then I found out they wrote Good Riddance and I thought it was funny that I liked them before I knew who they were.

 Same for me on that. I had no clue and I found out I have seen the video "Minority" and liked it not knowing who they were back then.

I think a lot of people didn't know that Good RIddance was thier song. I even have that song has a theme for my yearbook. I was surprised they gave them credit and knew who sung that song.

Country? Wow.

Did your mom like them? I wish my mom even knew who they were. She only thinks that they suck and have no musical talent.

 Yeah I know what you mean. My friend told me I wouldn't really like them nor be a huge fan. And I love them a lot my favorite band and always will be.

The melodies just got engrained in my head. They come up with some amazing shit :)

I think its beacause they have so manny diferent sounds. You never really get bored listening to them since they alway seem to have a bit of a diferent style.

Because I was hungry and thirsty for something, and I didn't know what. They came along and filled it up. I'd never heard music like it, I'd never heard anyone put to lyrics exactly what I was feeling, what I was thinking, until Green Day did it. I fell in luuurve  so to speak :)

Green Day is in my mind because of a stupid t.v. show before they were super famous. I forgive them for that show, even if they do not want to be forgiven... If they want or do not want to be forgiven that is their business. That t.v. show made a mess of my life, and I am GLAD I see it now for what it was. I have seen glimpses of them becoming what they are today over the years and there are both wonderful and wrong things that they have accomplished. They are a few among many who learn from their mistakes and try to help others with what they have learned, that is what I admire about them. If there was any advice I would give them, it would be to remove the splinters from their eyes if they have them.

Exactly for me as well, and I wanted a change and something new. I felt like my music and the things I liked were too routine and I hate when it is like that. So I found Green Day.

same goes for me. i knew some green day songs without really knowing it was them, then i really started getting into them. haha, and when i did i realized that everything else i had been listening to up to that point was crap. i realized that without even knowing it, i was wishing for something better and more substantial than what i had been listening to previously. haha so thats my love story in a nutshell.

by the way, i love your signature. i adore rise against

haha same when i was about 12 years old. i went through a phase when i

thought if a song didnt contain swearing it wasnt worth my time haha

hahahaa, i was the exact same way.

For me I didn't know I wanted a change, I was happy with my music. I stumbled on Green Day totally by accident. But as soon as that happened I was instantly mesmerized . It opened my eyes to how amazing music could be, they were just on a whole other level to anything I'd heard before. I realised how much I'd been missing!

actually, it was my aunt cindy that introduced me to them..

she had a couple of old cds, like nimrod, from them in her cd collection.

i was like..what's this?

and i listened to it.

turns out that's one of the best things i've ever done.

:D

they really help me relate...usually to something going on in my life currently.

they're just shear amazinnngg.

:)

that, and the fact that my brother introduced me to them a few weeks after i got my nimrod and dookie cds.

amazing what happens in such a short time huh?

Thank you, I adore them as well.

I didn't think that what I was listening to at the moment was crap. I just always have this feeling that I am missing out on some great bands and I will never be satisfied with that. I am always looking for more new and great music that I might have missed out on. Like what if I hadn't discovered Green Day a great band, then I would have to see if there are other bands out there I might be missing on.

Well, they're my favorite band, and they introduced me to music, before them, I didn't really have anything, now I sing, play guitar, and listen to music a lot. They are a catchy band, great lyrics, and they are just consistently great.

Kind of the same for me. I was content/happy with my music. But I wanted more. I stumbled on them by walking into my room and I saw the world premier and I was mesmerized as well. I just stood there and thought. "Wow, I must be missing a lot and some great music" So I wanted to venture out broader into different kinds of music and see which bands I would love. And it made me appreciate music way more than I did before. Even though music has always been my life. It brought it upon a whole different level.

well for me whan I first heard American Idiot I though "wow this sounds good..." so I looked into it and found out that I have acctually been listening to them since I was about 5 and then more I found out about then the more I realized that I liked them and that I could relate to them.

SAME THING AS ME LOL!

Because they actually GET me;; They go through all the probelms I'm going through right now in life...

The Grouch is practically my theme song, and I HATE SCHOOL, so 409 in your coffeemaker just described me in life.

I mean, Nirvana has a lot of...issues...in their songs, but I feel that no one can get me like Green day, y'know?

I don't really think Green Day "gets" anyone. I think it's the other way around. Thats what happened with me. I heard their lyrics and thought "wow, thats how i feel. Maybe i'm not as fucked up as i thought". It's a good feeling to still hear those songs from time to time to remind me how much better i felt in high school when i first found out about them.

I think so as well, it is a way of relating to them and thier music. It reminds me as well of how great they made me feel when I first discovered them and how I could talk about them all day everyday and with fans too. I remember the time before I liked thier music, how I was seriously depressed and how after I found thier music I had the best two years of my life afterward.

well, as a 3 year old, I LOVED listening to music. My mom's music. She was a skater girl when she was a teenager so she liked alternative music. Well, I was three so I got pulled into the line

"wake up the house is on fire

And the cat's got in the dryer" That's going to get my attenyion. Also Warning, I liked it. Then Misery's beat, I don't know, I just liked the sound of it. Then, One day (like, half a year ago) my friend played Holiday in school (don't ask how he got permission) and about 2 days later, my mom was playing it, I liked it, got my friend into it, got more and more CDs, now my friend and I are compleatly obsessed.!!!!!

My U.S history teacher played "Holiday" in class once becauase he wanted to show how songs over the years have progressed to fit the times. And political albums. In my 3rd block we listen to Green Day all the time.

i used to never listen to rock before i heard green day, and most music just sounded like shit to me, rap, country, ect... then american idiot came out

the great thing about green day is after discovering them thru american idiot, i found out about their older albums like 1039 and kerplunk which are my absolute favorite albums

That's so cool, must've been an interesting lesson! And goes to show what an influencial album it was

Speaking of teachers using Green Day in their lessons made me think of this. Somebody posted it on here ages ago, and I find it quite hilarious
