Why did Green Day stick on you?

It was, I was shocked to hear him say. "Well class, our very own Mr. Cope introduced me to this band. They are called Green Day and some of thier music. They are very political and I think a great band"

I loved it, but some people hated Green Day and half the class loved Green Day. So there was a lot of talking. My teacher said he is starting to like them. And my other teacher mr. Cope is a great fan of thiers and used to live by Billie Joe. But yes, it shows that they influence everyone.

Oh, thanks :D I have to go and see that soon since my computer is super slow at the moment.

My good friend got me into American Idiot, and then I realized that they were the band who wrote Time of your Life and When I come Around. Then I got dookie, and my other friend and I got obsessed with that. The next one I got...probably warning, then nimrod. Both amazing. Then my friend burned kerplunk and insomniac on my computer. I thought they couldn't get better and that they were the greatest band of all time.

That was until the second friend called me up three years after I listened to AI saying "Dude, have you listened to green day's first album? It's like, the best album ever."

So i listened to it. It's now my favorite album ever. So genius. I'm not going to go off about how amazing it is because I'd type forever.

I think they stuck on me because I went to catholic school. I remember three years ago, I felt held down and isolated in school, but I would come home in 7th grade and crank letterbomb to let out my emotion. Blast it and feed off the bad words to rebel against my school and my parents. And I am just naturally into this music.

so every time I look at this thread title I think of the Band-Aid commercial song

"I am stuck on band-aid brand cause band-aid's stuck on me!"

haha i remember when i first saw green day.. i got off school n i was flipping through the stations, n i flipped by TRL, and some ugly guys were on there (green day) i watched for a minute.. got bored n turned the channel.. after like 2 minutes of looking there was nothing on so i turned it back to TRL. they were on there promoting nimrod. i watched the whole show including the new video they were premiering, hitchin a ride i believe it was, n i immediatley became interested... i have always been sort of demented so.. all the crazy psycho crap going on in that video i really liked haha.then like a week later i went to best buy n bought nimrod... then 1039 sosh, then dookie and kerplunk. and the rest was history!

keep in mind i was like 13 n i thought they were old men hahahaha

I actually have no idea why they're one of my favourite bands. I'm not really into that kind of music anymore, so it's pretty weird that they've stuck with me. Even when I haven't listened to a song of theirs for weeks, I still love them.

I sometimes take breaks from them for a while, so that I won't get tired of them. And then when I listen to a song again, a few weeks, if not months, later, it all comes crashing back, and everything sounds fresh, new and exciting. If that makes sense.

A lot of people assume that I started liking Green Day when A.I. came out but that's not true. I liked them way ...way before like during the Dookie era and they just kind stuck with me after. I guess for me ...it had to be the guys themselves and the fact that Billie is just such a great frontman---- he never watered anything down and was completley unhibited and free .... I loved that.

^^^ I'm afraid of that, too, getting tired of them. But so far, after 14 years, I haven't. i mean, there have been periods of time I didn't listen to them very much, but overall, they've still been in my cd/mp3 player 'rotation' the whole time. But especially a lot in the last 3 years, since AI. I haven't listened to them so much since Dookie. I listen to them daily :)

i think green day stuck on me, because i didnt have to wait between all the albums, honestly.

like i'd listen to american idiot, then move on to International Superhits, then moved on to 39/sosh, then moved on to nimrod, etc etc.

when i was growing old of listening to the same 14 or so tracks, have them memorized and get the meanings down, i'd run out and get the next album. which was every couple months or so. like a new album released every few months!!

im impressed by the people who are fans pre-AI and then have waited quite a few years now with nothing new without growing bored or just moving on to other bands to pass the time. i think that's great!

For me, becoming a fan during the AI era, it was the message they were sending that first drew me in. I already had a whole "Anti-Bush/Anti-War" mentallity at the time, and here came a band that had songs protraying how I felt about the world (mind you, I was sort of musically sheltered at the time, so GD were about as "political" as my music knowledge went). After that another thing that drew me in was seeing them live for my first concert. The excitement/adreneline rush their show caused for me made me want to know more about them as a band/people and the more I learned, the more I started to like them which led me to wanting to own all their albums.

