I never really fell in love with the song. I was really happy when it came out, but after listening to it for a while, eh, whatever. It's not a terrible song, but that it was kind of mediocre.

But, i still hope they get the award for two reasons. 1) The rest of the people there are terrible 2) Even if I don't think the song was amazing, the collaboration, and what they were doing was pretty impressive.

Normally I'm really optimistic about this kind of stuff.... but I predict Gwen Stefani/Akon winning for The Sweet Escape, I can barely turn on the tv or radio without hearing the song or seeing the video (whereas besides Fuse, Saints Are Coming had a very short run).

I remember when the VMA's were highly regarded and were considered better than the Grammys.

My brothers taped all the VMA's from the 90's and you had bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, all those really great bands that would play and would win awards worth winning. It used to be that winning one meant you were a talented artist, now all it means is you got a lot of plays on MTV (which, might I add, could be taken as impressive considering MTV now shows about 15 minutes of videos each day). I wish the music industry would just constantly remain in the 90's...minus the shitty pop (which was NEVER awarded at the 90's VMA's, but now I guess it dominates it...Brittney Spears never started winning awards until MTV went downhill in the 21st Century...
