Green Day Influence!

-zero-

Recommended Posts

They started the new age corporate punk in a way. They changed punk to what most bands do today.

Isn't that what Green Day did? Or did I jump onto the wrong forum?

Blink 182

Sum41

All American Rejects

New Found Glory

I think My Chem would have definetly existed without Green Day.

what about the huge numbers of fans who have picked a guitar up, or taken to playing the drums, simply because green day sparked an interest in music in them?

the numbers of fans they have unfluenced way out weighs the number of successful bands who admit they were an influence right now.

the ultimate question is, does it really matter?

fans enjoy the music. even if they inspire people to take up a guitar.. even if they arent professionally succesful... who cares?

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS??

YA SHITTIN ME?

My thoughts exactly!

And both blink 182 and AFI was formed before GD was a very known name, so they would exist anyway.

Only band I can think of that wouldn't be around if Green Day didn't exist, is Green Day. Every band is inspired by more than one other band, one less doesn't mean so much that an other band wouldn't exist just because of that. Even though it's Green Day.

What about those Green Day tribute bands?

Green Day influenced it, but didn't start it onto what it is now. What I'm trying to say is that Blink 182 started the new punk, like what you hear out of most "punk bands" today. Some punk bands that are still along the lines of Green Day are The Living End and maybe The Alkaline Trio with the sound.

A tribute band is a way to get an easier start on a band career by using an allready famous name. If Green Day didn't exist, they would make tributes to other bands.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that. Even kids who play metal, and some metal bands out there love, and were influenced by GD. Like Zak Wild from Black Sabbath

What the fuck are you even getting at? That GD had nothing to do with today's bands?

What? No. I'm saying that Green Day influenced a lot of people, even metal people. I'm saying that some metal players out there were influenced to start playing music because of Green Day. What's so wrong with how I originally said it? What I said didn't even motion towards GD not having anything to do with todays bands.

Then you're a dumb ass? Because I highly doubt Zakk Wylde was influenced by Green Day.

I didn't say influenced. I said "some metal bands out there love, or were influenced by GD"

Zakk Wild said that he thought Billie Joe came up with some really catchy guitar riffs. And it was posted on here awhile back.

sorry. I made a mistake. Forgive me for being human.

I'm not fucking retarded. I know Zakk Wild wasn't influenced by Green Day. It was a typing error.

Calm down

I'm calm. I felt pretty attacked there several seconds ago when I was being called a dumbass, and what I said was fucked up. I'm just trying to explain myself.
