wwnflat_punk Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I was attracted to Green Day's music first when I saw the "Basket Case" video on VH1. I liked the guitar and lyrics, then bought "International Superhits", "American Idiot" and the rest of the albums!
mrs. billie joe Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 i was watching mtv trl u think and there they were! i heard boulevard and from then i simply love them!i bought their stuff, CD's and everything i could find lolso now im here, a fan, and just cant stop hearing them! <3
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 i remember i first heard of them with ai. i liked american idiot, wmuwse and bobd. i saw a trailer for biab, and recognised those songs, also in the trailer i saw king for a day, good riddance and are we the waiting (although i didn't realise they were called that), but i remember liking them. i asked for biab for christmas and got it, so my green day fanhood started on 25/12/2005 exactly! and it just went on from there i remember thinking that ai was their first cd, so the part of biab when he says 'we've been a band now for 16 years' surprised me slightly when i first heard it!!
musse Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Oh well. I was 11, I think, when my friends found a nice band called Green Day from the internet. So we listened to it and I fell in love with Longview (no, I didn't understand the lyrics). I also liked Minority and Basket Case if I remember right... And, uh, Boulevard of Broken Dreams. My mum heard that song and bought the whole album cause I said it was good. She didn't really like it so I took the cd and it's stayed in my room for 5 years. ^______^Me and my friends made a cute little project about GD when we were 12. And we actually told the whole class that green day means a day when you smoke weed. Weird kids.
ComaWhite Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 my husband is fan since 94 and he took me to a concert in 2005.........and then i fell in love with their music and today i´m a bigger fan than my husband.....green day is now getting on his nerves because i can´t stop talking about them xD
belinda jane Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 i heard 'good riddance' in 97. this teacher was singing and playing it on guitar on this camp, and it just stuck with me.i went home and ended up buying the single, following the album.they were just so different from anything i had ever heard before (mainly because i was 7 and was listening to the spice girls and hanson).i've never looked back
Zynester Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 At first i just saw people wearing green day shirts in the the late 90's and stuff, and they just seemed so popular, then when i got into that type of music i remembered the name of this band got the international superhits cd for my christmas , got addicted, bought all the other cds, got even more addicted! Their just unlike any other band, and their music taught me to be an individual, stand up for what i believe in, and that i shouldn't care what other people think of me. If it wasnt for green day, i wouldn't be the person iam today. If i hadn't listened to them, i'd be a mind-possessed sheep to the constantly progession of this orwellian society! basically, the musics just so good, the lyrics have meanings, and they know how to entertain the crowds and their very unique
04rebhop Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 A girl in my form really liked them, so i decided to give them ago. I didn't really like any music at that tme, but Green Day brought me into rock. I listened to the album American Idiot, and the song 'Are We the Waiting' caught on me, and over time i brought the other albums and i loved them even more. I think they caught on me because i hadn't really seen this amazing type of music before.
Blue-Rebel Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I remember hearing American Idiot and I really liked it and I then realised it was by the same band who done Basket Case and Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) which I remembered as a kid and I ended up just getting more of their albums and liking them more and more. Mainly they've stuck with me is because I have enjoyed all their albums and they're still going strong.
emmaILGD! Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 My cousins used to play Green Day a lot when i was younger, I think Minority was the first song i ever sat and listened to all the way through. I then got Warning as a birthday present, and then AI came out and i loved them even more . There doesn't seem to be many people who's first album was Warning though :/
Freeny Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I first got into them, like four or five years ago I think. Well, they were played on the radio all the time and everybody liked them, but it got more serious and I wanted to buy their record when I heard Wake Me Up When September Ends for the first time. It was one of the coolest music-experiences I had ever had. I was twelve or something then, and I remember loving how it all sounded and just.. God, it gave me goosebumps. So yeah.. After that I saved up money for their other records and so on, and when my grandmother gave me Dookie as a present I really fell in love... Gosh.Their lyrics are so relatable and so is their personalities. It's just everything about them - their attitude, music, lyrics, sense of humour... It just sticks on you.I can't believe I'm seeing them twice in October... Shit. It's really happening.Anyways, I love them to death. They're the band that always makes me feel better.
