iLozza! Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I wouldn't bother, all of my friends either listen to RnB or are Indie freaks. But if I had to play something to them...it'd probably be Dookie I think, because they all have heard American Idiot, so it'd be nice to prove that Green Day were a band that evolved until they got to that point of being a sucess.
Tiffx Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I made my cousin listen to 21CB because she was telling me how KYE wouldn't stop playing on the radio. I told her that was the most dissapointing song on the album and gave her my ipod to listen to the rest. She now loves most of the songs and was pretty suprised about how much their music has evolved since American Idiot.
Guest Hayley Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 My sister loves every single song from 21CB.She also likes Holiday and some other songs from AI.
PunkRocks and Coke Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 well introduced green day to my cousin (she seen my poster and fell in love w/ billie) and you know that sayin your fave. band is like you girlfriend, you want every one to know her but not sleep w/ her?well thats exactly what she did she "slept" with green day who was my girlfriend to start with. lol(sorry about the metaphore)
punkrockerlori Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I remember when I intorduced Green Day to my friend Kirsten she absolutly hated them! I played her some stuff on Nimrod and she actually liked but everything else she didn't really like...which is such a shame
Superfizz Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Well it depends in what kind of music they're into. If they like heavy grungy, old school music, I'd start them off with Kerplunk or Dookie. If they were more into the modern pop/alternative/rock of course I'd play American Idiot and better yet 21st Century Breakdown. But I used 'Warning' to convert one of my friends into liking Green Day when before she didn't really like them..she was all "Wow, i didn't know this was by Green Day!"
inemoij Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 My brother started to listen to Green day after I showed him 21CB.
Sharmellow Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 but my friends can't wait till i shut the hell up 'cuz i talk "too much" about them Haha, same with my friends. Except they don't say that, they imply it though.
Ayame Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I made 2 of my friends listen to the 21st Century Breakdown demo once and now they're both asking me to lend them my CDs to them, haha.
Guest ☼ Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 My close friends have never really cared all that much for green day. They all have their own likes. Which is cool, we were all very different from one another. Then I had the friends who I would go to shows with. We were never close, but we had fun at concerts and working shows for local bands. I have however, got my boyfriend hooked on Green Day. I really liked the new album. Which of course made me happy, just lets me listen to the album more often.
Psycho Britney Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I think I got my friends into GD by making them listen to Dookie! Then they loved them aswell!
Rezurgam Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I took one of my friends to the Fox Theater show. He's likes Green Day now. Green Day's usually playing in my car when friends ride with me. Most don't comment, but I think a lot actually like it. One though said he was sick of them.
Angie-Marie Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I think the only time I tried to introduce Green Day to a friend was back when When I Come Around was really big on the radio and I drove one of my friends crazy with that song. Anytime she came over, I'd either have Dookie playing or I'd have the radio on a channel that I knew would play Green Day. After the first few times of making her listen to When I Come Around, she finally asked who sings this song that I keep getting excited about and I said that it's Green Day. She hadn't heard of them, I think she was more into country at the time. After a while of stopping what we were doing to turn up the radio anytime Green Day came on, she'd just roll her eyes and say something like, "Oh, you and your Green Day!" My friend never did have very good taste in music.
Pati. Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Well,my friends think that Green Day is an okay band. When one of my friend went over to my place the Kerplunk record was on and I don't remeber which song was on,and she was like:Wow,this band is good!Who are they? I said:Green Day!You like them? Then you should listen to this and this and this...And I drive them nuts every time they mention Green Day.But most of them like them. And always call me when they hear something Green Day related.
thisisAB Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I gave one of my friends American Idiot, and she didn't like it. I introduced my friend to Green Day back when I discovered them. I showed him the Brainstew music video on YouTube and he hated the song mostly because he already hated the singles off American Idiot. The Basketcase music video was in the related videos, and when he listened to it Green Day became one of his favourite bands, ha! I intoroduced Minority to my friend and she learned it on guitar but once out of nowhere when I was playing her guitar (I wasn't even playing Green Day) she said 'yeah sure take the easy way out like Green Day'. I let my other friend borrow Kerplunk! but she just gave it back without saying anything. I need to introduce more friends to Green Day.
gloria. Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Mmm, I showed one of my friends 21 Guns and he said it was okay. Now, he can't get it out of his head. When, I try to show my friends Green Day music and point out that it's our boys, they instantly dislike it.But when I show them the music without telling them it's by them, they love it.Pssht, just because I love them doesn't mean I'll shove it down their throats, even if it's bad.
Naked and Famous Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I introduced my 'bff' to Insomniac back when we were, like, 10. She's a big fan of hip-hop these days, but she still loves 'em enough to have all the albums...and rock out to 'King For A Day' once in a while in the car...and be really excited to see them with me in a couple weeks!! I also managed to corrupt my neighbor right after Nimrod came out ~ I made her a fan via 'Good Riddance'; she was, like, 7 years old lol
Spaztic Plastic Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Eeh....I'm not even trying to introduce them anymore -_-Most of my friends don't like them; they don't wanna see them, hear them or hear me talk about them. It's depressing
Laura! Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I have one friend who loves them as much as I do. Another friend who listens to them a lot, but he doesn't love them, and one friend who likes their old stuff. But if I were to convert another friend I would have to choose Warning then Nimrod then Kerplunk then American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown.By now, most of my friends have gotten annoyed with me and my love for Green Day.
Jessica Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I'm trying to get my boyfriend to like them...I can't tell if he's really interested in them or if he's just saying he is to please me...Doesn't matter if he likes them or not, though, because I bought him a GA ticket to the nashville concert...
