FJ Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 And now i come across this.. http://www.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52866 new green day album nov 4th 2008?We've had that before. It'd be nice, but I doubt it'll be out then.
Hermione Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 And now i come across this.. http://www.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52866 new green day album nov 4th 2008?Nah, it's not a reliable source. If a date had been set we'd hear it from either the band themselves or someone connected to them, not a random website.
Ila Reto Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 but i still have my money on fall/winter 2008, or spring 2009. yes, im so accurate with my dates i know!now as for touring, like i may have said on some lost thread, i think that Brittany's new baby may push it back a little. i mean, why leave home your girlfriend and a newborn? i wouldn't.
Fuzz Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 There is no date for the next album, but i have no doubt it will come out. They wouldn't leave Green Day. I'm sure the guys are still enjoying themselves with Green Day as they are with the Foxboro Hot Tubs. It just gave them a chance to do something different, to go out and have fun with this music in a much smaller event. It'd be foolish to think the guys don't like packing stadiums and playing for 20,000 people. How else can they afford the private jet (which i can't find the photo of now)?
FJ Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 i mean, why leave home your girlfriend and a newborn? i wouldn't.Lots and lots of cash? People die, cash is forever.
Fuzz Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 And don't believe any of those other sites with random release dates. There was one saying it was coming out this summer, a few saying this fall - no one knows the date. you can be sure that if we knew, it'd be a big deal on this forum and GDA.
Sole Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 now as for touring, like i may have said on some lost thread, i think that Brittany's new baby may push it back a little. When did this happen?

I would imagine older children would have more of an effect as they have commitments like school etc, whereas babies are more mobile! They've managed to balance babies / families with touring their whole careers, I see no reason why they can't continue to do so.
Ila Reto Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 When did this happen? in one of the old FHT threads, someone who was talking to mike & her at one of the shows told us that she was over 4 months along. by now, thats a little over 5 months. They toured for Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning when they had small babies. I would imagine older children would have more of an effect as they have commitments like school etc, whereas babies are more mobile! They've managed to balance babies / families with touring their whole careers, I see no reason why they can't continue to do so.thats true.
The Disappearing Boy Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 gd will put out a new album.i hope fht dies now. i loved them, but i think it is time to finish, they should keep it to a few small venues in their local area, if they take it to england they will get more publicity, which they probably don;t want or need.

Haha we could even go and see them together if they came to England. Wouldn't you wanna see them if they came?
eyes don't lie Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I'm sure there will be another Green Day album,I am glad that the boys have had a good time and they are obviously still really liking making music which is great news for us fans. They are not just gonna throw out any old shit and it is probably very difficult comming up with new music, they will release an album when they are happy with it and I personally don't mind waiting at all because I just know that it will be worth the wait.
Ila Reto Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 hah, imagine if they still have all these leftover songs or something and they make yet another side band before releasing their album?i think i'd be in heaven. 3 different albums in a little over a year...a girl can dream right?
Light My Fire Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I've got a feeling it's gonna come out later this year or early next year

