Last I checked a fan was just generalized as someone who likes a band's music. Doesn't have to be all of it. Could just be the popular stuff. As long as they like it, though, that would make them a fan.

And hell, maybe they'd get into more of it through the popular stuff that they do know. That is how people tend to get into bands. It doesn't make them not a fan, or a true fan, or whatever else. People are such elitists.

Can't people just be glad to meet someone that shows any interest in something they like? If they don't know too many songs, why can't you just be like "Oh, that's cool. *Insert song here* is a really good song, if you like them, you should check it out."

this preppy girl i use to go to school with always talked about how she was a big fan of the band Boys Like Girls. i asked her what were her favorite songs and she said The Great Escape. then i asked is that the only song she knew and she says yes. after that i didnt consider her a fan cause she only liked one song.

Maybe that was the first song of theirs she loved, and she has since decided to listen to more. Or maybe she just likes that song and isn't interested in hearing more. She's still a fan.