The real cincher, however, was when certain songs from them, and ONLY them, helped me get through my parent's separation and mild depression 2 years ago. I realized that, hey this band really has something, and that I could obviously relate to them so much that their songs could have a huge impact on my life. They've been my number one ever since.

That was the same as me!

I heard AI, and after not having much musical apreciation back then...it was a huge thing for me. I then got all their other music, and was just encapsulated by the sound that was being produced, and the meaning that was coming with those sounds.

It's quite hard to find a Green day song that you cant' relate to, and I guess that's half the reason I've stuck around?

Because in a time during grunge rock, Green Day was melodic and fun as opposed to more 'dead serious' bands like Bush.

Yeah I know. My teacher who used to live in California. Would talk about them all the time. Green Day is his favorite band as well and he plays thier music in class a lot. ")

Yeah, I know. I hate and love my computer. But I can always go to the library if my sister ever takes me.

I actually do that as well. But I do it with certain albums so I can keep it new and exciting. And make me love it more and more.

well for me whan I first heard American Idiot I though "wow this sounds good..." so I looked into it and found out that I have acctually been listening to them since I was about 5 and then more I found out about then the more I realized that I liked them and that I could relate to them.

same here! Before, i wasnt really into music (how? i dont know) but then i heard AI and was like, this is soooo cool. i started looking into their past music and i realized i liked that stuff even more, and ive loved their music ever since then :D

I'm not really sure why they stuck on me......... I remember hearing minority back during the warning era and thinking this is a good band. But over here they dont play alot of rock songs on the radio, so the next time I heard anythin about them was when shenanigans came out and they played tired of waiting. I didnt realise it was the same band until my brother gave me insomniac and I made the connection. So when AI came out I got really into them and I've been hooked since!

well i first saw them on the cover of a rolling stone mag when it came in the mail (my mom reads them) and it was love at first sight  and my bff also got american idiot a few weeks later and i got totaly hooked.

"The first time I cought a glimpse of you

Then all my thoughts were only of you" :D

I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and My friends were singing and listening to it and I was sorta like "What kinda stupid song is that?! A lonely road? That's dumb." Then I heard Holiday on the radio and was just like : "Hey these guys hate Bush! Neat!" so I loooked it up and saw that it was the same band. Then my mom made a CD of some of her favorite songs from that year (2004) and Holiday was track 2. So I stole the CD from her car and listened to it every day for a year. I was afraid that my parents wouldn't like me listening to them. So I searched them and became obsessed wth the music and the members. I "Secretly" listened to their music. But then I was just like "Forget it, this is crap." So i asked my mom if we could go tho the mall. I came out of the store with 5 of Green Day's albums in my hands. So now my parents don't care. And I have just about every Green Day thig there is! :D So, basicly, it was just The fact that they were speaking out with their music and the great story of American Idiot! I loved the snotty punk sound, that was just so rebelious! It was my crack! And still is!

(Sorry about my long story...)

Well, I first listened to them in 2006, I was searching for something on Google (I think I was doing something for my English class), and I had no idea what youtube meant. I clicked on youtube, and I saw one of those featured videos, and it was Basket Case, so i watched the video, and that introduced me to Green Day, and music. Before that, I had no appreciation for music. Now music is my life, and that's what I do with my life, I listen to Green Day, and other bands, and play guitar. Green Day stuck because they introduced me to music, and they have intelligent lyrics, not to mention really catchy songs.

I think my brother liked them so I started to listen to them too and fell in love with them.

I vaguely remember listening to Minority as the first song I ever heard by them. :)

They've stopped me from crying on my most depressed, and hardest of days. I adore GD!

Well I was about, eight maybe nine.

And I heard Time Of Your Life on the radio.

I really liked it and I would always sing it around the house.

And then in about grade 5/6 my brother bought American Idiot and I would always steal it and listen to it.

That's when i realized it was the same band that sang Time Of Your Life and they kinda grew on me after that.

I usually listen to them when im upset, or im having a bad day, there lyrics always make me feel better, kinda like i'm not alone.

when i was about 4 or 5 my dad would put on all these cd's like blurli peppers and then one day he put on dooki and isomniac and from then i would listen to those to cds all the time. but the i sort of forgot about gd for a while but then i got ai for christmas and i remerbered about green day so i wouold liten to those 3 cds until they were scrathed so much the wouldn't play anymore, and then when i got some money i bought all of their cds.
