IWantYourBabies Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I've had Uptown Girl stuck in my head for months..
Cassie. Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 My 5 year old cousin sang it on SingStar once.My ears have never been the same.Ahaha, I always sing it on singtar. 9500+ baby!
Jack.K Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 My Dad is the only person I've ever seen that's actually tried to do well... and managed to get tone deaf. God it was embarrassing.
IWantYourBabies Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Ahaha, I always sing it on singtar. 9500+ baby! That's amazing! I can only get that on Atomic, Poison, Karama Chameleon and the Final countdown... there's a mysterious K person who I have trouble beating though..
IWantYourBabies Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I thought for the longest time boy George was a woman.
Jack.K Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 If he is the guy singing that song, then yes. Me too. In fact, I didn't realise until someone told me, and then I didn't believe them, and then i watched it again.
IWantYourBabies Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Same!On topic: I think there are a few couples of songs that sound rather alike, but not them all. But then I think most songs from other bands all sound alike, and all these bands sound exactly the same as each other. I've yet to find a band that sounds much like Green Day..
Jack.K Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Oh yeah.. the topic. There are a couple on Nimrod that sound similar. I can't for the life of me remember which ones though. Walking Alone maybe... and another?
IWantYourBabies Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Err.. I don't know. I find Armatage Shanks and 86, Strangeland and Best Thing in Town..
starbucksfreak Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 my brother said the same thing. i dont think so though :/
Tits McGee Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Guys, listen to 2000 Light Years Away and Westbound Sign (or, just the start) and tell me they sound nothing alike. No offence to Green Day or anything, hehe.
*Minority* Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 yeh i know someone that said that "i'm bored of Green Day now all their songs sound the same" having listened to like BOBD, WMUWSE and AI anyone that says GD's songs sound the same hasn't listened to them enough obviously.I agree with you. I think Nimrod is easier to notice the difference, but I can notice the difference in the other ones too. People who just hear the singles and say that they're boring because it's all the same, definitly don't really know what they're talking about.
*withoutadoubt* Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 ^ I agree with that - I think sometimes you have to listen to each album as a whole to hear all the diversity they have in their music.
DeJennsitized Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Hmm, well sometimes the beginnings sound similar (Chump is one chord away from sounding like the beginning of 2000 Light Years Away, for example) but i agree with most people that you have to be a fan to notice that they're all different. My sister hates Green Day, for example, but she would say they all sound the same. And my dad hates all rock music, and he thinks it all sounds the same. And i think all dance music sounds the same. Just depends on your music tastes, really.Your mate either isn't a real Green Day fan, or likes arguing wayyy too much.
MusicalDeviant Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 A while back a friend of mine and I were talking about Green Day, and he suggested that almost every song on a Green Day CD is the same. Meaning that everything on Dookie sounds the same, and everything on Warning sounds the same, etc.. I made the argument that it's not possible to say that Hitchin' A Ride, Take Back, Good Riddance, King For A Day, and Redundant sound anything a like(all songs from Nimrod). The argument went further, but I have to go watch TV. Whatcha think?Thats stupid. I mean sure, they all have a vibe that's similar, because they reflect a certain point of musical development for the band. But to say all the songs sound the same is just stupid.
saurus Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I don't really care what he thinks. Of course there will be similarities. meh.
whatsername*** Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 not all green day songs sound the same.....but each album has its own "sound". like when a song comes on the radio, before ive recognized the song, im picturing the album cover.its like "okay...this is american idiot..." or "i hear some dookie playing"so he has a point, but you also have a point I agree
MrGreenDayUK Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 yeh i know someone that said that "i'm bored of Green Day now all their songs sound the same" having listened to like BOBD, WMUWSE and AI anyone that says GD's songs sound the same hasn't listened to them enough obviously.the main criticisms of GD that i get are 'they sound the same all the time', 'they are for 5 year old kids' and 'they dont write their own songs'.
FilmAdaptation Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I've always found Sweet Children and Welcome To Paradise (off Kerplunk) sound mighty similar.
Sanah Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Best Thing In Town and Strangeland sound alike, in my opinion. But I shall wub them forever and ever.