netty Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 just to answer all the sarcastic comments... I dont know when the album will come out. neither does anybody connected to the record company yet. not those who might leak the release date yet any way. too many record company people have been "talking" about them doing various gigs/festivals or whatever and all have been denied "officially" as they can be for now. and too many others have taken the opportunity to "leak" supposed info about what other plans they might have. the last time a date was supposedly set... it was down to wbr employee having to fill a gap in their "calendar" that date was classed as "b*ll" as far as I can remember right now. the only thing we can say right now is that various people connected to the band have been saying they are going back into the studio to finish the album. nothing has been said about a release date. if you want real news about a release date... check the official site. when they get round to up dating it.
GDOBSSOR Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 So how do you explain them having The Network and then bringing out American Idiot?Btw, there was a 4 year gap between Warning and American Idiot. It's only been 3 1/2 years since American Idiot, so...U have a point, but there wasn't so much hype about the Network. If I hadn't got Green Day's biography out from the library, I would probably never have heard of them until now, and then I would probably be asking who the hell they were. They weren't as popular as the FHTs are. As for Warning - no, there wasn't that big a gap, they released Shenanigans about a year or so after that. Even if they hadn't, Warning wasn't nearly as big as American Idiot - I don't think it would have made it onto the top 20 in New Zealand.I hate to say it, but I kinda agree with the person who started the thread.
PaulS Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 The way I see it is that Green Day (before American Idiot) didn't care too much about how well album sales and all that stuff after they released an album. Of course, (I know a lot of fans will disagree with me) American Idiot was definitely their best album made. The thing is, I think they are having trouble trying to make their new album better then American Idiot. So what they did was create a side project called the "Foxboro Hot tubs" as you all know, and they made songs that they really wanted to play. These are the same band members, but they switched their name so they wouldn't be criticized as much. They did this for fun, not for album sales and money. I think that they have been fed up with being so mainstream, and their record company is probably pissing them off a lot too.Like it or not, Green Day largely are about money. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but they chose to market and tour American Idiot heavily; they wanted to sell the DVDs, and do the huge stadiums. At this point, they're way too big for Reprise to push them into anything they're not willing to do, so let's get that little one out of the way.Second, if Foxboro wasn't about money at all - although it may not have started that way - then they wouldn't be selling the CD/Vinyl. They'd have stuck with the original idea and had the album up for free download, rather than what actually happened was them pulling the download the moment it became vaguely popular, and moving into standard retail channels.I have no particular problem with any of it, because I've loved all of their musical output regardless. But to suggest any of this is amazingly noble on their part is a little naive. They're all millionaires many times over, and could do a lot less of the work you claim they're tired of if they really wanted.

I really don't think it matters to the band how successful, well known or profitable their albums are. The reason they make music is that they are inspired and compelled to do so. The Foxboro Hot Tubs stuff shows that they are still inspired to make music, surely it makes a new Green Day album more likely, not less likely. And anyway, so what if American Idiot was huge. Dookie was a huge selling hit. Did they quit after that? No.
Ila Reto Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 And anyway, so what if American Idiot was huge. Dookie was a huge selling hit. Did they quit after that? No.i know this doesn't mean anything for us, but for the small "fanbase" that says they're good after their last release (and nothing previous), do you think that if they keep experimenting with different styles like the past, they will loose some of them?i can really care less, but im just saying. i was talking to some dude a few months back, he said he liked green day untill Nimrod came out. It blew my mind completely, but im wonderig if he's not the only one who did/ is acting like that. whatever...i dont even see the point in bringing that up...
Kryssi. Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Why do we need another thread to discuss matters such as this?Leave the guys be, if they're having fun with FHT, let them. We all know that they're taking time making the new record, but they always put their whole selves into making records for us to enjoy, and for them to enjoy playing. So, however long it takes, so be it.

I don't think they care though. I'd rather they lost those fans than be too scared to experiment for fear of losing them. If they tried to pander to what fans want they'd end up making boring, unimaginative, rehashed music. It's better that they do what they feel like, and if some fans don't like it, tough luck. Of course we already know this
Moxy Crimefighter Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Foxboro is just to blow off some steam i mean heck, its the same with drawing, you take a break from your curent style and BAMF all of a sudden people are asking you if your a part of the whole 'landscaping with chalk pastels' scene. (I'm drawing on my own inflated ego here. But I think they just wanted to do something different, everybody does it. in one of the old FHT threads, someone who was talking to mike & her at one of the shows told us that she was over 4 months along. by now, thats a little over 5 months. thats true.Ok, Ok....to clear this up (incrdibly confused by this whole matter) she is?Because one minute somebodies saying she si, next its all like "fuck yeah she is, my god how could you not know?"
Guest give me novacaine-jos Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I hope green day will make a new CD as green day. i think that they will...
