one is holding a gun to their head telling them to play. I'm sure Billie, Mike, and Tre are all the same. They've been doing this for so long, and they do seem to love it. I know I wouldn't want to stop that early.
gd_castaway08 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Totally and completely don't understand the thoughts of GD not coming back. I've been thinking that it's just like the Network thing. They did say that they had material for 3 different albums so I think they wanted to put more than one of those out there, therefore they became FBHT for one. They could become some other band, too, but they'll probably just use one of the other two as their GD record...I just think they'll take a break for Mike to spend time with his new kid and then come back as GD when they're ready.
14razorbacks Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Honestly, I don't think the new Green Day album will ever come out. And yes I know that they have been writing songs, (I hear they have 45 songs so far or something like that), but I think I've come to the conclusion of why they haven't come out with it yet. The way I see it is that Green Day (before American Idiot) didn't care too much about how well album sales and all that stuff after they released an album. Of course, (I know a lot of fans will disagree with me) American Idiot was definitely their best album made. The thing is, I think they are having trouble trying to make their new album better then American Idiot. So what they did was create a side project called the "Foxboro Hot tubs" as you all know, and they made songs that they really wanted to play. These are the same band members, but they switched their name so they wouldn't be criticized as much. They did this for fun, not for album sales and money.all very true.I think that they have been fed up with being so mainstream, and their record company is probably pissing them off a lot too. is this based on anything? why would reprise be pissing them off now, after fourteen years of being signed? rob cavallo is really good friends with them.I think that they are going to stick to this new band "Foxboro Hot tubs" because this is how they would want to make music anyway.you can think what you want, but i still don't get how you know that thats how they want to make music forever. why after fourteen years? So my question to you guys is, do you think that the Green Day album will ever come out? And what are your thoughts for the Foxboro hot tubs? If you didn't know it was the members of green day, would you still like them?1) yeah2) its good3) yeahand the network was green day. its like, the most ridiculously obvious thing ever. the only reason its not a 'fact' is because its funnier for them not to make it official.
eyes don't lie Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Ya but they've got young children too so they cant just keep on going into their 60'sYeah they can if they want to. As long as they want to keep going, we will keep buying the music.
M1KEY Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Ya but they've got young children too so they cant just keep on going into their 60'sWhat does having children have to do with it? They've all had children now for the past 10 years or more, and it certainly hasn't stopped them from doing anything. Hell, Billie left Adrienne and his kids for a month and went on a personal retreat in NYC, and the beginnings of American Idiot were born from it. Countless musicians have families, that's not a reason to stop doing what you love to do. Watch the opening of Bullet in a Bible and listen to what Billie says... "people ask, well, what would you do if you weren't in Green Day? Well, I'd be in Green Day, I don't know anything else."They're here to stay muthafuckas!!!
Rob Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Did Mike tell a fan on here that "Green Day could come back with a bang"...those kind of sarcastic remarks have always been how the GD boys answer questions. Remember their answer to the possible Foxboro tour? "Maybe...for sure!" Or something like that. They'll be back, and I think they'll keep going for a while. Look at all these bands who are older than them, have families, and still continue to bring out albums and do tours. Why would that stop Green Day? Honestly, I think one of them would have to either die, or stop loving what they're doing to retire. Otherwise, I just can't see the logic of them quitting soon.
Hermione Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 They're here to stay muthafuckas!!! You speak the truth! Couldn't have put it better myself.
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I can't remember which one of them said it, but one of the band did say that "No one is leaving Green Day; unless it's in a body bag" XDI don't get why people assume they're not going to be doing this for much longer. They seem like the kind of guys that wouldn't give up playing music for anything. I have a feeling they made FHT bigger than they originally intended for a reason; maybe they were planning on coming back with the new album this year, and for some reason it got held up, and so they decided to do this to fill the gap in between. That might actually make sense if its true about Mike's girlfriend being pregnant. Or maybe not; could have been planned all along. Who knows?
924Nimrod Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I think the reason that they decided to have FHT go on tour, is because I think during the Pinhead Gunpowder shows, Billie realized how much fun it is just playing these small clubs and getting in touch with the fans on a smaller scale. I think Mike and Tre saw it too and they decided to go for some live shows. Because Lord knows that there couldn't be a Green Day show at Toot's Tavern.
Isabel Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I'm getting kind of sick of just hanging around waiting for a new album. The Foxboro Hot Tubs fad isn't creating much of a decent diversion for me either. I've been much more into other bands lately and they're bringing out new albums far more frequently. I love Green Day to death, but I'm just not arsed waiting anymore.
Fuzz Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Well it's not like we really have any other choice but to wait. Though it is kinda disappointing seeing bands that released albums in 2005 and 2006 already coming out with new stuff.
Isabel Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Yeah, like Less Than Jake. They released Losing Streak in 1996, Hello Rockview in 1998 and Borders and Boundaries in 2000, Anthem in 2003, B is for B Sides in 2004, In With The Out Crowd in 2006 and GNV FLA last week Just to throw that in, like.

Jacie Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Wow. Long time since i've been here now.. Almost 2 years. I love Green Day so much, i really want a new album now. Its kinda boing to listen to the same songs all the time.Come on guys!
netty Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 they are working on the album. they need to finish it now. and thats not just y view or any other fans. its what they want to do. I think they are done with the distractions now. its just a case of getting it finalized and working out the rest of the crap that goes with it. deciding the name, when to release it and arguing dates with the record company. (if its not that close its getting there) then its down to fine details. album name. cover. what sort of publicity they want for it. what sort of tour they are willing to do/want to do. these guys arent finished yet. you can forget all the predictions. all the previous comments. they`ll finish when they cant do it any more. and that aint yet!
**nobodylikesyou** Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Yeah, but those other bands aren't as awesome as Green Day Exactly what I was gonna say H. they are working on the album. they need to finish it now. and thats not just y view or any other fans. its what they want to do. Yeah we want it and we want it now, but good things happen to those that wait.....right???*I would much rather have them take their time and release something they feel is their best work, rather than half assing it just to get something out.
karma1215 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I guess we'lll never know the real truth behind that story until their ready to tell it.
chrisloveslauren Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I still believe that the new Green Day album will be released this year and ever since the interview in which Billie said they were working on 3 new albums i've been obsessed by the idea and have got it into my head that we will see 3 Green Day albums this year. With one already released I can't help but think that the Network may also be resurrected but then that is probably just wishful thinking.
Kryssi. Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 What in the fuck, why do we need a new thread about this?
