Scotty Did Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 when I got into green day my girl friend left me the week befor. The band was every where and I had the rolling stone by chance with them on it(still do). the review was good so I decided to check them out. at the time all their vids were on demand so i watched American Idiot.at the time I only listened to clasic rock and hated anything new, so I was really weary about it all.I remember specifically what happened. when the solo came there was a little part that made me go,, "whoa." that day I watched all the vids and it went from there.as odd as it was when reading about them I found out that Bille was 5'6" like me and I was able to sing it ok. a shot guitar player that I could emulate vocally. I bought American idiot and later super hits very soon after. I fell inlove with that story of the album cause I was living it. I related with everthing in that album. I was a fucked up kid theat got dumped and had an alternate internal persona.later when I got the rest of the music I was comftorble. Warning Minority and King for A Day made me thinmk and see what punk really is, (to me atlest). Every body is welcom to be who they want. it was a time in my life where I literally moved on from every person I had known for 12 years and started a new. I became the true me and found who I was.now I listen to the music for insparation. to learn song writeing. I honestly think that Green Day are amazing song writers. Musically and lyrically. it's almost never boring and pure emotion.I love it.

Juju Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Come to think of it, I really don't know...When I was younger, it was probably because they were loud & obnoxious and I was loud & obnoxious back then, then slowly it grew into a real appreciation of them. I started actually paying attention to the lyrics and realized that they actually meant something. Now, I'm kind of disappointed in myself because I really don't listen to them that much anymore. I don't even know why... I guess interests just change as you get older... idk.

HeartxShaped Box Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 then why are you on here if you're not interested in them anymore?idk that just kinda strikes me as hipocracy.... being on a world-wide fansite where everyone pratically eat, sleeps and breathes Green Day, and then you say you dont listen to them much and now you're becomming less and less interested....no offense. im not purposely trying to offend anyone at this point...Actually quite a few people here don't consider Green Day to be one of their absolute obsessions in life.

Josh4309 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I first got into them in 2004 wen AI came out. As a 13 year old boy it was everything to be cool and like the stuff everybody else likes and i latched onto the Green Day craze after hearing the song American Idiot. It was at the time wen i was very confused about wat music i liked, i just thought "hey if everyone else likes em, so will i". later i heard Welcome to Paradise and that was really wat it was for me, i had found my musical paradise. Now everyone hates them, teveryone all jumped off the Green Day train but I didnt and now i have every cd and am proud to be different. Becoming a Green Day fan was the best thing i ever did and it has change my life dramatically
Boiled Rat Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 i don't know, i think i should ask them....- "Hey guys, why did u stick on me?????????"--------------------waiting for the answer................................................................................................................................................still waiting.................................................................................................................................................still.......................................so tired ,tired of waiting.................................................................................................................................
robotpie Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 First song I heard from Green Day was probably American Idiot, fuck, oh so late. But hey not my fault I was born so damn late.It was played on the radio all the time, even in Finland and there was no way I would not have heard it. Few weeks later my sister got the money to buy American Idiot and I heard Jesus of Suburbia and I went nuts!Soon I bought Dookie and after that I stayed in my room for weeks and did nothing else but listened to it. I learned every word of it, tho I didn't know what they all ment because I was so young, I think 9 years old. I just looked at the artwork inside and was like WOW!After I found out what the words I was singing ment, all I could think what a rad kid I was.
madie Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Why did Green Day stick on you? /........... coz of their tight pantsnice
jadedghiacand Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Green Day stuck on me because they had used more than just wood adhesive.
Sugar Demon Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Green Day stuck on me because when they hit with Dookie, it carried the same kind of raw energetic punk sound I liked in the late 70s, but it was much tighter, refined, melodic and had a pop element to it like The Ramones. It was different and refreshing.
slothmunkey Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 It was when I saw "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" on VH1 (I used to like pop and crap)And, like a lot of kids my age, I was looking into Green Day more and I found out I have been hearing Green Day everywhere since I was very young. Then I heard St. Jimmy and that clenched it for me.I love that song. xDAnd Good Riddance. Right when I figured out they were the ones who performed that song, I was like "This is the BEST band...I have ever heard in my LIFE."AAAAND thats my story. ^-^
chip Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I knew who green day was but I wasn't a really big fan untill my now ex-boyfriend used to send me little messages using green day in text messages or in letters. That's how they stuck on me.
No Man Can Eat Fifty Eggs! Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 The first time I got stuck was when my brother played BOBD for me. I honestly don't know why I ended up loving them so much. I think it's because I was kind of hiding my true self behind this fakie girl who listened to Vanessa Carlton and wore mini skirts with pink tank tops. I was just doing that for everyone else, not for me. Then Green Day came along and their music made a little home in my heart, and stayed there forever, and I was then able to come out of my shell and be myself, a crazy artist/hippie/stoner chick with nothing but music on my mind.
*SubLimiNation* Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 wow, probably summer of 7th grade when i heard in jesus of suburbia, i instantly thought it was written for me. every song i've heard by Green Day i can most likely relate to in some way or another. especially the whole cd of American Idiot..
molly1620 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 The song HomecomingTheir confidenceHow their music was much more meaningful than the other stuff on the radio