Hermione Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I've aleady said how I got into them in 2005. But I was just thinking today I remember when I was about 12 there was writing all over the desks at my school, and one of the things someone had written on my maths desk was the complete lyrics of Brain Stew. I didn't know where they came from but I thought they were great. Years later when I got into Green Day and heard the song I instantly recognised the "my eyes feel like they're gonna bleed" line from that, it was so cool. Yet another one of my small brushes with Green Day where I could've found out more about them and got into them earlier but didn't, urgh!
drrrnn Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I'm nearly 23 years old and Green Day has been with my for pretty much my whole life, so I don't know exactly why they've stuck with me. I remember going over to my cousin's house when Woodstock '94 was going on and saw the big mud fight and these guys with colorful hair making snotty comments to the crowd. It seemed so edgy, yet so wonderfully delightful to listen to. I think by the time I got to 7th grade the bulk of my music collection was the Green Day albums and a ton of bootlegs I had acquired. Something about the band just clicked with me and I felt as if they were speaking to me, and they're always going to be there, I've listened to all the songs a thousand times and haven't tired of them. I've seen them about 15 times and always enjoy the show. To me it's hard to beat a band that does what they want and has fun with it, and has kept it up for 20 years now.
Femme Gauche Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 They just put out exactly the message that I needed and identified with, and the more music of theirs I found, the more I found I identified with either the music or what the band had to say... they were in essence every element about other bands that I ever like, all rolled into one band... it was pretty hard to escape the draw.
**kookai** Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I've grown to love them over the years.... a lot, a bit too much me think .... it's doing my head in
Holly Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 January 2005 I was in a pantomime and at the after show party American Idiot came on, I had never heard it before, and me and my friend were messing about and head banging. But then I have no idea how it stuck. I had never listened to ANYTHING like Green Day before then. I was in Y7 at the time, and I know in Y6 I used to like Garath Gates and Peter Andre and all sorts of crap, so how on earth I suddenly totally changed into a Green Day manic I have no idea. I think it must have been something to do with moving up to secondry school, new friends, growing up a lot. But I am SO glad I found Green Day, or Green Day found me..
saintcarlos Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Green Day kinda sorta of saved me! lol here is why, i remember in middle school i was hanging out with the wrong "crowd" dressed and acted all dumb..like a wannabe gangster...and idk..i remember going to the mall..going into Virgin Records and seeing the American idiot album i didn't know what in the world it was! and for some reason i just bought it..i started to find out more about rock..and completely changed, like the way i dress and stuff..started to find more friends who liked similar music, i did find a few who till this day I'm still friends with....in High School i suffered from depressionall i remember listening to was Give Me Novacaine, i was at the point of suicide not even Green Day could save me..but God found me and led me to a church, but i KNOW if i hadn't found Green Day i would probably would have become a Drug addict, Alcoholic or who knows....But i am convinced that God put Green Day in my life to save me from all that! WHY ARE THERE NO CLOUDS IN THE SKY?
sharon mitchell Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Today was the most wonderful day pf my life. They were tired from flying in on Sunday and recording two tv shows in two days and they still stood in the street and chatted for 15 minutes or so.Fucking awesome.

Made me so happy for you
mad hatter. Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I first heard them when I was in 6th grade. I stayed home from school "sick" and I had on MTV. Like 30 seconds of the Holiday video got played as a teaser and I heard it and fell in love. I remember I didn't catch the name so I sat on google and searched the lyrics, to find out it was Green Day. From there on, I got AI for Valentines in '05 and I listened to it a few times, then ignored it for a few weeks, then went back to it. A few weeks later I went out and bought the rest of their CD's.It's been love ever since. Billie's voice had me hooked from the beginning. (:
Citizen Wrong Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I remember Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the first song of theirs that I had heard. I was in a creative writing class with this BJ obsessed kid who listened to Green Day a lot. I heard BoBD and liked it. Later when I was home, I went on YouTube, searched for Green Day and came across Time of your Life and liked it a lot! I got a copy of AI like 2 weeks later and bought a whole lot more GD music after that! Green Day is awesome! I also liked the guitars and the lyrics. Those two things are what got me into Green Day the most. They're music is easy enough to play on my guitar, it's nice to play something other people know, it makes my time spent guitaring seem more worth while.
Sharmellow Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Well, one day I found the music video for American Idiot. At first, I was like, wow, music that actually speaks the truth and not the "I love you, I love you" songs that's full of pop shit. So, I decided to research some of their songs and I found out Basket Case and When I Come Around was by them. I was a fan before I even found out about AI.
lindzy Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I remember watching the Warning video on tv with my brother and being like WTF? liking the song but not really listening to anything else by them. And then AI came out and my brother showed me that video. That was the time when I was just starting to get into rock music and I became obsessed with Green Day.
