Elizabeth_ Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Well, I wouldn't be suprised if some smart ass got me that for christmas
mayday01 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Sounds very polyphonic ring toneish. Didn't like it at all, just some Christmas-y sounds added to otherwise normal songs. I'll be sticking with my usual holiday albums.
DeJennsitized Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Aw, I dunno, I think they sounded quite cool. I won't be rushing out in a mad hurry to get one, but it would be nice to have. It's either Christmas covers of my favourite band, or Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree... :/
Guest Phoebe. Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7419786Nothing Else Matters sounds awesome For Whom The Bell Tolls is rediculous, and has some weird synthetic sounds I dont agree with.In One, they dont do the melody well at all. The important bit is cut out annoyingly. The Unforgiven sounds like it's in a funny time signature.Fade to Black is indistinguishable.Welcome Home is murdered and dumped in a ditchWherever I May Roam sounds like the soundtrack to a seedy middle eastern porno [be there such a thing?]Master of Puppets has a weird crunchy noise that doesnt make sense..Battery sounds nice, with the chimes, but it should have less relentless belling..Call of Ktulu sounds like the soundtrack to a Tim Burton movie..1/10.And sod listening to the GD one..
greenbear Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Somewhat disturbing I think! It shows the songs are good enough to stand being played this wayand BOBD does sound rather Christmassy I can't imagine ever wanting to listen to them this way Wonder if they got the idea from Rock-a-bye baby lullabies.
ghostofaninja2 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 WTF!! at least I know what crap my freinds gonna get me....
Parley Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Sounds very polyphonic ring toneish.Adds that lovely cheesy touch. I just don't see the charm of these covers that some of you do. Elevator music of Green Day doesn't much appeal to me. I'd choose the barking-dog versions over these. I expect Andres to be receiving an email about them next week.
dreamy22 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I hate Christmas.I despise Christmas music. I will undoubtedly hate these disks.i have the same emotional response to all things christmas and i dont want to do the family thing either
LittleGreenConverse Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 why didnt they put those Christmas song billie did last year that were available on GDA like first noel and stuff
Mato Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Even I don't like any of those kinds of GD remakes, It's cool. I might buy it. It would be cool to have a (white) green Christmas.
Jillie Boe. Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I hate Christmas.I despise Christmas music. I will undoubtedly hate these disks.Yeah. People act like it's some kind of sin if you hate Christmas. Those people deserve to be hurt, very badly.Even I don't like any of those kinds of GD remakes, It's cool. I might buy it. It would be cool have a white green Christmas. You don't make sense.
MrGreenDayUK Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Wow. What a hateful CD and a stupid moronic idea. Never thought Green Day could be bastardised any more than Avril Lavigne's Basket Case cover, but here we have it.Thanks for posting anyway, it gave me a laugh. =]
BadgerLALA Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 So if I got this right they will do a Christmas CD with cover of GD's songs?Strange.
justcause Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Wow. What a hateful CD and a stupid moronic idea. Never thought Green Day could be bastardised any more than Avril Lavigne's Basket Case cover, but here we have it.Thanks for posting anyway, it gave me a laugh. =]Yeah, but you know, why not? Why not take the heartfelt expressions of someone's existence, run them thru the puke-machine, then dance round the fake Christmas tree to the result? Aw, fuck, I listened to 'their' JOS, and I just felt sad - it sux to hear something so beautiful treated like that.
MrGreenDayUK Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Yeah, but you know, why not? Why not take the heartfelt expressions of someone's existence, run them thru the puke-machine, then dance round the fake Christmas tree to the result? Aw, fuck, I listened to 'their' JOS, and I just felt sad - it sux to hear something so beautiful treated like that. What's more, something that took time and talent to produce has been changed into a series of bleeps and jingles that a four-year-old could produce with a Fisher Price keyboard.
*withoutadoubt* Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Yeah, but you know, why not? Why not take the heartfelt expressions of someone's existence, run them thru the puke-machine, then dance round the fake Christmas tree to the result? Aw, fuck, I listened to 'their' JOS, and I just felt sad - it sux to hear something so beautiful treated like that.Doesn't GD have to give them permission to use their songs? Why in the world would they let them ruin it? :/
Boston Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 wasn't there a thread on Green Day covering Christmas songs or something like that a while back? this sounds pretty interesting. maybe i'll buy it, but i'll most likely steal it.
